  1. As I understand it, a dollar is a unit of measurment, like a pound or an ounce. It issupposed to be a certain amount of weight in gold or silver coin. A quarter is supposed to be 1/4 of a dollers weight, a dime 1/10 of a dollers weight, a nickel was supposed to be made from a precious metal called nickel and a penny was supposed to be made out of a precious metal called copper. Prior to 1964, this country issued legitimate promisary notes which said:" payable to the bearer of this note, upon demand, the sum of..." and you could go to any federal reserve bank in the country and trade your d
  2. Personally, I would go for the one with the shorter barrel. I have a Saiga 12 with a 19 in barrel and was able to get 2 - 2 1/2 in groups with slugs at 100 yds. I was amazed at the accuracy for that distance. If you need to hit beyond 100 yds, you should be using a rifle under optimal conditions.
  3. I had that same isue at a gun class last year. My solution (because some of my 5 rd mags still won't insert on a closed bolt no matter how much force is used) was to: 1. Lock the bolt open. 2. insert the magazine. 3. stick your finger or thumb inside the open bolt and push down on the top round. 4. Slowly release the bolt so that it slides over the first rd in the mag until it closes. 5. Bump the back of the bolt to ensure that it is completely closed. The end result is a loaded mag in the gun with an empty chamber. I hope this helps.
  4. Tony...I have the standard AK sights on my S-12 as opposed to the rail sight that came with the gun. Would the use of this rail still allow me to use the AK sights? As much as I like the idea of the rail concept, I would not use any firearm that didn't have iron sights as murphy's law would suggest that electronic, holo, red dot sights would quit at the worst possible moment.
  5. I had my S-12 converted by Tromix more than a year ago. As others have said, it don't get better than Tromix. He does very high quality work, and being human and not god, will quickly fix anything that goes wrong. Very highly recommended!!!
  6. $52.00 for a 5 shot mag when the 10 rd mags are going for $55.00. Sombody must be smoking crack.
  7. Got my ten rd mags last Tuesday and took them to the range this past weekend. All functioned flawlessly. Thanks Kevin and AGP for putting out a good and much needed product. Also I used my S-12 in a class this weekend for a long gun to handgun transition drill. For several students, this was their first time firing a 12 guage. I got several compliments on how mild the recoil was for experienced shooters and that the "kick" wasn't as bad as they expected for the first time shooters.
  8. I got the set of sights that Russian American Armory sells and had Tony Rumore put them on for me. I had always heard that slugs could be shot at 75 and even 100 yds but had never tryed it for myself. I went to the range about 2 weeks ago to see what would happen. I was also curious as to what the drop would be like at those ranges. To my pleasent surprise thare was no drop at all! Even at 100 yds shooting from a bench with the S-12 laying on its carrying case I was able to hit dead on!!! I don't know if this is a testimony to The sights, the shotgun or Tony's work (probably all three) b
  9. I just called them (1:40 CDST) to see what the deal was. The person who answered the phone said "they were not quite ready yet", but should be in a couple of weeks (where have we heard that before). He said they will be polymer with metal inserts. As I have said before, whoever comes out with a functional 10 rd mag first will make a boatload of money. Let's all cross our fingers (and arms, eyes, legs and toes) and hope this happens sooner than later.
  10. Intergrated...my point is stolen property is stolen property. it doesn't matter how long one has posessed some stolen property, it, like your cam corder, would still be stolen. It doesn't matter that one has the military might to take something from someone else, it is still stolen. It doesn't matter how or why you rationalize stealing something from someone else, most thieves believe the person they steal from doesn't have a right to posess what the thief wants and has the power to take. Texas, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and California is stolen property. The fact that this country had t
  11. Intergrated...I have a curiosity question. If someone breaks into you home and steals you Cam Corder and DVD player, does it legally belong to them tomorrow, next week, next year?
  12. Tony...are these stocks any longer than the Ace stock? I find the Ace stock a little short for my comfort level and would seriously consider changing if these are any longer.
  13. While it works fine, I'd hate to have to swap mags. under stress Tetraptous...I would only use this technique in a non-threatening environment. In the middle of a firefight I would lock the bolt back, change mags, close the bolt and keep on shooting.
