  1. I've read a few posts in this line up of subject material - I reside in Florida also, and as long as I've been buying AK's here I've seen threaded barrels on AK's and a few other rifles, and in fact own several. I saw one post from 2009 that mentioned the rifle would become an assault rifle with a threaded barrel. Have never heard of that one from any one, and I am around a lot of AK buyers and builders, a fair amount, and have been for well over a decade. When I am able to, I will be threading my own if I take a notion to. Interesting subject however - that is the SGM brake and fitment.
  2. Thanks Captain Hero - I do have a Romaniant Cugir built '74 and a couple of Bulgarian builds off of kits, one of those is an underfolder - and I do indeed like the 5.45X39 round. I also have a "few" of the Bulgarian Polymer Mags and a handfull of metal Tantal mags, and a few Bakelites. I like to at least purchase some of the American made mags and test them for fit - for instance, the Promag 5.45X39 also fits and functions well in my Romanian and Bulgarian 74's. I also fully understand that these mags are not even among the medium American polymer mags in quality - so I look for ways to
  3. I haven't yet purchased a 5.45X39 Russian Siaga rifle, but have been considering one. I own several Siaga rifles in .223, .308, and 7.62X39. Have however purchased some Pro Mags in 5.45X39, as I do have other AK's in that caliber (Bulgarian) and have polymer mags from Bulgaria and metal ones from Poland for the 5.45X39. Am very conscious of mag quality and fit and function with specific rifles - and although the current crop of US mags (with exceptions, like US Palm) is not to the military standards of the Eastern Euro factories, I do think that at least the mag bodies of the US polyme
  4. Thanks for posting on this subject. I own several Siaga rifles, including one that was professionally converted from 7.62X39 to .223/5/56X45. Am interested in the longer barreled 5.45X39 or even a long barreled 7.62X39 as I have several .223 Siaga allready, as well as a Yugo in .223. Thanks for the Heads Up! I would convert it of course to my own likeing, and have some ideas allready. YodaMaadi - your photo's of what you have done with your rifle is great. Thanks. In Freedom - From Central Florida ...
  5. Visit the Orlando Fairgrounds show and look for Spikes Tactical - near Spikes Tactical (and you can also ask the guys at Spikes to point him out) will be JDTactical - he reworks and converts Siaga-12 shotguns and sells them. He will also likely convert your Siaga rifle, Siaga Shotgun, or AK that needs conversion parts to be legal under 922r if converted. James is extremely capeable and knowledgeable. I live in Lakeland, Zip 33813.
  6. Lakeland FL here. 33813 zip code. Own a number of Siaga, and AK's and Siaga are my primary firearm interests. Don't do a lot of range fire, but under the right circumstances and location would enjoy meeting some of you guys or gals and getting some target fire in.
  7. I am in Lakeland FL. Rarely get to range fire, but own a number of Siaga rifles, and have a great interest in them, and other AK variants. We have a regular range here called the Teneroc Range, and there are other outdoor ranges. Locally a shop has some acreage set aside to do un-regulated target fireing. I don't particularly care for range commissars in general, although the rifle ranges and bench set ups are convenient.
  8. JDTactical out of the Orlando area does conversions and would probably work on your guns. He can be found at most of the Orland Fairgrounds shows, and is affilaited with Spikes Tactical, so near to where you find Spikes at the Orlando Show, you will also find JDTactical setup. He mainly works on converting and selling converted Siaga-12 thjese days. Would think that he would also be able to convert a .223 Siaga also. I am in Lakeland, and know at least one local fellow who does a good job with conversions. - had a 7.62X39 Siaga converted and put a Tapco Galil front stock on it and a
  9. On the PAP the dust cover sight will probably be much more stable than a typical AK variant, because of the manner in which the dust cover is held in place by a mechanism in the rear trunion that locks down the rear of the dust cover and which has to be engaged to enable the dust cover to be removed. I don't own a PAP, however I consider it a very quality built AK variant. On the market these days, the VEPR would be the next standard AK variant that would be as robust, as the builds are similar - the VEPR receiver is is an RPK type receiver and the VEPR barrels are chrome lined and of varyin
  10. Cappy & Sunset - To utilize the Bulgarian mags, it will probably be necessary to carefully dremel the metal where the mag catch/selector stop impedes the mag from fully seating. On some other sites others have addresses this very question. I am not talking about the Mag catch (although that will also need to be very carefully filled down also to allow the mag catch to hold the mag snuggly), but the metal at the back of the mag well, just in front of the trigger guard. This will allow the Bulgarian mags to seat and function as designed. I have several Siaga .223 rifles and one that ut
  11. L4yErCake - I also reside in Central FL - in Lakeland. The big Lakeland Gun show is on at the Civic Center this weekend - they close about 4 PM on Sundays.
  12. L4yErCaKe - The photo in your post at #6 looks to be a good deal all things considered. I have an AMD 63 and a 65 however both are built with full rear stocks - one a K-Var Black rear stock set, and the other in Hungarian Blond Wood. The AMD's are a great buy, especially the one's made in Hungary on the FEG receiver. Mine are built on 1) 65 on a Ohio Ordnance receiver and 2) the 63 on a Global Trades AUSA Bulgarian designed receiver. I think the AMD pictured, especuially in Ceracoat and coloration, is a good and fair price.
  13. bloodshot - Thanks for the reply. I also enjoyed viewing what you did with your SLR 95. Regarding the "warn status" - I actually typed in my comments on that matter in a "new post" and submitted it and it suddenly appeared with my post in # 15, when I clicked the post option. I was addressing the viewers and moderators at the time. Was just courious, as that has appeared several times in the past when I posted, even though my comments on this particular forum are entirely benign and only orientated toward AK related matters, unless the subject itself is not AK's. The "warn status" by
  14. deadeye - That rear stock you have pictuted in post # 14 on the .308 Siaga is definately a Classic One Of - and I really like it. I am inspired to try something similar. I see a sign in the box below my picture outline that says "warn status" - and I am courious as to what that means as I didn't choose it as an Avatar, and I haven't the vagest idea what this means. However,if it is a Badge of Honor I'll take it.
  15. i have a number of Siaga rifles; a handfull in both 7.62X39 and .223., as well as a couple of .308, but have not yet purchased the Siaga in 5.45X39. Have only had one of my 7.62X39 rifles converted to pistol grip configuration. That rifle does not have a bullet guide. I do however have two Hungarian SA-85 parts kits, that have the chamber ends of the barrels with factory cut outs for the bullet to avoid hitting the chamber end of the barrel while chambering the round and allow the bullet to enter the chamber more easily. The cut outs resemble what one would encounter if one took a very
