  1. I was using 2 3/4 1 ounce Estate Rifled slugs (1610 FPS) and was sighting at 50 yards. I have used these slugs very successfully a lot with my red dot in the past.
  2. I have the Chaos rail (really well built), but I am not used to using HK sights and I am shooting way high. When set at 1 (open) I am hitting head=shots when aiming lower torso when post is flush with notch. Is the front post adjustable? Are their different sized posts. I had a couple of people at the range take a look, but they were not familiar with the HK sights. (I have it sighted perfectly with red dot -so I am not jerking shots etc.) It is probably something simple/stupid, but I am most mostly a pistol/AR guy and could not get it right. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks
  3. Thanks for the help all- I finally got it off and all is working well in the land of the 12 rounder again after today's trip to the range. It was about 18 degrees -- probably not the best day for a range trip. Although, it is amazing how light the trigger pull seems when you can't feel your finger tips
  4. I just got a replacement body from Surefire for a 12 round magazine. (The service was great getting the replacement part out and fast). But, I am having problems getting the base plate off so that I can put it and the other parts on the new body. Is there some sort of trick that I am missing? I just push in the the locking tab in the middle of the base plate and try to slide the base off correct? It is tight as hell and I have muscled it pretty well and tried to tap the plate off lightly with a small hammer/screw driver and still virtually no movement. I dont want to break it by forcin
  5. .Nicklebon, you are a fucking idiot. I don't ever talk to people on this forum like that but I'll gladly make an exception for you. Nicklebon, I'd have to side with you. An owner has a responsibility to his neighbors and the animals under his care. Are the vaccination up to date on a wandering animal? Is the animal vicious? How is the neighbor to know? I recognize my neighbors' pets. Even a beloved pet can go after livestock, especially fowl. A single attack can result in often dozens of dead fowl; the attack as much for sport as food. There is credible evidence that domesticated pe
  6. Sorry to hear about your dog dude, that is jacked up. When I moved in to my neighborhood (in RI ) it was right around the time of the DC sniper attacks. I was out on my small back deck smoking a cigar and my dog was hanging out with me to my left, facing the street. I looked over at her and there was a fucking red dot lit up on her side!! I whistled to her and she bolted over to me and out of the dot. From the angle I was at I couldn't see where the laser came from to trace it back. It was probably some dumb ass kid playing with a laser sight, but I called the cops and the came down and lit
  7. If you do go down the AR path you will not be disapointed in the S&Ws. I have an M&P Tactical and I a love it. It has been rock solid. It eats everything that I have fed it - from mil-spec 5.56 to cheap zinc coated Brown Bear .223 --- Flawlessly. I am not at all as good as I should be with cleaning it and still no problems. Since cost of ammo has been mentioned, I will mention that I paid $200 for a 22LR conversion with 2 26 round mags. That has worked incredibly well for me too. It even shoots the cheapo 500 rd box of Walmart ammo that go for $15. It is a lot of fun for blasting at
  8. Thanks for the reply Frogfoot, and thanks for confirming the 8 round recco for reliability on mags. That will definitely be what I use until the metal mags are available. Of any problem to have on day one after mods, busted magazine was definitely the easiest to fix.
  9. Well, unfortunately I have to add myself to the list. I just received my "restored" Saiga 12, and took it to the range in 42 degree temperatures. Not a typo - actually a warm spell here in RI! My gun worked flawlessly with russian 5 and Surefire 10, low brass no 3" shells. Then I put in the Surefire 12 round, fired one round and the guy next to me yelled, "hey dude you dropped something." Turned out the lip on the mag snapped off and the mag with 11 rounds in it was lying on the ground. I have never, ever experienced a catastrophic failure like that with any other firearm that I have had
  10. Congrats on the gift, and the cool wife. I am picking up my new Saiga 12 tomorrow which my wife is giving me for Christmas-- mags and parts are already here. The hardest part will be having to let her wrap it and wait to open it on Christmas Day. Worse will be having to wait thru all of the Christmas festivities to be able to take to the range on the 26th. Nothing says happy holidays like a new gun:) Enjoy!
  11. My name is a combination of two of my favorite things...Black Guns, and a quote from one of my favorite movies "This is Spinal Tap" when discussing the color of the new album with a black cover, the question was asked "how much blacker could it be?" The answer - "None more blacker"
