  1. Mine were a little tight in the same place but I just kinda wiggled them in and then inserted them several more times. Now it just locks into place nice and tightly!
  2. You may also want to check out the new railed hand guards from forum sponsor Chaos. http://www.chaosus.com/cgi/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=SAIGA_762_QUAD_RAIL
  3. I certainly agree with your sentiments. Whenever I am discussing firearm ownership or gun control with someone I tend to finish with, "Just try and remember the 80,000,000+ firearm owners who didn't commit a crime today." A lot of people get lost in the numbers and forget the millions of people who own guns and don't commit crime. And they own all sorts of guns, not just bolt action hunting rifles.
  4. I'm curious too. Thinking about this the other day and I was hoping Mike is OK and just busy. I don't recall seeing him post anything in the last 6 months. Perhaps the move into the bigger shop space has taken longer than expected.
  5. I know, I am so excited about this. It is one of two guns I would just buy and beg forgiveness for. (The other is the Beretta ARX 160).
  6. Thanks for the help Pauly! I will have to try that the next time I have access to a vise. Any tips on the mag catch pin? That one needs more TLC on shorter timescales!
  7. Already covered in the S12 section. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/71971-vepr-12-coming-to-the-usa/ But General is nice as well!
  8. Yesterday I was at the range with a friend and two of his friends. My friend had been talking up my S12 to his friends and telling them what an awesome gun the S12 is. Well, I get the gas setting correct for the slugs we were shooting and then hand it to my friend so he could load up my MD20 and have at it. A few shots in the shots stopped as there was a round pushed into the chamber (by inertia) but the bolt was still back a little. I thought that maybe there was a gas issue with the drums (instead of the factory 5) so I opened up the gas but it happened again. When I field strippe
  9. AAAARG! 20 minutes too late for the Circle 10s!!! Someday I'll hit the timing.
  10. Nice writeup. It will also be easier to lean in once it is converted as the gun balances a lot better.
  11. Why don't you try shooting it with a new puck before doing anything to the BCG? I would not be surprised at all if it suddenly runs 100% or pretty close to it. That would be cheaper and give you more information faster.
  12. After looking into other sources, I'm going to drop the price on these. Let's try $70 shipped for all 3 or trade for the same in 7.62x39. Or shoot me an offer. The worst that can happen is I'll decline.
  13. I have 3 Bulgarian Circle 10s in 5.56x45. I'd sell them outright for $80 shipped. OR I would trade for an equal number of Bulgarian Circle 10s in 7.62x39. Pictures:
  14. Centerfire Systems sells them the last time I checked. They had 19", 22" and 24" in stock. No one regularly sells S12 barrels. The guns come in complete so finding spares is tricky. Currently there is no regular manufacturer of S12 barrels. You might get one custom made but it will be really expensive and not quick change (like an 870).
  15. One thing to remember regarding 3" shells is the following. You can buy an AutoPlug and tune it for your gun. When you want to shoot 3" shells, unscrew it from the gas block and put in a Gunfixr or V-Plug and stop it way down to reduce the gas to the system. Then when you want to go back to the AutoPlug just screw it back in. Since you haven't touched the spring tension adjustment screw it will be good to go! Oh, and using the AutoPlug (AP) is not a good idea with 3" shells. I was at the range back in late August and the guys next to me on the firing line had S12s that they had recent
  16. Sort of. Mechanically you can but if you add a bullet guide you need to be 922r compliant. However, that may be tricky if you don't plan on converting as you'll need 4+ parts (check out the 922r stickies in this section) that are US made to comply with 922r.
  17. i don't have a gun fixer plug, so to clarify? does this mean it takes more gas than factory setting 2, or less? I had a case of B&P slugs which were really nice shooting, but would only cycle about half the time on setting 2 of the factory plug, and I can run Walmart Winchester just fine. That sounds like a great price to me, but not if I can't get them to work in my gun. Gunfixr 3 and Factory 2 are essentially the same so if you want to try them out you should!
  18. Have you checked the number of gas ports by removing the adjuster knob and looking in there? Before you buy low brass reliability kits it might be good to make sure you really are getting enough gas. With proper porting you should be able to run most ammo without moving to weaker springs, etc. If you get a FTE with slugs (which brand were they BTW?) on setting 2 it might mean that you have marginal gas.
  19. sunnybean, check out this thread as there is a little more information stateside to go along with what we're getting from the Russians. http://forum.saiga-1...t-announcement/ Why not enjoy a corner? Aesthetically? Or are there technical problems? I don't think it is a technical issue but my sense is that most American shooters like the square cut receiver because it is easier to make them 922r compliant in order to use magazines with greater than 5 capacity, pistol grips, etc. Instead of separate pistol grips and buttstocks, US made furniture for this would look
