Hello XDM .45
Heath_h49008 replied to saigalupo's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
The XDM must be a huge step down from the original XD45. I wasn't really curious about the XDM series until now, but hearing this I want to know what they did. When I purchased mine, the XD45 was second only to the H&K for feel and function. I am not a fan of Glock or Sig. Is the XDM a new series, or just cosmetic changes to the old weapon to sell it to the "Tacticool"? -
Most Reliable Handgun?

Those who talk about revolver reliability have never held a GP 100 and watched it hang between cylinders and jam. All machines CAN fail. As for the rifle question... The H&K delayed roller blowback system is more reliable/fewer parts to fail than the AK 47 gas piston system, and capable of sub-MOA accuracy. But it is expensive, and modifying it requires skill to keep the gun "timed" correctly. Buy a cheap piston AR and a cheap AK... shoot what you can afford to become competent with, but have both in the toolbox. IMHO -
Most Reliable Handgun?

I have to admit, I carry a .380 in the summer, and the XD45 in the winter. Depending upon clothes, your frame, and how you carry, concealment will in some part dictate what you pick. Nothing is more annoying than someone with a bad carry. If I can see it in line at the bank or when you sit down in a chair, you need to do some thinking. I personally prefer .45ACP as a man-stopper, and feel better knowing I have 13 more rounds to back the first one up. Also, the .45ACP is NOT a bad round to double-tap. I have heard so many stories of people acting like a 45 was bad, I wanted to make tha -

Owning a Glock is like banging a fat chick, or riding a moped.... Come to think of it, I think I see a lot of the same guys doing all of the above! -

I loved the 1911.. I was a snob for quite a while, but reliable? No. They can be quite fussy about mags and ammo. My Springfield XD45 is boring. No matter what I feed it, or how I abuse it, it always goes "bang". XD series in .45acp is damn hard to beat. -
Attention smokers.

How about everyone can buy and smoke whatever they want? And you can make whatever you want to sell to them. The only law I favor is full disclosure of the ingredients. Blacklights detect radioactivity? Wow... yeah, the public school teachers deserve more money when they produce idiots like that. -
Israeli can of whoop ass

That wasn't an Israeli weapon, or a Syrian tank, or even combat footage. That was test range footage... from the mid 1990's by the looks of it, of a TOW missile being tested against an old British Chieftain tank. The cook-off of the tanks ammo and fuel was cool though. -
1/2 of the parts are here.... Tang cut, trigger swapped... Waiting....

Damn! Murphy's Law... Yeah, I have the internals on the way already, as well as the stock, magwell and mags. Right now all I need is the quad rail, and a good muzzle brake.

Maybe we should try to get this "sticky-ed" on the S12 forum.

AWESOME THREAD!!!! Thanks. Seriously, the pics are great and show what is required for several possible issues. Heath REP POINT+

I have done some major work on H&K G3 type weapons in the past, but never an AK pattern, so I might not be any kind of "Expert" , but I know how to handle my tools. (Yes, that IS what "she" said.) It all seems to be just dremel, drill, and tap work. I'll let you judge when I get done if you want to use it. I'll probably just stick it up on Youtube. Heath

This is NOT political
Heath_h49008 replied to Sly's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
No... It doesn't matter what party, or what politician is in charge. The only action that should be taken is to deploy the Army and Air Force. -
Nope. I'm just going to save my factory guard and safety stop. I'm cutting the hole for the grip bolt and nut, so why buy one? Pics to come. I'm planning on making a vid of the Magwell install anyway. You can laugh when I screw something up and have to beg for help! (I'm planning on something going wrong, but hoping it doesn't.)

I'm doing the internal receiver block, pignose, hinge, and collapsible AR stock combination on my build... Block= $35 at MAA Pignose= $18 at CSS Hinge= $17 at Centerfire systems Stock w/tube= $29 at Centerfire systems total= $99 + S&H But if I don't like it, I can sell the parts and have more options with what I have... fold or not, aftermarket-AK or AR style, or even just all the different AR options fixed or folding. I'll post pictures at the end of this week or the beginning of next. EDIT: I had to have at least 1" of something added to mine to keep her over 30

Check the mag and don't be afraid to be a little rough on it when you rock it in. There are two points on the exterior, 75% of the way down the mag toward the trigger that hit the bottom of the receiver, you can trim those points slightly, or just jam the damn thing in and the receiver will do the trimming work itself. After a few times she will loosen up and snap into place... ... at least that's what I did. Heath

OK... here we go... I have a 19" 2008 man. date S12. 3 ports perfectly centered, and non-canted gas block. Runs fine. I have ordered, or have in hand.. Standard AK47 trigger, disconnector, and grip with bolt and nut. one shepards crook A tapco t6 stock and tube A leapers folding stock adapter for the AR stock A "pig-nose" adapter A bolt in stock block adapter I also have a JT AGP magwell (1st Generation) and possibly some mags on the way... (fingers crossed) I have not yet secured a fore-end, but am leaning towards the Chaos over the UTG... (whoever

We have a State Mental Hospital here in Kalamazoo, a few residence facilities and the mission... all downtown. You get used to the "Bums". Most are mentally ill, and drug addicts. I get the impression the State hospital just turns them loose after treatment and they hang around. What I'm noticing, is they are getting a whole lot more aggressive than they used to be. I don't know if it is because times are tight and they don't have the handouts they used to, or if the Meth/crack/oxy combination they take these days has made them worse. Are you guys seeing the same thing elsewhere?

When I was dating my wife, we had gone to a bar-restaurant downtown that happened to have a good vegetarian burger. (Katie was almost vegan at the time.) It isn't really a bad area, as Kalamazoo goes, and we parked in a well lit lot between the place and the hospital complex. We left at about 11:00, and as I was putting her in the car I noticed a bum stepping really fast towards us from the end of the lot. I was on the pass side of the car. When I closed her door I locked it with my key fob, and turned to shoo the bum off. He had made it right behind and seemed startled that I turned a
