  1. OK Forgive the newbie question, but who's CGW?
  2. Does anyone make a virgin US made receiver that I could use to make an AOW with? Email me here
  3. Also a good idea! I will carry a dremel with me tommorow.
  4. Yup that's what I am talking about! Thanks!
  5. I have a S12 shorty that I am working on, when you fire it it catches the bolt after every shot or every other shot. Not cool. Part of it is because I don't know how the spring is installed I think. Can someone assist? Maybe a diagram or photo showing how the catch is installed would help. Also disregard the other post below, I accidentally posted using my screen name instead of the topic!! Duh...

  7. Nailbomb, not that it's a functional issue at all, but it looks like your welder installed the HK sight hood backwards. The HK weapons that I have seen have the slope facing towards the muzzle. Nice welds though!
  8. Let me get this straight, you need to know how to get your wood on? Heh, heh hehh. He said wood.
  9. Might be worth mentioning that threads cut with a die nut are only good for flash hiders. Can't use em with suppressors. If thats your intention then you have saved some coin and I will shut up!
  10. Yeah I think pinning them on is out of the question for me. I have done quite a few pin jobs on various other guns, so I am familiar with the process. But I also know how thin the shotgun barrel is and how poorly centerline pinning has performed on the other guns I have done ( mostly AR15's).
  11. Shooter I LOVE your photo of my wife Yes I plan to shorten a barrel and perm attach something on it to non NFA configuration. We can't have SBS's in this state.
  12. Curious how folks are permanantly attaching muzzle brakes etc. to a Saiga 12? The barrel thickness is too thin for pinning, and the same seems true for silver solder? I am not that good with silver solder but I can probably send it out to have that done if need be if thats the best process to use. Anyway, just thought I would consult with the S12.com gurus before I tried learning from my own mistakes!
  13. Just curious how well folks think a CAR15 stock would work on a Saiga 12? Would it buckle under the recoil or would it work just fine? First hand accounts welcome!
  14. Just so were clear, the boss I speak of is a class 2 SOT so NFA is possible, but he insists the the guns be non NFA. I dissagree with the instructions I am getting. I was pretty sure it was from the bolt face on a closed bolt, so your statement is pretty much confirmation.
  15. OK I have been tasked with shortening a couple S12's to their minimum legal length without going NFA. I think theres only 1/2" I can trim off to make it 18.5" and thats not worth the effort. I am being told otherwise. So the question is where does the chamber face or measuring point begin on a S12? I would say it's from the bolt face on a closed bolt in the receiver. My boss says it's from the extension. I need to please my boss, but don't need to break the law. Because in the end, I cannot tell ATF that I did it just because I was told to. They would still come after me.
  16. Tony, I like your 1919k there, doing some welding with it I see? Or maybe you planned on incinerating the target!
  17. Yeah I think I agree with Fume, thats what I did. I just worked it back and forth with a little oil. I did look in to the tap deal though, but I geuss I already said that.
  18. Maybe Tony will chime in here, but I did a couple of those, the HK front sight was attached about midway on the gas block. If you need an exact location that is not near the threads, measure it with your caliper and mark with pencil your location. No need to be real high tech about it, just accurate is all. Also I don't know how others handled this, but I had some minor overpenetration with the welding process. This lead me to purchase a brass lap and some abrasive compound to true up the bore of the gas block. Everything is just fine now.
  19. Don't know about the S20, but if it's the same as the S12 it's 22x1M . And hold on to your hat because they don't come cheaply. My local machinist store needed to have one ground for me custom, asking price was $160. I decided to go without.
  20. It's understood that a complete weapon cannot be imported. It's also worth pointing out that barrels in assault weapon parts kits cannot be imported anymore unless they have been mutilated ( read as torched in half) . This is new, as in within the last 5 years I think, but it still stands. I suspect this is where the original poster was finding some difficulty. Domestic barrel production is really the only legal way around this.
  21. Maybe I am missing something but I cannot see how that shotgun could be imported at all if it's assembled as it is. Furthermore barrels of it's type cannot be imported either. The problem as I see it is two fold. 1) 1989 imported assault weapons ban, which never sunset like the domestic ban did. This gun pretty clearly is in an assault weapon configuration. 2) Recent interpretation by ATF that prohibits the import of weapons that are destined for building an assault weapon domestically. Parts kits cannot be sold with an intact barrel. Like I was saying, I only glossed over this topic so
  22. LOVE your little video clip. Thanks for the tech advice guys! For some reason, that didn't even occur to me!
  23. Bought a Tromix brake and was wondering how people secure them onto the muzzle? I think a set screw would be right out of the question as it might put pressure (thus denting) the muzzle. Silver solder? Seems rather permanant. Discuss and let me partake of the knoledge of this site!
  24. Thanks for all the responses. I thought I had that damn thing right! Either than or my trusty milling machine is in question....
  25. OK I will accept full responsibility for this, but help me out in understanding what happened. Being a machinist by trade I made a nice jig to hold the front sight and the Saiga 12 gas block. It has 3 pins all in line with eachother. All pins are a slip fit, but a snug one. As I said, the pins are completely in line with eachother. I used my fixture to weld on the HK style sight and when it came off and was installed on the gun, the sight was canted off to the left probably about 5 degrees. What gives? Can anyone explain why this happened?
