  1. I wonder if anyone has tried a guide rod S-12...
  2. 6.5 and 6.8 factory ammo is available (I think even Wolf makes some). So you won't be at that much of a loss being a non-reloader. Either of those cartridges probably carries enough energy for deer out to about 400 meters, and quite a bit further for p-dogs. 260 Remington would carry even further but factory ammo is crazy expensive, not to mention that you'd need an AR-10 to shoot it. If it wasn't for your requirement to shoot dangerous game and deer, I'd still suggest at least considering an AR-15 in .204 Ruger. Factory ammo is available and not too expensive, and it shoots super flat
  3. Even if the Wraithmaker drum did work properly when clean, the open sides are still a poor design choice. Some people learn from history. Others are doomed to repeat it.
  4. Here's a good writeup on the Hakim: http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting2005/hakimstory/index.asp I've never heard of an Israeli version, but there are surely a bunch of Egyptian battlefield pick-ups in Israeli hands. The Hakim is basically a Swedish AG-42 Ljungmann in 8mm Mauser. Egypt bought tooling directly from Sweden and changed up to 8mm to make use of plentiful milsurp Mauser ammo left over from WW2. The Hakim also has an adjustable gas system so you can tune it to work with a greater variety of ammo. They're pretty cool rifles. Good shooters, easy enough to maintain, and ver
  5. Why not go all out? Buy a ton of Hescos and rent a front end loader. Just double check with your HOA beforehand to make sure they're cool with your new landscaping
  6. Two big questions: First what kind of shooting do you do? Second, do you reload? I don't reload (yet), but would like to. .50 BMG doesn't appeal to me that much in an AR platform, and if I did invest in one it would be its own rifle rather than an AR upper. .204 Ruger AR uppers, however, are pretty nice. It's a great varmint round for groundhogs, prairie dogs, coyotes, etc. Shoots flatter and bucks the wind better than 5.56, and the cost and barrel life aren't too much worse than 5.56. Pistol caliber uppers: meh... Doesn't really appeal to me, but it's not a bad idea. Big B
  7. Well.... one missing part is an auto bolt carrier with extension to actuate the auto sear.
