  1. yes, please post pics when you get time. thanks jaymce.
  2. OOPS!! I had better shut up before I get bagged, tagged and wake up in Guantanimio
  3. what material did you use to insulate the hand guard? you said insulated aluminum foil. Where can I get some and how did you do it?
  4. I say get a good quality mount, a laser bore sight and go at it. Get your proper meters, yards or feet, match the red dot to the lazer bore sight and you are GTG
  5. so the whole thing is still only held on the rifle by the one screw? I assume it still feels solid? I want to do this mod but am concerned about a loose fitting guard.
  6. I am thinking of putting the dang mag lock on there as well(unless I am ok putting some type of paddle on the dragunov stock) will these work with the mag lock? thanks for the offer but I will take your word sir.
  7. Help me get a job elsewhere and I would get out asap. I work HVAC and the wife teaches 5th grade. Where the heck can we move to and still live above poverty level?
  8. Carolina shootersupply has some
  9. paralaxtactical or carolina shooter supply
  10. I do not love the factory mag release on my saiga. tried to search the topic with no luck. does anybody have any ideas? The factory one is not very ergo and I just want to tweek on my gun, so this is #1 on my list. I want to modify it in lew of ordering another new part. money is scarce these days
  11. Hit up your local gun show when it comes around. They have some cool AK/Saiga stuff at most of them. check carolinashootersupply too.
  12. I don't think the ATF is in a position to regulate anything anymore. After being caught smuggling guns to mexico, lying about it and using the scandal as an excuse to infringe on a natural right, I cannot recognize their authority.
  13. any difference in the bullet guide from carolina shooters and the one from dinzag?
  14. OK OK I'm sold on the BG instal. I was just scared to mess with the rifle but there are enough videos out there to guide me along. thanks guys, if i screw up my rifle i can blame all y'all hahaha.
  15. well fellas, i am thankful for all the info. I was pondering the bullet guide install instead of welding up the mags. It's just that I have more experience with welding and grinding stuff thru my work but am "scared" when it comes to gunsmithing. I know there are tons of videos on how to install the BG so it can't be too bad. I do alot of welding, cutting, fitting and grinding at work but on larger media, I am afraid of what my stupid hands may do to my rifle. Oh, hell just go for it right?
  16. all i have access to is a portable lincoln wire feed machine or an oxy/acet torch set. i am comfortable on both but which would be better in this case?
  17. ok i got the mag catch lugs filed down and they all run in and out of the magwell real smooth. now for the welding up of the "feed ramp" the small gap at the top edge of the front of the mag. I have access to wire feed welder and oxy/acet torch, which one would be better. One of the mags is alittle thrashed so it will be my practice run.
  18. so are you saying that i need to file away some of the top and/or bottom of the lug and not any off the tip?
  19. thanx csspecs. I will try that. I'm not to worried about the legal crap. I have a bunch of 10 round factory mags i use at the range. the 30 rounders will be stashed away with my survival gear.
  20. I searched all over the forum and can't find an answer.I know that when i first got on here i saw a thread where someone figured out a way to modify milsurp mags to work on the saiga without installing a BG. A little weld on the mag. I got a few chinese mags for free and want to try to mod them. can anyone point me in the right direction?
  21. thanks fellas, time to kill this thread though. I realize that nothing but real combat or live fire drills will prepare one for combat. And I do enjoy shooting at targets and doing drills at home, I am not obsessed with shtf scenarios but I do not want to be that sucker that is not prepared if it does happen. I was raised to always be prepared, always. Just looking for ways to upgrade my skills as much as possible for a civilian without spending a ton of money. I got a handle on it nowthanks for all the advice
  22. ArmsOfAmerica in stock last i saw. good people too
  23. As a mentioned earlier, I have enough marksmanship skills and weapons handling. Not that i ever stop practicing those. I do all the drill I can at home plus I get to the indoor range weekly and outdoor monthly. I have practiced threat awareness most of my life, have some martial arts training as well. I am in pretty good physical conditioning, I was just thinking paintball or airsoft might help keep me in that shoot, run, shoot from cover, run etc. conditioning. I mean, I could go run around at the park and stuff but what would you do if you saw a 200lb white guy with tattoos, shaved head, bea
  24. thanks guys. maybe I will try it out for shits n giggles. I'm not really looking to invest in a new hobby nor do I want to spend a bunch of cash on tactical training courses. Maybe paint ball is a better bet as I will know for sure when i get hit and all. I am mostly looking to to get some combat related physical/ mental conditioning. I shoot pretty good already and am in good shape but last time I did paintball I got my ass kicked pretty good. I was going against real paintball teams most of the day though. thanks for all the advice
