Strikehard Gear for AK/Saiga
SgtRaven replied to SgtRaven's topic in Feedback - THE GOOD, BAD, & UGLY
Another gem: AK bayo MOLLE sheath from StrikeHard Gear. Rig contains (L-R: Kimber Compact Custom 1911, Saiga "shorty", Tapco AK/Galil .223, and Magpul PMAG 30-rounder. -
Work in progress. Magpul MOE on 6-way tube and ACE folder (to the left), Hogue PG, polished Tapco G2 with BHO, "superhacked" MSA adapter with windowed PMAG. "FuglyStick" handguard next (slash cut); debating on optics (Nikon M223 1-4x or PK-AS).

Thanks for the post! Can you post the link to the source or ordering information for adapter? I see your Saiga is "dimpled", like mine (and all newer shipments, unlike the ones used on YouTube and MSA site). I've got MSA adapter and hacked a heck out of it, and it still far from "drop in" installation. My bad: I paid too much attention to the sales info.

Saiga .223 AR15 Magwell Adapter Sale - Magnolia States Armory Sale
SgtRaven replied to MAAnew's topic in Other AK Rifles
I just got MSA for my .223 Saiga, and with "dimples" it requires heavy (very heavy!) modifications. All the videos and pictures of "drop-in" installations include older, "dimple-less" receivers. Check this thread for Renegade Buck's (Mike Thomas) adapter, suitable for "dimpled" Saiga-s: http://forum.saiga-1...106#entry700106 I've e-mailed him and immediately received comprehensive information and instruction. At $76 shipped, this is not a brainer: I'm placing the order right now (and swallowing the loss on MSA adapter). -
I just joined the Saiga club...round trunion, yay or nay?

Just got CSS' bullet guide for new project (.223 conversion), and it fits like a glove. New purchase, but rifle made in 2009; round trunion. -
+1 for CSS (Carolina Shooters Supply) and Krebs
SgtRaven replied to SgtRaven's topic in Feedback - THE GOOD, BAD, & UGLY
Here we go again: (another) +1 for CSS (Carolina Shooters' Supply). 2nd build (Saiga .223 conversion) and because of Greg Q., it's Carolina Shooters' Supply all over again. Superior, just superior! Thanks, Greg! -
Strikehard Gear for AK/Saiga

Sorry, I don't have any 20-rounders, so can't say for sure. But it appears that they'd sit just under the pocket's edge, and you might need to rich in to pull them out. Width and thickness-wise: definitely fit. Moreover, I'm getting MSA adapter for use with AR Magpul's PMAGs, and debating between 20- and 30-rounders. Like my friend said, if few 20-rounders are not enough, you're in the deep trouble. I'm not going downrange anymore, and don't mind to reach in to fish 'em out. Also, if you really want them to stick out, you can shove the spacers to the bottom of the pocket. I like m -

30-round P-Mags fits in. Moving to adding MSA adapter to .223 Saiga for dual-mag use (AK & AR). -

Works with 40-rounds mags; mag retainer stretches with no issues. -

Better picture is coming, but that's what I have for now. I'm adding AK bayo MOLLE adapter (from StrikeHard Gear) and 1911 holster to it. -

Sorry, can't speculate: site picture. Owner said it was taken by happy and grateful customer. It looks like Arsenal in smoke to me. -

I've got it for my Draco: great! I like it with slick metal OEM 30-rounder mags. Tapco and US Palm are little on a tight side. I prefer steels or bakelites: slides in/out well. Now I need to add molle holster for 1911 on a side. -

Another tactical 5.45 conversion (yes, anyone can do it!)

Updated. -
Good choice! Like above said, VG, NO & YES. Read through this forum. I'd strongly advise on adding following: - Pistol grip, stock and trigger control group; - Bullet guide; - AK-74 front side block and muzzle brake ("Compensator"). Have fun!

I've removed and rounded bullet guide to the bottom of the deepest gauge. Followed up with 2-step sanding. Put 85 rounds through with no other issues, than Tapco mag's last round getting stock in a mag. Took mags apart, cleaned and lubed though. One more try and that's it for Tapco. Guys are right: should go with good ol' proven original Comrade Kalashnikov's Bakelites...

I ended up dremmeling my Dinzag round BG (was too flat and being hit by bolt). That threat is here; hope your experience will be different: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=61343&pid=599545&st=0&&do=findComment&comment=599545 -
I agree on above about red dots. But if you ever decide for regular optics, standard 4x are reasonable, taking their robust design and build into consideration. Check Kalinka Optics: http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/

I was considering CAI, Arsenal, some others before conversion, but original Russian Izhevsk-made chromed barrel (of known "true" 5.45 cal) and receiver on Saiga, plus freedom of choice in accessories won hands down. I am so glad I went with Saiga conversion. It's also great learning experience, as you leave no stone unturned and doing it all hands-on. Since I built it, I have much better understanding of the rifle, than even after formal training and using it while in service.

Let me know if you have any issues. Installing BG was easy, as trunnion is not as hard a barrel (when drilling for FSB/MB notches). See Dinzag's installation manual and make sure you ceneterd it well (I recommend marking it with empty magazine in place, so you could make a reference/center it to mag's follower). http://www.dinzagarms.com/downloads/bg_install.pdf Have fun!

I recall trying pasting the numbers into different areas. Your Club Savings Certificate number goes into top window, Try to paste $10 off into remaining ones ('Gift Certivicate" or "Rewards"). Sorry, I don't recall exact details. In the worst case scenario, just call (1-800-458-3006 for Club Members) and ask them to match the AIM (or whoever's) deal, and then give them your certs numbers on a top. Hope that will help!
