  1. Former assembly line worker (impact wrench), cement laborer, steel fabricator, and Democrat. Machinist, cnc machinist, maintenance mechanic since 1990. Never worked for a union, independent. I don't buy the whole move to a service based economy. A nation's health is directly measured by it's manufacturing sector, most importantly it's durable goods. A society of insurance salesmen and burger flippers will not provide a good standard of living. As a true libertarian Goldwaterite/Reaganite mix and Randian capitalist I agree with you 90 -95% of the way. Where I disagree is on a tech
  2. I like the soliloquy format. But according to The Millionaire Nextdoor by Thomas Stanley you would be more likely to achieve $1 Milion in wealth driving an F-150 till the wheels literally fall off.
  3. That was good, still laughing 5 minutes later. Hehe..
  4. GE is owned by people who INVESTED IN IT. That money belongs to them, not the employees. If you want a piece of the action, buy a piece of the company - put some skin in the game... or, didn't that occur to you? Bounce, seriously come on. Did you read and digest my earlier posts? I am a Randian capitalist, as in Ayn Rand of Atlas Shrugged fame. I have been both a blue collar employee and a shareholder. I proposed a 50% reduction in the federal corporate tax rate as it is the second highest in the world and it is unjust in terms of double taxation regarding shareholders. To make it
  5. I just worked the numbers of one facet of my plan to keep companies here. I used 2008 GE data with the assumption of 300,000 non-management workers (based off Wikipedia number of 323,000 total in 2008). At just 7.5% profit sharing each non-executive or management employee would have gotten about $4477.50 additional that year. GE is not the leanest or best % profit margin company either.
  6. Good point. My point of view stems from what the regime is doing now with possibly endless unemployment extensions. What do they become then when the former worker is content to no longer work as they are being incentivised not to currently e.g. my mooch neighbor who has been offered 3 jobs but would rather sit on her ass, wake up at 11am and watch her stories? As you describe it, I would agree wholeheartedly that it is more akin to insurance. Welfare programs that are not limited in time or scope serve a corrosive purpose to create permanent underclasses. When I see the plight of my fel
  7. Because, I am (truly blessed these days to be) too busy with my 2 jobs and being the best father I can be to my wonderful 9 month old. Worthington Industries is a great American company with an exemplary corporate culture that treats its people fairly. I heard of this and how they were kicking butt and became a shareholder years back. I reluctantly had to sell my shares to help finance my honeymoon but I would not hesitate to own them again.
  8. I don't think thats accurate. All cutting corporate taxes and lowering worker benefits does is put us in a race to the bottom with countries that employ slave labor. If you want to keep corporations here, threaten their officers and investors with jail time for moving capacity or funds overseas. Thats the model we need. Regulate businesses that want to have access to our market. Accurate? These are just my proposals not a position paper from an NGO think tank. You may have missed the part where I stated that the companies that take the 25% tax cut must, by force of law, pay out, at
  9. Reuters is owned (53% stake) by the Woodbridge Company which is controled by the Thompson family of Canada. Rothschild & Sons is not involved. Interesting, thanks. No Problem. They are not a vary big bank. They are just easy targets because of the family name and the fact that they were founded by Jews. I mean, the conspiracy nuts always are posting shit about the Rothschild's owning the world when in reality they are not a vary big player in modern banking. Sorry to thread hijack, I think its shitty that all our industrial capacity has been moved overseas. The obvious sol

  11. Hmmm.. never thought of it for carry, but you are spot on about pointability. But are they finicky given the unorthodox action and thus unsuitable for a CCW? I am not sure. I myself like the more esoteric so I carry a Mauser C96 M1916.
  12. Hmmmmm..... Finally a use for all those old Playboys.

  14. That's how America was before the unions. Yep. My family are immigrants and when my great-grandfather came here at the turn of the century the labor conditions were terrible. It is one of my favorite things to read about and remember, how these big companies will resort to the same exploitation if only given the slightest chance. The big difference between us and China is a free press. Those conditions would never happen here again with that factor in place. Having said that, Right to Work laws in all 50 states are needed, not more union power. Unions once served a valuabl
  15. However Perot's involvement can be cited as the deciding factor of Bill Clinton's electoral victory. That is exactly why the Tea Party movement must be ever vigilant to weed out the megalomaniac nutjobs or the agent provocateurs/leftist saboteurs. The statist left is terrified of the electoral avalanche that is coming and the only viable option that could ameliorate the damage would be a splitting of the vote like in 1992 with a 3rd party candidate (presumptively of a nominal Tea Party) that would siphon votes off the Republican in all these congressional races. In fact, the respected pollst
  16. So, how should cops deal with a totally uncooperative and combative person? Ask them "pretty please"????? Please...when it get's this bad and usually not even that bad you guys pull one of your weapons and put the guy in cuffs. What I'm saying is there are all sorts of ways to get control of a situation and they don't involve a Billy Bad-Ass attitude. What ever happened to speak softly and carry a big stick? This attitude you speak of is nothing more than a green light for a sadistic emotional release. And I've about heard enough of the "bad apples in every bunch" argument.
  17. What was the logic of banning barrels in parts kits? They could be used as clubs (MG34, MG42, Bren etc)?? They wanted to prop up American barrel makers that mistake 5.56mm for 5.45mm? I just don't see why as it by itself is not a firearm i.e the receiver.
  18. Not with this Supreme Court or the 41 members (thank you Mass voters) in minority of the Senate, our truly last lines of defense until 11/2/2010. The socialists shot their Reconcilation wad on Obamacare, and you can only use it once per year. So it would take some doing to ram anything further down the taxpayers throats although I remain vigilant for the attempt.
  19. NRA is a single issue organization. Since way more Republicans/Conservatives/Libertarians are pro 2A on average than Democrats/Liberals/Socialists it can seem at times that they are firmly in the camp of the former.
  20. Droooooooooool..... Nice! And that folks, may just be the best damn argument for the RDIAS route I've seen!
  21. So, if you go the trust route can you still deduct the $200 stamp off your personal taxes or is it just less of a hassle to consider it gone?
  22. I thought I would start this topic because I was curious about them pertaining to any future Title II collection I or any of us may have. For those not familiar with the term, DIAS refers to Drop-In-Auto-Sear. This little but extremely valuable chunk of metal +/- spring are currently most populous in the AR15 and HK line that existed in 1986 (MP5, G3, etc. ) This part is considered a machine gun by the ATF and is transferred and registered as such. With all other full auto parts (save the auto sear of course) installed a Registered DIAS can legally convert a semi-auto AR to full auto/3rd burs
