  1. I too live in CA. I hate the politics and quite a few of the people here but I live at the beach so.........it's hard to find a better place and possibly a new trade. The only other state I would go to would be Wyoming but the wife ain't havin' it.
  2. As much as a packed gun show should annoy me, it doesn't because seeing that many people stocking up on stuff and/or looking for a first gun or whatever, just gets me all warm and fuzzy.
  3. thanks, got plenty of mags already. I guess one could always use a few more. Is there a good spot for online ordering of saiga internal parts? I thought most ak/saiga stuff was interchangeable but I was wrong i guess.
  4. I have my saiga 7.62, 1 set of extra iron sights, 1 extra set of furniture. What else should I look for to stash away? What will/will not work on a factory saiga? Gas tubes, pistons, trigger groups, springs, etc? any reliable info is greatly appreciated.
  5. Does anybody have tech sights on their saiga? I put em' my ruger 22 and love em'. Put a cheap red dot on the saiga.....hate it!
  6. I don't know if you had any luck but if not just take your receiver to a local machine shop, they can usually fix that stuff for about $20 or a six pack after hours
  7. If one was content with his guns and well stocked on ammo, and wanted to put together a list of parts to stash away' just in case' what would he put on this list? specific to the saga 7.62 only.
  8. Dang man I thought I'd check out the forum while the wife watches her shows.....BUT YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME!!!!!! (me yelling at all y'all) har har har
  9. I'm in cali so no hi-cap 'machine gun clips' haha Mine is not the tapco stock. It's a dragunov type stock from carolina shooter supply. Trigger pull is fine, this stock was made for the unconverted rifle. The grip was a bit slick so I wrapped it with camo wrap.
  10. I was looking at the raddlok for my unconverted rifle too. There are a few different ones out there with good and bad reviews on all of em. I hate the factory stock and so put the dragunov style stock on it so now I need a magazine lock. I hate it in CA but things may change soon.
  11. I got one of these a while back and no longer see it in the shop catalogue. Can anyone tell me if it was a U.S. made part or Russian? for 922.
  12. I asked rangemaster the same question a couple months back. He said to use sheet aluminum, like you would use for heating ducts. They sell it at lowes or home depot. got 24"x24" in the garage to play with.
  13. imarangemaster, I am also a fan of the factory guard. I drilled mine exactly as you did and most people think it came like that. Where would one find an aluminum trough?
  14. does anyone know if the dragunov stock from carolina shooter or k-var is U.S. made? will it count against 922?
  15. Parts count. Yea, Im still one part off, so aside from my one tapco mag, I have US made followers in all my steel mags. How did you mount the forward grip? Did you bolt a rail on there?? Id like to do that so I can have one of those angled forward grips. yes, I got a rail kit from online and bolted it right to the handguard. Be sure you get a longer rail or know exactly where you want the thing before you drill. you can also line the inside of the hand guard with metal tape from a heating and cooling supply shop. this should help with hot barrels
  16. I hate the cheezy plastic/hollow feel of the factory stock, i do not wish to convert at this time and want to stay 922 compliant. Are there any good stocks out there without pistol grip/thumbhole? I currently have a dragunov type stock but i am pretty sure that puts me on the naughty list right? I am too lazy to search right now so if you are bored or just want to be helpful, thank you kindly
  17. I put the dragunov style stock from carolina shooter on mine and love it. this gun is a tool not a beautiful hunting rifle or precision tack driver. I prefer not to do the conversion....yet. But as soon as I get $$ and my balls grow a bit I will have at it.
  18. I vented my stock handguard with a dremel and added a magpul forward vert grip. love it!
  19. I meant to say buttstock so keep the funny business to a minimum, I know how you guys can get!!!!! I can't seem to find it on their website anymore, did they quit selling it? is it available elsewhere?
  20. thanks for the hospitality. Unfortunately my wife would never do texas. I have family in El Paso and Amarrillo and friends in east texas, but it's too dang hot. Good for the income, bad for the wife. I think I am stuck here. Thanks for the input but, once again, I cannot have a pistol grip in CA with a detachable magazine. I would need to install a fixed, top-loaded magazine or a magazine lock such as a bullet button. Also it would appear that you have a flash suppressor or muzzle brake installed. That is also considered an "evil feature". Sigh, am I speaking English? What is that padd
  21. I know, I know......but I needed to vent. wrong section for this argument anyway.
  22. GOT MY MIND ON MY FREEDOM AND MY FREEDOM ON MY MIND

  23. I finished painting my rifle in camo using local foliage as my pattern. Now I am stuck with a rifle that is invisible hidden in a bush except for a nice black scope. has anyone here painted their scope to match the rifle? spray paint or hand paint. It is not an expensive scope, less than $60 so........
  24. *Very* nice. I'm a big fan of the Dragunov stock on the Saiga. WHAT IS THE MATERIAL USED TO COVER THE BUTT STOCK? IS IT JUST ATHLETIC TAPE? SAME SET UP ON MINE, WORKS GREAT
