AXIS PIN RETAINER

>>New Vepr's are coming from the MOLOT factory with retainer plates installed. At least they waited until Kalashnikov died. I prefer the plates as well, have them in the AKs and the S-12. -

Nice acquisition there Spacehog. That G41 looks huge, maybe because the 1911 is in the background in your pic. Though I watched Hickok45's review and he says it's the same size as the 5" 1911. Longer and thinner/lighter slide than the G21. Better sight radius, but a hair more recoil. Seems like a good trade off to me over the G21. I can see where that may work well as an open carry or duty gun. -

>>Over all I get what you are saying. However about that jacket,..... Yep, it's probably just a personal thing with me. I don't think my Dad would have given it to me if it was really a problem. If you saw it though.... olive green with the name patch. In my mind, it's too close to giving the wrong impression. -
White greasepaint makeup will do the job. Years ago a buddy of mine threw great back yard barn parties, it was always a good mix of ages and types of people. Lots of people showed up after their restaurant/bar shifts etc. usually lots of young single women to leer at. One party he and I were warned ahead of time by our wives that some goth girl was going to be there soon and we should be polite. He and I just looked at each other and smiled. "Yes dear" we both responded. So goth girl gets there and as she's making the rounds, I wait until she gets to within earshot of

Pistols are difficult to shoot accurately to begin with, it takes a lot of practice. I'm not a great shot with a pistol, I need a lot more practice. I'm a decent shot with one of my .45's (CZ clone) but terrible with the other (a Taurus). One issue is that I hate the sights on the Taurus, the other is lack of practice. I'll fix the sights on the Taurus one of these days. So I think you are seeing something similar. You have some experience on 1911s, but you moved over to the M&P and it's a different animal. Moving from one model of gun to another is always going to give differ -

Agree Odd Man. I was not in the service, but my Dad and little brother were in the Air Force. Dad flew C130s, brother was a flight line engineer servicing fighters. When I was a kid my Dad gave me a very nice AF jacket, green on the outside and reversible to orange on the inside. Very nice warm survival type of flight jacket. No patches other than last name patch across the front. In grade school and early high school I used to wear it and felt cool wearing it, and was proud of my Dad's service. As I got older though, I started feeling funny about wearing it because it was clear -
I'm not so sure the citizenry entrusted him at all, well.... except for his demographic. We have a guy with a fake past, likely not even a US citizen, who was "placed in power". What & who is the real power structure that made that happen? That is way more scary than a citizenry who stupidly entrusted him.

The irony of "MayDay"

Yes, I'm sure that helped. Hitler always counted on fast & hard attacks (Blitzkrieg) and as the war started dragging out on the Russian front, his plan fell apart. He never counted on the tenacity of the Russians defending their homes and the brutal weather conditions. No question that his overreach and multiple fronts also helped do him in. Hitler also had a tendency to outrun his supply lines. Rommel realized he was screwed when we were able to deliver chocolate cake to the front lines and he couldn't get fuel for his tanks. ETA: Wrong Nazi.... I just automatically thin -
Here's the GSG .22lr AK. It has a scope rail and more realistic sights and safety. . http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fBAagmzI1eo . Actually kind of amazing that there are several .22 AKs around. RIA (ARMSCOR) has one. And I forgot about the Romanian WASR-22, possibly the closest thing to a "real" .22 AK. .

Texting and Driving

I like the ones who must jam their vehicle into your safe following distance when there is traffic ahead, or some other situation when there is zero advantage to them cutting you off. You look in the rearview, and there is nobody behind you..... they could have just pulled up behind you, but no... they HAD to be in front of you. Another one that's really entertaining is the jokers who fly across four lanes of traffic at the very last possible second to the exit ramp. -
Now you tell me! I'm glad I got what I did, and (like you said) I would not get this one either. This is another .22 rifle dressed up in a plastic shell kind of a thing. Mossberg also has the 715T that is about the same thing in an AR looking shell. Nothing really wrong with them that I can see as long as the buyer knows what they are getting. The guy in the video is happy with it, and it looks accurate. And it's only about half of what I spent on mine. Long term reliability remains to be seen though. Certainly worth including in the thread as somebody may see that and

The cops in the big cities are installing some kind of "sound triangulation" thing to pin point gunshots in the hood. It works with a grid of microphones fed into a computer that look for gunshot sound signatures I think. Suppressors would probably defeat that. Even Illinois (except Chicago & Crook County) is considering legalizing suppressors. Ever since somebody mentioned hunters not going deaf and claiming state disability with legal suppressors. I'd buy a couple of cans if they were affordable and not NFA.

I think the one my buddy bought was a N-PAP and not an O-PAP..... I get my PAPS confused. (There's a joke in there some where) -

+1 on the WASR-10, they are getting a lot more respect than they used to. Haven't seen a new one in person yet, going by feedback they seem to be much higher quality than the WASRs of years ago. I've seen a new Yugo O-PAP that's really nice too. If you want to spend a bit more for a milled, the C39V2 is nice, although it doesn't have a scope rail. WASR is on sale at Atlantic http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/cai-ak-47-wasr-10-7-62x39mm-rifle-detail.html?Itemid=0 . -
err, uhm so, here's the thing. . . . Maybe I should have been clearer, if they made them out of the same polymer/plastic that Magpul/ Tapco etc..... The polymer needs to be less rigid and more flexible. I know what you meant. If you hold one of the .22 mags in your hand, it feels like a harder/more brittle plastic than a poly AK mag or an S-12 mag/drum. Ideally they would be a little softer plastic to take more abuse. I think Mike said he tried a couple of different poly formulations for the drum before he found the one he wanted for durability.
-
Thanks for the info on the mags, I see what you mean by looking at them. I also see that the stock 10rnd mag that came with the upper has plastic feed lips, while the Blackdog 25rnd mag has nice metal feed lips. I read someplace that the plastic lips can erode after a while. Agree that the Blackdog mags are really nice overall.
-
I looked at the S&W M&P 15-22 when I was shopping around. Very nice rifle and they are very popular. The upper & lower are poly though, so be aware of that. Fingered one over at the lgs (very light weight) and they wanted $400, about the going price. I think you could find one for $350 or less if you wait and shop around. Just saw this on sportsmans outdoor superstore..... .

Thanks Spacehog. Yeah, I think there was an assumption that I was going all Chuck Norris over a .22 plinker. Nothing like that, I just wanted a kick-ass .22 and was asking for opinions on what's out there, that's all. That's it exactly JDeko. I was trying to be careful with the title of the thread with the "tactical" in quotes as a clue that I'm not serious about the "tactical". No hard feelings though towards anybody.... it's easy to get wound up about stuff sometimes. Not promising I won't ever post a thread about "tactical" air guns though. With big "cli
