  1. I disaggree. Buy the 12" If he doesn't like it, it is easy to cut down to the next rib, and he only spen't a couple of bucks more for the chance to try it out. I have all 3 sizes and like them all.
  2. I considered doing that stock chop as well, but instead I went the 2x6 route, pending opportunity to fabricate the aluminum folder I want. I like the mini rail too. The factory fore-end looks and feels good, I hate to replace it with some penta-rail monstrosity that makes my shotgun handle like a boat anchor. I can't get images to work right so here's a picture.
  3. The only way I could see that mattering is due to a limpwristing issue. I do not thing that is relevant for a properly functioning saiga 12. I have tried to make mine miss feed by holding it loosely at the waist with weak ammo. No problems. you aren't going to get it much lighter than factory without making it an 8" SBS, so if it feeds your weakest ammo while holding it loosely, you should be good. If it works, it works. I think the weight is mostly an issue for blowback firearms. I have S&W target .22 that is the special heavy target version of that particular model. It has a heavier
  4. Is that self regulating gas like the newest russian ones? & russian magwell? Where can i find out more about them?
  5. I am midway through a conversion on one of mine, and using a retaining plate. It drags on the carrier as it slides on the rail. This could easily cause FTE's if not trimmed. He should hand cycle the thing and check for clearances too. I can also second the reccomendation for the KA puck. It solved my wallmart ammo issues without further work in my 4 holer.

    using 3" shells

    Yeah. that's it. It looks like it costs about the same as a saiga not including shipping, and import issues, and must weigh lots, but something is awesome about magwell comparable 30 rounds of 3" mag. I would still buy the MD instead, but I wish he would hurry up with the doublestacks. Did Promag steal the market out from under Mr. Hadley's mini drum?

    using 3" shells

    That expensive British aluminum drum had a 3" version. I can't think of the name off hand, but it looks similar to the AA, except it is known to work. It also had an option for molot magwell comparability that was attractive.
  8. Is the one on CSS different from the tac 47 autoplug?
  9. Are you moving the trigger group back? If not the Izhmash "saiganov" stock is considered sporting and "as imported." I know others have Bulgarian plastic thumbhole stocks for converted guns that look comfortable if not pretty.
  10. I have a fancy name brand 'tactical' modular paintball vest which is way too hot to wear. I had thought that it would actually do pretty well for a cheezy 3 gun rig. I now will have to try that out for real.

    Recoil Pads

    I really don't get all the macho malarkey. I know that guy above must really like his "Buttstroking" but that sounds like improper technique to me. Improved ergonomics are better. If you really buy into this "be a man, use something painful and clumsy," why aren't you using a pupm gun with a wood stock? The S12 appeals to people who want a better shotgun even if it is different from what they are used to.
  12. Why not get 12's and try them out. I like mine and have pretty much all the sizes. I think 5 is nicest looking or to carry but 12 is nice at the range. They are so close to the same cost, I don't see why you shouldn't get the 12's and cut them down later if you think they are too long. As for being clumsy with rocking and locking for a longer mag, I reccoment Mr. Travers' Magwell. It makes it a non-issue.
  13. Here's mine. The scope is great, and makes a huge difference. -- edit, it seems I am too stupid to show you a picture. sorry. I also love the specific scope which is a shotgun specific with adjustable zoom and a diamond reticle that can be used to estimate range and drop. I love that reticle. I think it makes the whole shooting experience better even at less than 100 yards and my groupings are much better, as well as faster target identification and acquisition. I have a Guntec usa brand mount and UTG rings on there. If i were to do the whole thing over I think I would use an
  14. I have seen this thread a few times over, and more or less posted it myself. So I can definitely sympathize with the OP. I am finally going to dump the cash and order one of these. I could use your help, and I think it would be relevant to the thread on the whole. I noticed on RSA's website, in the ordering form, that there were a bunch of flavors, including one that I think is intended for the unconverted saiga s. I think the one I want is called AK 7.62 on the dropdown list. (I would link, but I don't wanna violate forum rules about linking to non advertisers.) Which one do I want for th
  15. +1 on the federal. Here it is the same price. It also doesn't deform as easily as the thin walled universal. The con is that it smells more of sulfur and runs a lot dirtier so it takes more time to clean out the gas-block.
  16. I am interested in the tromix stock, The RSA Trigger, Whichever block is appropriate for the ACE hinge I already have. The extended mag release and retaining plate would be nice too, but are less critical to me. Please PM me with prices for those parts. I especially want the trigger. Thanks. Hope to hear from you soon. I know that this is a very old post and that you asked not to part it out, but if you are still stuck with all of that, maybe we can make a deal and get this stuff on a gun!
  17. I am interested, but it looks chewed up on those pins. Also is this low medium or high, and who makes it? would you take $15?
  18. cool story cfish. I used to see old Thompson mags in things like shotgun news sold full from wwII and always wanted to try that. But since I don't have a Thompson, I didn't.
  19. Ditto. I have been shopping for a shotgun that suited me for years. Still need one in stainless to replace the metalurgical joke that was the win 1300 "Marine" police special. That thing pretty much disintegrated around salt water in only 30ish years of severe abuse. If any one ever makes a stainless S12, I am getting one for my dad's bristol bay boat in the first shipment. Talk to Tom Cole at CGW... He said he is just waiting on orders to do those last i knew... Thanks for the hint. My dad and I are cash poor at the moment (thanks in part to the 2 s 12's I have now.)
  20. Mine works identically to the Factory RAA mag, wich is to say great. I am probably going to add some material, so I can make it JTE magwell friendly one of these days too.

  22. I was told my some friends that get about a 3rd of their income from ebaying antiques that the best time to start/end a sale is 6pm PST on Sunday, because you get browsers from all 3 timezones bidding each-other up, and a 7 day auction gives them a chance to get attached to the item.
