  1. I doubt it is importable in that format anyway. Maybe a .410 in that configuration but nothing greater.
  2. DISCLAIMER: My advice comes from physical chemistry knowledge NOT 1st hand experience. You cannot use a non-polar solvent on a non-polar substrate. In other words, your winchester powder blast is a solvent for your Ruger frame. I agree with you and would use the finest grit you can get. Just a random idea, but perhaps toothpaste and lots of elbow grease before you bust out the sandpaper and possibly make the defect more noticeable? Good luck, it drives me nuts when I get a scratch in my car or a new firearm.
  3. Its for a cheap to shoot fun little pistol, nothing more really. I am divided right down the middle between the two. I haven't been so split since Sig vs. Glock vs. XD! I'd go with a CZ-52 over a TT-33 if that's a possibility. I have been looking for the CZ-52 since you guys suggested it, but it looks to be out of stock everywhere. So primarily this comes down to a Romy TT-33 vs a Makarov of any iteration. After reading up on the history of the two plus cost of ammo I am ever so slightly leaning towards the TT-33.
  4. Uh... You must have missed the last Ukrainian elections and the aftermath. The hugely unpopular, rabidly nationalist, anti-Russian government is gone. Now, Ukraine is a good friend to both Russia and the US. The same thing is going to happen in Georgia, when Suckoshvilli will be up for re-election. Still, the USSR is never coming back (definitely not under Socialism or Russian domination); even the long-planned Union of Russia and Belarus, never quite worked out. Mikhail Khodorkovsky was politically aligned against Putin (even involved in planning his violent overthrow), but he was also a

  6. Ok I have worked pretty hard for the last 8 months and am finally going to reward myself with a little C&R indulgence. I can only spend $240 (excluding shipping) so I can only get one. Which should I get? Please provide your rationale. This has been the toughest choice in firearm purchasing I've had awhile. Thanks in advance. 1.) Makarov (CZ-82) 2.) Tokarev TT-33 (Romanian or Polish) Russian models are too $$$. 3.) Other pistol for $240.
  7. The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands To fight the horde and sing and cry, Valhalla, I am coming

  8. Russia is a bunch of shiny paint on rust. Patton and MacArthur had the right ideas, our civvy leadership lacked the fortitude. Imagine a world with no communist state by 1947. Coulda..woulda..shoulda. Yeah lets start a war with Russia over a bunch of Georgian soldiers playing dress-up with a video camera.... This video, even if real, does not represent the views of the majority of Russians or Russian Americans. Hey Sal, no I am not talking about starting a war with Russia over that. Let me explain my "paint on rust" statement. When I saw that kozak douchebag khuyesos burnin

  10. I know what happens to post-May's, but what happens to inventoried pre-May samples when the FFL is no longer is in business? Liquidate? Keep as personal property with restrictions for sale? Keep with no restrictions? If it is the latter the pool of pre-May's is ever shrinking hopefully expanding the transferable pile.
  11. We're talking about unchecked agression. Over the line!

  12. That dumbass with the curly hair might as well have said "irregardless" as well. Irradiated fertilizer is NOT the same thing as radioactive fertilizer. Things that are irradiated are not and do not become radioactive i.e. they do not give off radiation. You were irradiated every time you had an X-ray or CT scan. Were you radioactive afterwords? No! You are also irradiated every time you step outside by the sun. Fly on a plane? Irradiated at a greatly accelerated rate. Own a brick or stone home? You are irradiated by the traces Uranium and Radium in the rocks/substrate. Work in your baseme
  13. Heh thanks man. I tried looking it up, can't find much. One thing I did find was this: Seems like there is definitely a lot of stuff added to the tobacco on big brands. It also said brands like American Spirit and other Premium or All Natural brands don't add stuff like that to the tobacco and are higher quality/less chemicals. It also mentions the "paper pulp" specifically that your friend was talking about. The article is a little biased towards non-smoking and I cut out one of the paragraphs that was opinions and not facts. Though the last paragraph is a little "charged" too.
  14. For the record, the Geneva Convention covers the disposition and treatment of Prisoners of War. The Hague Conventions for the core of what we think of today as the "Law of War." It prohibits, among many other things, any weapons which are designed to cause unnecessary suffering. It is the weenie lawyers on JAG staff that decided hollow point rounds met this criteria, and we are gradually starting to see them in limited distribution for "precision rifle" rounds (Black Hills BTHP) and military law enforcement (9mm HPs). Funny thing is that an HP round is actually more lethal via larger
  15. I know it's retarded, but it actually looks good on a Kel--Tec PLR 16. I've got custom aluminum fore arms with a mount. It's stupid, but looks good. Pics or it doesn't exist. We can poke fun at ourselves on this one.
  16. I got this idea from another board and it got me thinking just where is the line between prepared for contingencies and outright mall ninja/wannabe. This could be for joking around e.g "Your rails have rails." to slightly more serious "BDU's and thigh holsters at the range; all the time, every time". You are a million times more likely to buy anything in which the ad uses the terms "tactical", "sandbox", "operator", or reefers to some Mil-Spec certification. I could go on and on... So share your thoughts... Don't hold back. This should be fun
  17. It also would seem to make it permanently part of the house i.e. a fixture. I do like your idea a lot Pauly, and will incorporate it into my next safe.
  18. Mine was Blue Locktited and ever so slightly did the same wobble. I took it completely off and repeated the whole job with more locktite and really torqued down the screw the second time. It seems to have fixed it.
  19. Box O' 5.45 Truth! Nice work! I would like to see what it does compared to M855 62gr 5.56mm NATO.
  20. My wife is on/in the trust so I just leave mine sitting out like I would any other gun. Otherwise, I guess the best you could do would be to leave it loaded and locked up. You would just have to get to it . . . Thanks for the reply. I would follow your lead on this one when I buy my own Tromix shorty. I do think that SMG/FA stuff is a different matter. My argument was mostly hypothetical regarding those as the optimal incident to use them is extremely unlikely ( e.g. you have to clear your house/estate of a team of intruders with training that wont bolt at the first shot or sight
  21. Now if I was running a MP5SD I would only use FMJ for reliability, but that is incidental. The 1911A1 has +P JHP 185gr in it. I follow your point though but as garandman pointed out, LA county is a vastly different animal as far as jurisdictional/prosecutional mindset for many of us. I would estimate that a fair number of users have a registered SBS as their primary means of HD. The big question, given the law regarding access of others to NFA items, is how you store it so it's readily available if the situation arises requiring its deployment?
  22. Given the 5.56mm Saiga platform would it be feasible to build another (or a line of rifles) in 458 SOCOM? Anyway, if possible I would definitely be interested in one. Edited after looking at the pics and seeing that Tony has done this before.
  23. Just stay vigilant. The Senate has to agree to all treaties and since the Supermajority was lost via Scott Brown (R-MA) I think at least pragmatically we are ok. But as always donate, join, organize, and campaign for pro 2A candidates in both general and primary elections.
  24. i thought it was eldest son....but either way a bolt in the eye is no good lol You are right sir, thank you for the correction. It was indeed called Project Eldest Son. At my range there is a true story of a guy shooting Chinese surplus back in the early 90's that did get a bolt through the cheek. He lived and is doing fine now...but... it makes you wonder if some Eldest Son remnants are still out there.
