  1. looks good! i didn't know you had a mill
  2. I was still too young to have much interest in guns when the last AWB was passed, and it lifted about the same time I started collecting weapons. What can we expect if there's another AWB? Is it trying to infringe on what we already have, or instead on what can be manufactured/sold? Specifically, please advise on the following: 1) As long as we have the weapon already, can we convert them (saiga sporter->PG)? 2) What constitutes a "high-cap mag" for a pistol, rifle, shotgun? 3) As long as we have the magazines, are we allowed to use them? Or could that be breaking a law? 4)
  3. Oh yea...I forgot that. People used to wrap sandwhiches and stuff in it and didn't die, so you probably don't have to rush Oreo to the hospital, but Cobra has a good point. Good lookin' out man!
  4. Nice coozie! Did you countersink the sling swivel? Dremmel? Or what??? Nice work though!
  5. Oh well, too rich for my blood. Someday (unless the demmies ban it)...
  6. I think the G2 trigger is a lot smoother, lighter, and not as trigger-slappy than the stock one. Is there any particular reason to keep the stock one? A FCG would be about the same cost as a piston...
  7. That gun is absolutely amazing! For the money, I don't think there's a better one out there. Please post pictures and reports when you get it. Thanks!!! Also, why 7.62x39 instead of 7.62x51 (.308, i believe) or 30-06?
  8. Evil black... Be careful, the demmies might ban him.
  9. I can't believe I'm considering this...but what's the reserve?
  10. Just get a few cases of ammo...from my understanding the 50cal is something you'd only want to shoot a handful of times each sitting. If you shot it once a month every month of a year, 10x per sitting, 1000rnds would last you 8 years. 5000 rounds and you'd be good for 40 years. Nothing like a $10,000 investment ($5000 for gun, $1000 for scope, $4000 for ammo) that lasts 40 years. Hell, most of us go through a $25k car every decade, our money would be better suited invested in a 50cal which probably will appreciate with time instead of drinking gas and reselling for next to nothing.
  11. How much for the 50cal beside you?!? Man I gotta get me one of them.
  12. So what's this mean in terms of our guns? I'm expecting in the very least anothe AWB and maybe high-cap magazine ban. If I have an unconverted Saiga sitting in my safe, can I convert it after another AWB? Or do I have to do it before that happens? Will all my high-capacity nasties be grandfathered?
  13. Wow! Thanks Tony!!! I got the piston today and it's SIGNIFICANTLY lighter. I don't have a scale, but I would predict that it's ~1/2 the weight. Just holding each I can feel a difference. I can't wait to see it in action and see if it makes any difference. I'll not get to go shooting until December 22nd (not that I'm counting the days or anything), so I'll post a report then.
  14. I want to get the trigger pull on my Sig smoother, shorter, and lighter. Darn near every gunsmith offers "action jobs," but none of them say what it is! Would that be what I'm looking for? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Also, can anyone recommend a good gunsmith to work on Sigs?
  15. That's the safety?!?! I thought it was a trigger lock for which you needed a key to undo. Well damn, I wish I had known that...I might be rockin' a Steyr instead of my Sig. That's a neat little design.
  16. I've shot them and love them. The bore-line is MUCH lower than most, and the sights are awesome. I just shy away from such a low trigger pul on a DAO gun with no external safety. It is a dream to shoot though. Very comparable to the Walther P99 but with a better pull, less recoil, and half the price.
  17. yikes! expensive little buggars. thanks for the head up tho: i've always wanted a steyr aug, but can't drop $2500+. so <$2k is better than nothin'.
  18. Nice reload! Nicer guns!!!! Good lord that looked fun.
  19. That's word on the street...maybe I added an extra "0." Perhaps it's 0.02"? Maybe if the aluminium is noticably better than steel I'll up the anti and go with Ti. I thought it was a PITA to lathe though.
  20. The tolerances for a piston are within 0.002". Is it even possible to hard annodize to that strict a tolerance? And how much weight would it add? The mass savings are so slight as is, I hate to do much to increase them. I was thinking about titanium instead, but since this is still in experimental stages I can't justify that kind of money. Maybe if the aluminium proves to improve cycling but lacks hardness, but for now we'll see what happens with the aluminium.
  21. Tony is awesome enough to help me out in my forever-ongoing project to combine physics with guns by hookin' me up with an aluminum piston. So the question is...what will happen? Aluminum has a density of ~0.1lb/cu-ft vs. steel's ~0.3lb/cu-ft, but on average is about 1/2 as hard. Will it get all bent out of shape and fail miserably? Or will it let me reduce the weight of the piston thereby improving cycling-rate and reliability? Exciting times! I love science projects...
  22. When can we get on the next list?
  23. Definitely save the money for the 10rnders. Perhaps pick up an extra 5-rnder or two since you'll primarily be hunting and not need high-cap. Get a black-jack buffer over a limb-saver. The Saiga is nearly indestructable, but your shoulder is not. For $10 you'll get a noticeable decrease in recoil and if it extends the life of the gun at all, it's worth it IMHO. If you still need more recoil reduction after the buffer, then the limb-saver is a great one. But I doubt it will be too bad unless you're doing a lot of slug shooting or heavy 3" steel shots. May hold off on it until you sh
  24. Who was it? There's a few NC members (including me) that I'd not want to see get boned. Sorry that happened. That's not cool at all. Any guarantee? At least leave some bad feedback unless he resolves the problem.
  25. I was going to see if anyone might have a stock rear rifle-sight for the S12...My S20 had a rail on it, which I replaced with a ghostring+front sight. But the ghost ring was too high, so I switched it outwith my rear rifle-sight from my S12. I like the set-up so much on my S20 that now I want it on my S12, so I need a rear sight if anyone could spare it please! Thanks!
