  1. Meat pistons, funny, we used to call pilots 'meat servos' when I worked in aviation. I guess I'll consider myself a competent, confident, well-armed fool, then.
  2. I like sharp force weapons better. I've an excellent machete that is useful for so many things. I do need to make a scabbard for it though. Cold Steel is making a 'Gladius' machete now. More of a fun toy, but I have found it useful for yard work. Edges were a little rough, 1/2 hour with a Lansky puck & some diamond laps did the trick. Just the thing for removing unwanted limbs... Battlemace, sadly discontinued, never needs sharpening. Adds a whole new dimension to 'breaking & entering' here:
  3. More of an indirect dig at myself, since I'm as much Irish as anything else. Also Austrian, Scot, English, Welch, French(merde), & Catawba(wish it was more so I didn't sunburn so easy...). Bit of a Hessian/Gallowglas hybrid. Used to be a fairly heavy (understatement can be a form of humor) beer drinker. Supposed to avoid alcohol nowadays due to meds. Still, once in a while I'm unable to outrun or out maneuver a beer or two.
  4. Gender ambiguous youngster who happens to have an interest in firearms seeking attention is my opinion. Sometimes an annoyance, but not enough to use the ignore function. Actually funny or relevant once in a while. Not everyone is the same, obviously. If Jdeko's posts are too much for you, by all means, use ignore, don't suffer in silence (or loudly [or loudly, whatthehell?]). My 'cringe muscles' have been pretty well inured by some of Gaddis' posts, but he seems to have the whole 'push the envelope & make folks cringe, without overdoing it' thing down to a science. I'd miss hi
  5. Wake up, Al. You're just having a bad dream...
  6. OK, messed that all up... WTF? Not yet. The only bullpup I've tried so far is a Kel-Tec RFB.
  7. Just found out about Zastava M90NP. I believe I may have to get one of these, perfect companion to my M85NP. http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/zastava-pap-m90np-5-56x45mm-rifle-with-ar15-magazine-adapter-detail.html?Itemid=0 AK reliability & durability with AR mag/ammo capability. It's annoying that the optics for my SGL31 probably won't work or be awkward with it, but RS Regulate is making a 307 mount for Yugo pattern now, though I'm leaning towards the TWS dogleg. For a bug-out rifle, this would certainly be a better 'live off the land' cho
  8. Sorry. For me, it remains Mount McKinley, that grand passion stone in Australia remains Ayers Rock & Pluto remains a planet. But that's just me...
  9. What you might try for chamber/throat cast. Too shallow a leade might make big difference due to different ogive profiles of different loads.
  10. Toilet paper, bic lighters, tobacco, alcohol, spices & seasonings, hard candy, (anyone know longest shelf-life chocolate?) and COFFEE. Freeze-dried instant (meh, better than nothing) can keep for years if stored right. Un-roasted beans too. In answer to original OP scenario, Probably SGL31 & S&W 5906.
  11. Had the 'lower range' (speed-rock distance & out to 200 yards) to myself today. 97 degrees, windy & so dry that a rattlesnake would need a canteen. Someone had dragged the shooting bench (cable spool) back 10 yards, Must've wanted to shoot at 100 meters instead of yards. I was too encumbered with sandbags & such (and too hot & lazy) to drag it back. Brought the M1 carbine (and a cleaning rod to knock out stuck steel cases. Oh yeah, I got a good deal on that Tula ammo) Old-school AR. Total list of tacticool accessories, gadgets, bells & whistles: a sling.
  12. 1K Fiocchi .223, a couple boxes of Winchester 38 super silvertips, 5 magazines for said 38 supers in 1911.
  13. Fiocchi 55 gr SP .223 clearance at Midway. $6.32/20 or $63.00 for 10 boxes of 20. Got some yesterday. Tried it today in old AR & Yugo M85. Ordered more today. Will do post on results later.
  14. Wasn't there a line in there something like: "You can stop hitting Cheyenne Mountain, it's not there anymore." Been about 30-40 years since I read it. Watch out for stobor...
