  1. I know exactly how much I have spent on my saiga thus far and even though it's a lot I look at it as a long term investment. These guns will sky rocket in value if/when obama and liberals try to outlaw them. My gun started as a Vodka Special, I rolled the dice and converted it even when she wasn't running 100% Lots of FTE even with Federal. I decided to do all the mods my self rather send her off to some gunsmith who doesn't love her like I do lol. For me when ever I fix something my self it feels way more rewarding. What's sad now is it's been raining nonstop for 3 days and
  2. yay congrats. Now the next step is getting her to fire federal birdshot value packs reliably This forum is the best resource, and you will get way more answers here than any "AK range master" lol. In fact you are probably more knowledgeable now than most saiga 12 owners that go to your range. Keep reading brotha!
  3. I think most people who are saying wasr 10/63 are cheap, not as reliable as saiga, not as accurate, ect have never owned one or never shot one. A gun is only as good as how well it shoots, and how long it will last reliably. My WASR shoots just as good as my buddies AR15 16" with irons out around 200 yards. My WASR has never jammed, and I think I have cleaned it once or twice. My sights are not canted as far as I can tell, but I have seen some older wasr non 10/63 with sight cant... So let's see, for $300 I have a accurate reliable AK that I would trust to go bang at anytime to s
  4. I think that's your problem right there. These guns don't run better dry, especially if the rails, bolt, bolt carrier, and hammer haven't been polished. This is a AK OIL the shit out of her, just keep the Oil out of the gas tube/block. I agree some tight tolerance guns like ruger LCP ect need less OIL, but not the mighty Saiga 12. I bet if you greased the hell out of the rails, and sprayed some Rem oil or CLP on hammer, and where bolt carrier makes contact with hammer, and where bolt makes contact with hammer, you would reduce a hell of a lot of friction which is obviously causing your
  5. Merry Christmas to all! Tromix FCG, Tromix DIY TG Tapco Folder and grip SAIGA 12 SGM TRI-RAIL: Caa short stub VERTICAL GRIP SUREFIRE 12 round MAG MD arms 20 round drum: Factory russian 5 round mag MD Arms Gas V plug: IJK Optics rail Mount: Detachable with quick detach lever Walmart Tasco Red Dott: $30 Cheap Laser $16 I got it zeroed and it looks like it will work well Cheap flash light didn't work, so I mounted a Mag light using the mounts. Im a little nervous about Laser, flash light and red dot and how they will deal with recoil, but if they break oh well they were
  6. even though its not an ideal way to shoot you must think of every scenario. What if you are engaged in a fire fight with your saiga 12 and one arm was wounded? Or perhaps the angle of attack "your on the ground" forces you to shoot from the hip. In a gun fight you wont have time to get into your perfect range master stance. You can train for this yes but if you are surprised you will probably just react and the last thing you want to have happen is your gun fail to cycle. This is why you should do everything you can to get your gun to cycle reliably from the hip/one handed, even though
  7. My Romanian Wasr 10/63 G x39 will bump fire very easily from the hip. I can get 2-3 round burst every time with occasional 10 round burst. Problem is that sometime it fails to load the next round for what ever reason forcing me to recock the gun. IMO its fun to do every now and then to impress your friends but in no way is it practical. Even a full AUTO AK seems impractical even in close quarter combat as it would be to inaccurate and waste to much ammo. Which is why I got a Saiga 12 which spits out anywhere from 3-15 pellets of 00 buck every press of the trigger. That IMO is >
  8. I have a 3 port Vodka Special that I am in the process of tuning into smooth as butter machine and I know what your saying. With the original mag and gun braced against the shoulder I usually can fire off 5 rounds of low brass Federal even on gas setting 1. However if I try to fire from the hip on gas setting 2 my gun wont even cycle fully and the round stays in the chamber which leads me to believe it was severely under gassed. It would also have problems firing from hip with high brass rounds, leading me to believe very little gas is being used, and there is to much friction between
  9. check to see if the trigger spring on the right side slipped off. It happened to me and I have to manually reset the trigger until I put spring back in place and bent it so hopefully it wont happen again. Its on the side the BHO is on.
  10. couldnt pass this up so placed order for my first drum. I'll wait now till double stacks are ready and pick one of them up. I figure a 20 round drum, 12 round surefire, a double stack, and 5 round mag will be all I need for a zombie invasion for now. At least until i can get some more money =p
