  1. Yeah, a bayo (or any less-than-practical accessory that could hypothetically help kill something) is probably part of a zombie build. Somebody in one of the rifle subforums made a short, katana-style bayonet that would probably fit. Edit: About half way down the page, THE VILLIAN's build: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/14900-this-is-the-tacked-308-picture-thread/page__hl__%20ninja%20%20bayonet__st__570
  2. I think a lot of the S12's are built more or less as zombie guns. And I would say as soon as you lock an MD20 in, it's a damn fine zed killer.
  3. The seven days of food thing is ridiculous. Everything else seems politically motivated (guns, ammo) or just plain confusing (missing fingers?!?!). But seven days of food is so relative and pretty much writes EVERYBODY into the pool of suspects. Antigun has been around for ages...but the food thing is anti-anybody-with-a-fridge.
  4. "Guns of the South"? Picture of Robert E. Lee with an AK on the cover? Fun read.
  5. I ordered one of their converted s-12's a couple weeks ago: they WILL get it to you, but it will take a while. As I understand it, they are selling them faster than their guy can convert them at the moment, but at that price, I can't complain. Workmanship is pretty good on my S-12, too. Riveted holes, everything fits tight, Molot grip and Tapco stock/trigger group. At 800, that's paying what, 50 for labor (stock gun at 600, 150ish in parts?). I meant to do a full review of it at some point, but eh, life.
  6. Picking up a S-12 was a big drain financially for me (in college at the moment), but it's totally worth it. Nobody else has anything like it, it's fun to shoot, and it will probably hold its value (or at least not depreciate radically). So DOO EEET.
  7. Mine was very tight at first, one of my two factory fives didn't want to seat. It loosened up after a while, though. I would try just snapping the mags in pretty briskly before tweaking the catch.
  8. The logistics of when home defense is and is not justified isn't really germane to the topic. While it's a fascinating topic, I'm more interested in the question of equipment choice...when force is needed is and how to apply it is going to be different for every person, for every state, and for every situation.
  9. Took a considerable amount of filing, but I got my drum fitted and it fits perfectly! Just need to clear some time and hit the range!
  10. I'm thinking this is going to be what I go with, more or less. Roll out of bed, grab it, stick the second mag in my waistband (just in case) and go check out that bumping noise.
  11. Nice. It's kind of silly, so many college students live in relatively unsecure housing, in bad neighborhoods, and we tend to be out late. But no pistols... Its so true. I live in a decent part of town and i'm a pretty big guy but its still a college town with a lot of people make awful decisions. Yeah, I'm 6'8" so nobody really messes with me, but there have been a couple incidents on my block where groups of 5 people have mugged individuals. (How does that conversation start? "Hey, you want to go mugging?" "Yeah, and we should call Tom, and Bill, they love a good mugging!")

  13. As much as I'd like to have another option, the budget is limited (silly college) and so it's between the Saiga and the Mosin nagant for me :-P And I think it might be as much of a legal problem if I bayonetted an intruder...
