I grabbed my saiga-12...and unfortunatly it had been in the safe for about 2 years without firing--so I figured I would give it a good cleaning and oiling get all the dust off of it. After I did that I shined a light to make sure the barrel was clear and I saw something odd--its about 12 inches down...about where the gas turny thingy is, and its on the top of the barrel. I'm not sure what it is, I was thinking maybe powder or god forbid rust, but the patches come out clean. I got to looking and thought it might be an imperfection in the metel, or a chip or something--I've only got about 30 rou

Sounds like there is more than more owners manual out there, this is not in mine. No where in the manual is adjusting the gas system mentioned.

Every since I got my S-12 back from the gunsmith(maybe before I can remember) when I tip the gun forward I hear something sliding then *tink*, and if I tip it up I hear the same thing slide back then *tink*. It sounds like its coming from the area where you adjust the gas setting. Is this normal? Please say 'yes' I am supposed to go out to the range this weekend Thanks, Kevin

I had my stock S-12 safety knotched and it was fine, it turned out much better than I thought it would.

Wouldn't really suck to be order 1271866 knowing that if you ordered a little bit earlier you might be getting your mag 2 months earlier

My area Dunhams didn't carry the 12, only they 20's and 7.62x39's. If you want to check CDNN you have to call 1-800-588-9500. If you do let us know what they say--last I heard they were out, but they have a tendancy to find bundles of them every once in awhile. Kevin

I got one from Kmart for 1.99 it doesn't look good, but it gets the job done. But since you are asking I figure you are going for a military look--so it probably wouldn't work for you.

I got a Remington 700ADL .30-06. I like it, shoots great it doesn't kick real bad. Grandpa used to down mountain goats with it from long distance, but haven't got a chance to test its range. Sorry this has probably come up before but there were a lot of search results...I would like to have my barrel threaded for Remington chokes. Its a 22" fixed choke now... I will probably take it to my local gunsmith...two questions, from what I've read I'll have to have the barrel shortened, how short? Also my gunsmith charges by the hour--anyone know about how long this will take? Just a rough estimate--I'd like to go in there with a figure in my head--so I know he is not ripping me off.