  14. GT Wannabe...my comments are based on what is legal. If you say " I tried to killl him because..." in court you have just sealed your fate. The law allows you to do whatever is necessary to STOP your assailent, if he dies in the process of you stoping him, so be it. If your stated goal is to kill, then the death was premeditated. It might seem like technical mumbo-jumbo to you, but 40 yrs with bubba the faggot in a 5X10 ft jail cell might make you wish you had used different vocabulary. In this country soldiers to my knowledge are the only ones who have a right to kill. Even law enforceme
  15. From time to time, on rare occasions, peoples brains will actually catch up with their bodies and do what makes sense instead of what is popular. The M-16 has always been a tempermental neat freak which only reliablly functions under "optimal conditions" unlike the type you find in war.
  16. People would do well to remember the difference between stopping power and killing power. The goal in any self defense situation should ALWAYS BE TO STOP your opponent. Death should be irrelevent. If I shoot a crackhead with birdshot and he dies tomorrow, but cuts my throat in the meantime I have actually defeated the purpose for shooting him in the first place. The issue is not whether I kill him, but whether I stop him before he hurts me or mine. Birdshot would have to suffice if its all I had but sanity dictates that I use the best tool for the job. Terminal balisticts is an imperfec
  17. I took Jonh Farnam's rifle and shotgun class a couple of weeks ago. His contention is that shotguns were originally designed for sporting purposes and therefore the safetys are unreliable. As a result he insisted that all shotguns be carried loaded but with the chamber empty Although he acknowledged that the S-12 is based on a military design, because he was not familure enough with the Saiga to know if it was drop safe he insisted that it be carried with a full mag but the chamber empty. When I informed him that I had no idea how to load a mag without chambering a round he suggested a very
  18. The only difference between a 10 rd drum magazing like the Knoxx and a 10 rd stick magazine is the configuration. A 10 rd capacity is a 10 rd capasity. The drum would probably make it easier to shoot from a prone position, the stick would have better balance because the drum is offset to the left. What would really make sense, at least to me is a double collum stick magazine which would taper at the top just like double collum pistol magazines. Just a little wider than the current 5 & 8 rd mags but not as long as the 10 rd prototypes, that way you could still shoot from the prone posit
  19. Will it be any longer than the Ace stock? I personally find the Ace stock a little too short for my comfort level. If so, could the Ace stock be removed and this one screwed on? Actually, the telecoping stock makes a little more sense to me because it can be adjusted to the individual comfort level of the individual shooter as opposed to "one size fits all".
  20. The cheaper the cost, the more you will sell, provided that they are high quality. I tend to take my life very seriously, and since I only have one, am not willing to gamble it on cheap, if-fey, magazines. If you could price them at $ 25 - 30 you will sell a boatload. If you price them at $40 - 50, you will sell a train load. If you price them at $60 + you will still make your money back plus a profit, but at this point the higher the price the lower the sales. Whoever does this first is going to make a ton of money because the will have an entire planet of Saiga 12 owners as their exclu
  21. Thanks for the info guys. I'm glad to know it is a simple problem instead of something I would need to send off for repairs.
  22. I'm taking John Farnam's Urban Rifle and Tactical shotgun course next week in Bloomington Illinois.
  23. I took my s-12 to the range yesterday and had a problem with the trigger sticking on the return reset after firing. Has anyone had the same problem? Any suggestions on what to do besides cleaning and oiling the piece? I am concerned because I am taking it to a rifle and shotgun class next week and was looking forward to making all of the Benelli boys who will be there look bad. Please help!
  24. Tony... I have a question. If it looks like that with a flash hider, what does it look like without one? Does your flash hider really help to hide the flash or is it just there for astetic purposes? My understanding is that the primary purpose of a flash hider is to protect the night vison of the shooter more-so than to hide the flash from your advarsary. I hope you can understand my line of questioning.
  25. I keep a 5 rd mag in the gun with S&B #00buck. I have a 5 rd mag with Quickshock slugs, a 5 rd mag with Remmington copper hollow points slugs and an 8 rd mag with Whinchster 00 buck. In regards to keeping a loaded gun ready but not accessable to unauthorized persons I use a device called "Lock aroud the clock" It is a gun safe which can hold 1 or more handguns (depending on size) but appears to be (acutally is) a functional clock radio. It can be bolted to a nightstand, table, headboard, etc. It can be opened in about 1-2 seconds with a combination keypad. There is a company cal
