  1. Writing the tech branch is a good call. I'm going to try and do that after the new year. If I hear back I'll let people know.
  2. As is widely parroted on the 'net, the ATF apparently ruled that if a device is legal, it is legal regardless of how it's used. Specifically, in regards to the Sig Pistol Brace, you can shoot it however you want--including from the shoudler--and the ATF letter specifically references FTB # 99146 to support it. The problem, though, is that I can't seem to find FTB # 99146 anywhere so I can see what it says. I can find thousands of references to it--in the form of that ATF letter being reprinted thousands of times--but nothing else. Anyone have a line on the actual document referenced?
  3. I use a short foregrip (I can't remember the brand)--and I don't consider it Mall Ninja equipment. My grip position is a light c-grip on the fore-end of the weapon. I wedge my hand into the gap created between the top of the VFG and the lower fore-end, so my pinky and ring finger hit the top of the VFG, my middle is on the bottom of the fore-end, and my thumb wraps around the side. It's a standard recoil-managing grip good for close-quarters. It is not the exagerated C that has become all the rage with competition shooters. It's the same grip I used in while service, and it's ser
  4. So, forgive me if I'm dense... Wait. We know I'm dense... Anyways, I think I'm with the folks telling him to bore into his gas ports, but I'm having trouble understanding what, exactly, his problem is. Is his bolt simply failing to cycle (shoot and no scoot)? Is the extractor failing? If the bolt isn't moving at all, I highly doubt it's the problem (though running full-power combat loads will find out for sure). If it were me, the first thing I'd do is invest $5 in a box of slugs or 00 buck. Put it on setting 1 and see what happens. If you still get no bolt movement, al
  5. Opted for the In-Line commercial tube and Magpul CTR from CSS--and Greg had it shipped out in about four hours! Gotta love Carolina Shooters Supply!
  6. Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I love 60s conversion kit; that looks tight as hell. I'll PM him about it. Also got to play with a buddy's S12 tonight that has a Magpul on it...and I just loved the hell out of it. Depending on what 60 says, I'll probably go with the adapter from CSS and a Magpul of one form or another. I guess I can spend a little extra on it. She is my baby, after all...
  7. This isn't what your asking, but here's an outside opinion anyways. 4" of barrel will not dramatically effect your ability to operate (i.e. it will not make it noticeably easier to move through doorways, transition to and from the weapon, etc.), but it will have a significant impact on the effectiveness of the weapon in terms of patterning, barrel-travel for rifled slugs, etc. If it were me, I would rather have a little more length and a more effective killing machine, than just that much shorter a gun. There is a point where shrinking the barrel of a PDW becomes counter-productive.
  8. Hey gang, So I'm finally breaking down and putting a collapsible stock on my girl; the old NATO-length stock+recoil pad is just too long to run with armor on. I think--despite the fact that I don't like the looks as much--that I'm going to go with an M4-style buffer tube and stock. Not that I'm sold on that, mind you, it's just that it's what I know and seems to work best. But I want opinions. I've still got the tang on my shotgun, so I want a tube and adapter that work with that. I also don't want to break the bank and go all Magpul with it. Folding isn't important to me; c
  9. Has anyone tried the Phoenix Kicklite collapsable stock? I want to do an M4 variant, but have no idea which to choose. If that Kicklite isn't worth the money, I may go with a standard adapter and a Magpul---but that's a much more expensive option. Thoughts?
  10. I vastly prefer beefing up the handle one way or another. I've got big hands, and in any kind of adverse conditions (wet, muddy, gloves, etc) I get shit-for-purchase on the standard hook. Every AK pattern gun I own has a tromix knob on it, and I am much, much happier for it. This design looks interesting, but--to me--not as a left-handed option (because of optics). It would vastly increase your purchase with your right hand, though.
  11. Personally, I wouldn't do anything else until you find out what it will run. You can always cut later, but I'd try and dial in where your at now. But, at a minimum, I'd get a read on how she's feeling and what she wants to eat.
  12. That looks fantastic! Seems like exactly what I'm looking for. Couple of questions: 1) I don't understand the "standard 5/8ths inch interface" reference. Does it require the tang to be cut off? 2) Butt-pad included? 3) How's the vibration of aluminum against the cheek? And do you know of any comb/cheek pads that will fit it? Thanks, Tony!
  13. Suppressed is a relative term. Technically, it works--but based on the Sons of Guns episode where they showed RJ putting a can on a shotgun, it's far more gimick than effect. It doesn't meet any kind of practical definition of suppressed and I sure as hell wouldn't shoot it without ear-pro.
  14. I'm still trying to figure out how assembling a bunch of already well-used systems is "innovating." How many gas piston ARs are on the market now? Has no other vendor ever paired them with magpul parts? Because it looks like that's all they did. Shit...I could've been an industry leader a year ago. And to sell them for $2,400. For that price I can get a SCAR--which does everything their gun does, plus a whole helluva lot more. I just don't get it.
