  1. I purchased 2 AGP mags from the front page and was able to test them today. Out of 75 Remington 2 3/4" low brass and 50 Winchester 2 3/4" low brass, both the Wally World value boxes. One FTE and the rest flawless. Not bad. I think I will get two more before trying the Promags.
  2. 3 port S12s seem to be the norm these days. 3 or 4 ports are fine. The 2 port or less S12s are the Vodka Specials and need repair. Mine is a 3 port and converted. After about 100 rounds of low brass on #2 setting, it all smoothed out. I also did alot of the mods featured here before taking it out, (grinding & polishing). Once you do the mods, your action will be nice and smooth and makes the break in all the better and faster. Welcome to your new obsession.
  3. I do like the DHP tri rail. I may just wait and get that one.
  4. More than 95% of gun owners HAVE to be tinkers, I've had to tinker with pretty much every firearm I've owned. The other 5% can't understand why, when they buy aftermarket parts they don't work properly 95% of the time Excellent point.
  5. So what have we learned in this thread. 3 to 4 holes are good to go as long as they are not obstructed in any way. 2 or less means it needs to go back to the factory. We have also learned the serial numbers mean nothing as to the range. Those of us with 3 hole guns that are running 100% with various ammo have nothing to worry about? OK, that sounds good to me. Proof is in the pudding so to speak.
  6. I liken the S12 to a big, fat ugly, babushka AK which means it shares most of the not so tight tolerances inherent with all AK types weather made in mother Russia or a small hooch in Southeastern China. It is what it is so it is up to us to correct the weapon's few flaws. Lucky for you, me and the rest of us, there is plenty of info here and other places to rely on and use to get the S12 into fighting trim. My background is in ARs, H&Ks and some AK types for the last 20 years. Even in that time, I still have not mastered everything and I am learning new stuff every day. I researched the S1
  7. There is no getting over "Black Rifle / Shotty Disease". After ARs, AK,s and H&Ks, I have fully embraced my addiction. Now add the S12 to the list. You need to get rid of your counselor, OR take him/her shooting and spread the addiction to them. As to the OP's questions, looks like normal wear on the carrier. Even hand cycling will cause those finish wear marks. Mine has the same thing. Just the finish. If you do however notice gouges in the metal, then it may be a bent part or something else but I doubt it.
  8. I don't think he meant anything negative by the "crazy" comment. More than 95% of gun owners are tinkerers and will fix gun problems on their own. The rest, well they ask the other 95% what to do.
  9. Has it been converted? Either way, I think the BHO spring is either not installed correctly or just not there. Take it back or if so inclined, open her up and locate/isolate/repair. As to the Surefire mag not working, some mags need to be fitted to your S12. There are tons of "how tos" on the site to help with that and many other little problems. There is also a fix for the other issue you mentioned. Do not give up on the S12. It is a great shotty and well worth the tinkering to get it 100%. I just got mine about 2 weeks ago and believe me, I thought the same things, however after surfing
  10. Questions. Will KAC rail panels fit these rails pictured? I'm diggin the DPH rail. Does it install like the original?
  11. I make it a point to police all my brass and hulls every outting. I bring them to the gun show once in a while and get a few bucks for them. I have about 6 5 gallon buckets full of brass and 3 filled with 12ga hulls right now.
  12. I was thinking of getting a tri rail hand guard for my S12 but I figured if I could add accessory rails to my existing hand guard and save some cash. What say yall? Any suggestions on what /where to get rails?
  13. Tap (the mag) Rack (the slide / action to strip out the bad round and feed another) Bang (pull the trigger, if it goes bang you are GTG) How did I do? I just ordered 2 AGPs from the main E-store here. Can't wait to get them and try em out. Only exp. I have is with the factory 5s and a Surefire 12rnd I moded to 8rnd. So far they are great.
  14. Hmm. I thought it was longer. Oh well. Thanks for the info.
  15. My shop did my conversion and it looks fantastic. They installed a standard AK grip but I want to change it out for a SAW grip. Will I need to change out the standard AK grip nut or will the SAW grip screw be accepted by the nut I have now? Another thing I want to change is the standard TAPCO fixed stock they mounted to it. I wanted to change it out for a K-Var Warsaw Pact length AK stock. I like the shortened length of pull. The TAPCO replacement is a bit long.
  16. Great to hear your S12 is running like a top. I did all the mods listed on the sight (polishing, port check, Etc.) save one, the polishing of the ramp. In hand cycling rounds through, eveything is smooth as glass. The Gunfixer plug will be my next purchase thanks to the rave reviews here. On my first outing with my S12 (before the mods) I had a few stoppages but only a few out of a 100 round Winchester bulk pack. I have yet to test it out with the mods but I have faith it will be 100%. God I love my S12!
  17. The one Surefire 12 mag I picked up seems to be of good quality. Would modding it to a 8 rounder be a wise move as to keeping it from breaking? Meaning less weight? I saw Corbin's video on modding them and I have my saw ready to go. Mixed opinions on the SF 12s as I have read. As to all metal mags, they would seem to be heavy or is that not true?
  18. I'm sooo glad I found this. I just got 2 Surefire 12s and used Corbin's video to cut them down. Very cool.
  19. I have seen and read a few times where some folks "cut down" their AGP and or Surefire mags from 12 to 10 or 8 rounds. How is this done and How do they re attach the floor plates?
  20. I checked the ports ala paperclip and they are clear. We had to scrub our range outing for today due to a family matter but I'm hoping to get out either Sunday or next Thursday. I read over the stuck threads on smoothing the action and polishing the bolt / carrier. Very well done and a wealth of info. I need to check for some extra mags. My local gunsmith is out of them right now. Funny thing is he's got four MD-20 drums that are spoken for but man they look down right sexy!
  21. Anyone have pics of it installed? Duh! Never mind, I found it.....
