  1. The Bride loves her Benelli M2 with SpeedFeed's short LOP tactical stock and Tritium night sights. She uses a neoprene and foam raised comb to get her sight alignment just right, and reduce the recoil on her cheek. Much, much lighter than the Saiga.
  2. Yes it's a $250 shotgun. No, I paid $550 for it. Yes, I did a lot of work to it. Sure, I can build you one just like it for $1500. -Kris' Signature (above) Now that is funny! I think I have said nearly those exact words at least five times.
  3. I want my 00 buck to pattern at CQB distances. At 50 yards I am switching to the mag of slugs I have coupled to my mag of 00 buck. I friggin' love Ammunition-To-Go for 12 ga specialty rounds.
  4. That is where he usually holds it, so I am guessing yes. Are you an IZ member?
  5. "Training is one of the best investments you can make." -Rusty Truck I agree. To that end: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=52084
  6. Upcoming Tactical Shotgun Course Near Houston http://www.hoffners.com/hoffsked.htm I have taken several of Brian Hoffner's courses, and he is really a great instructor. I am going to take the Tactical Shotgun course in August using an S-12. It would be great to have some other Saiga operators on the line, too. I have already started saving for tuition and ammo, and am doing my PT. All of those presentations and the recoil from a 12 ga will kick your ass if you haven't been doing your push ups. However, a weekend of repetition under the eyes of an instructor is the best and fastest
  7. 400? I would have thought Moe's number would be divisible by three. 2 in the chest, 1 in the head, Mozambique, times however many targets.
  8. thinks a big disconnect from what he reads vs what he sees.

  9. ...It just takes a little bit of planning to think what you would do if isht hit the fan. I recommend you (everyone) plan for the worst and hope for the best. At risk of sounding cliche as all hell, always be prepared. I think if you are verbally warning intruders, teens or not, and they don't listen to you... the next step being a shot fired at center mass to stop the threat is... well, I hope I misunderstood that part of your post... -Loveless Considering that your life is probably on the line, I don't think a little bit of planning to think what one should do is really adequate
  10. I appreciate much of what you say, however, I would like to point out that that warning shots are not part of any training I know of, probably for several good reasons: One fire's a weapon to stop a threat; if you want to warn them use verbal commands. One should train to fire at center mass, not to intentionally miss. One is responsible for all rounds leaving the weapon and passing through the neighbor's kitchen, and the neighbor's kid, even if it was only a warning shot. Etc.
  11. Keep a 12 rnd of 00 buck in the S12 w/ bolt held open, and an 8 rnd of stainless steel AP slugs coupled to it.
  12. Two guns and two people who have trained together, even a little, are way better than one man and one gun. That said, get your wife a weapon she can call her own. A dog(s) in the house AND a dog(s) in yard is best. Poison train the dog in yard; protection train the dog in the house. Most doors are one-kick doors. At a minimum, replace the 3/4 " brass screws in you door hinges with 4" stainless screws. Better still, get this: http://www.djarmor.com/ Once you understand how easy it is for a competent operator to defeat an inside-the-house ambush in complete darkness you will want to
  13. I use a Polychoke and have patterned my S12 with a variety of loads. With slugs, and choke wide open, it groups 2" low at 14 feet. Dead-on considering I did not use a hold-over to account for the offset of the fixed sights. With 00 buck 2-3/4" using modified (fuzzy recall) the center of the group was again just weighted slightly below the X at 14 feet. I still need to run the same test without the PolyChoke. I know 14 feet is really too close to measure a group, but since the S10 is a CQB weapon for me, I figured 2x CQB was the max distance I was willing to go. I would thin

    Sling options

I don't know how much tactical work you have done, or instruction you have received, but when you realize that exactly half of the cover in the world is left handed, then you may want to consider a single point sling.
  15. In addition to what has been written above, let me add that it is very important to never open the door for anyone who is not a family member, period. Don't let them see you. Get an intercom. Have delivery drivers leave the package on the porch. Never open the door to sign anything. Home invasions using stolen delivery trucks are not unheard of. Also, if you are going to have a guard dog, then you must poison proof it. This is not technically difficult for the dog, but requires significant discipline for the owner.
