  1. I have one on my 10/63 and have been using it for about a year and a half... it's alright, but no where near the quality of an AK 100 series stock. If you're mounting optics its nice, but I prefer the 100 series stock for durability and authenticity. In the long run I want to turn my Saiga into an AK-102 clone with the short barrel, so I'm dead set on the stock.
  2. Yeah from what I can tell we live about twenty miles apart. I'll see if he's interested in installing the stock.
  3. Heh, I'm interested in the wrench as well. Would like to know shipping costs before I commit to anything.
  4. I have found drums, be they MD-20's or Promags, are ultimately unreliable in my S12. Likewise I've also had jams with my AGP's, which I think are pretty good in most occasions. The SGM magazines are far better, but still not perfect. Izhmash factory 8 rounders are way too expensive to be feasible. I'd probably take factory 5 round magazines simply because they're the only thing that seems to run 100% in my gun.
  5. Anyone know of a good tutorial for installing a Russian side folding trunnion, latch and stock onto a Saiga? I've looked around with no avail... haven't been able to find a gunsmith in Raleigh willing to take the work to install the stock so I think I have to do it myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Looking to get a drop in folding stock, east German, Polish or Romanian in origin (wire stock). Looking to pay with paypal (discrete). Good condition preferred but I don't mind used, it's going into a 10/63 so it doesn't matter too much.

    Bakelite

I also have a Rhineland forearm on my .223 and I really like it. I've got mahoghany and its really nice. Just needed a bit of tung out and it was good to go.

    Bakelite

Bakelite... eh, it's okay. It's light, which is good, but it gets hot a little quick for me and it seems like it doesn't dissipate heat that well. As it ages it can get really brittle too, so it's durability wouldn't be as good as wood or a more modern polymer.
  9. Now that there's a magazine well available for the Saiga .223 that will accept standard AR-15 mags, I was curious if anyone had tried running the new Surefire 60 round Quad Stacks in their guns? Do they run well?
  10. Correction, the AR-15 wishes it was an AK.
  11. I run Bulgarian Waffles. Just simpler, dont have to worry about the mag lockback after the last shot, which I think is kinda annoying on a Saiga.
  12. Bulgarian wood looks nice tho it makes Saigas look absolutely retarder without a cleaning rod and muzzle brake. I've been enjoying my Rhineland Arms scout forearm, basically comes as unfinished wood so you have to finish it but it's 40$ and it doesn't require you to get a new gas tube or retainer for the lower and it looks a lot like a Vepr. I like that look but you might now. Personally I think the factory forearms are great, but you might want some more airflow around the barrel.
  13. How much do the nightbrakes cost? 50$? Sorry, for the same performance as the 74 brake, I'd expect it to be close to the same price. It's uglier, more expensive and offers no advantage other than being an inch shorter and an ounce lighter. I don't think its money well spent.
  14. I've got an almost new Marlin 336 in 30-30 I'm looking to get rid of. Bought it as a deer gun but ended up liking my SKS a bit better for the task. I'd really like to trade it for a cheap AK-74 in 5.45 or a Saiga 5.45 or 7.62x.39 or sell it for 375$. It's bone stock, never dinked around with. It shoots great, got less than one box of ammo downrange. No issues at all with it. Wood walnut stock is in immaculate condition and it's been in a non-smoking home. I'll include two boxes of Winchester 160 grain factory new ammo and two boxes of Hornady Leverevolution ballistic tip ammo.
  15. I have ten I can sell for 35$ a piece plus shipping and paypal fees/gift option. They're steel factory 30 round mags. They're just extra and I'm getting rid of my Mini. I also have two factory 20 round mags. They've been fired about 40 times each. Looking for 25$ a piece for them plus shipping and paypal fees/gift. I've got two Promag 20 shot 6.8 SPC mags laying around as well for the Mini. If you pay shipping they're free. I have two Promag straight 20 Thermold copies. I couldn't get them to fit in my magwell since I have a non-factory overmolded stock. I can't attest t
  16. I'm going to pass on the 5 round mag... I don't really have much use for a mag that small... only looking for Milsurp 30's (Weigers are okay) or clear polymer circle ten 20's.
  17. More or less all brand new, the SGM's have just been fit to the gun with minor filing on the back latch (they all need this from the factory). Never been shot, just sitting in my drawer. I recently did a conversion to Milsurp mags so I don't need them any more. The two factory 10's are included if you buy at 6 SGM mags for 180$. Else I'm asking 28$ plus shipping per SGM and 15$ plus shipping per Izzy. I accept paypal (gift and discrete) and USPS MO. No international sales. I am interested in trading for Bakelite 7.62 mags, Bulgarian Waffle .223 mags and will trade towards parts kit
  18. Good luck getting a G for less than a Saiga these days tho... The kits alone seem to go for about 350$ with even non matching parts. Saiga conversion is a way better deal these days. You may not have a cleaning rod or fancy grips, but you can easily do a basic conversion with quality parts for about 450 these days.
  19. I vote a guitar. Nothing more relaxing than playing. Plus then you can get all the hookers and blow you want.
  20. I need someone to help me assemble a kit gun I'm building, I have a basic knowledge of how to get everything working but I'd rather find a competent gun smith before attempting to work on the weapon myself. Can anyone recommend a gunsmith in the Raleigh NC area who will actually get back to me with a reasonable timeframe and price to get my rifle assembled?
  21. Alright well in preparation for this project, I've picked myself up a Izzy 100 series folder and trunnion. Still not sure if it's worth installing on a Draco, we'll have to see. I'm going to get one either way, it just depends on how much I like the little gun whether it gets the primo Izzy stock or something I weld up out of some old sheet steel. If I don't use the Izzy 100 stock with the Draco I'll end up putting it on a Saiga or something, maybe doing a 12k conversion or building that AK 103 SBR I've always wanted. I'll update this thread when I decide on hand rails and make this
  22. Well I've seen axis pins drive out but that was more of the users fault for not putting the retaining plate in right lol. Most malfunctions I see of the AK are either magazine related or ammo related. If you're going to run cheap-ass battlefield eastern european surplus commy-tastic shit thru your guns, expect a few malfunctions. If you stick to decent new production ammo and military contract mags, it'll go bang every time.
  23. If your definition of a good gun is one that's pretty, has a lot of options and upgrades and prints 1 inch groups, no, it's not a good gun. If your definition of a good gun is something that runs any ammo, fires dirty, dry or clogged with mud, is durable and dependable and can hit a man sized target at the max effective range of your cartridge, then the Wasr is a good gun.
