Still waiting on the stock. Is it legal to shoot it without one? Guess I could put the factory one on while I'm waiting
-
Turns out it wasn't the screw hitting the bolt but the guide itself, guess I was off center as well. Couple minutes with the dremel and all is well!
-
And that's what happened! Gonna see if I can grind down the screw tonight unless you have another suggestion?
-
Cool, I'll give it a try.
-
Well I screwed it up, either the bit slipped or I did but the hole got drilled too close to the chamber. I can still see about half the hole thru the bullet guide, what should I do next?
-
What up fellas, been a while but I'm back for round 2! Ordered this last week and picked her up last night, titled it Project Sturgis cause the funding came from not going this year. I'll be using the KISS method on this conversion, heck I'm hoping the bit and tap for the bg is still on the bench!

Mom! People are arguing on the internet again! Can I use a swear word?
-
I remember the first time I got cranky on an internet forum
-
Hope you ain't using them in a factory Saiga!
-
Not sure about the mount, I could see five feet off at five hundred yards. I'll be giving it another shot before it goes back

If anyone is interested Sightmark was super cool about the warranty, emailed me back within a day, and a tech guy actually answered the phone and listened to everything. He even asked questions and told me he converted a 5.45

Yep, just walked the target back further. Glass is nothing spectacular, Sightmark CDX 3-9, but it was still $150. I have a Sightmark on my target 10/22 and love it. Unfortunately I didn't realize I only had 30 days to register the warranty
-
In that figuration it is heavy, but that's just sighting in the glass should I ever want to use it hunting. I usually have it stripped down and only use 20 rounders so it's actually pretty light most the time

Did a little shooting after work yesterday. Got sighted in at 20 yards and man was she shooting sweet, putting them thru the same hole without trying. Walked the target out to about 80 yards and the rounds were sailing at least five feet over it. Dialed my scope all the way down eventualy and don't think it made a difference. Had to aim way under to get an impact, so I took the scope off and the irons were hitting where they should at 100. Has to be bad glass right?

Save some $ and convert a Saiga. As I've said before, if the Arsenal is set up EXACTLY how you want it then go ahead. My opinion has always been that brakes and comps only make small caliber rifles annoyingly loud

I bought a Yugo SKS years back when they were cheap. Shot ok but wasn't my thing. I honestly would like to see them produced again, I'd definitely buy a new one if they had a solid mounting place for optics

Any good experiences with cheap ass scopes? >$60

I'm using two Sightmark 3-9's. One mil dot and one CDX reticle. Both reticles are outstanding, but they run around $150. I have one UTG 4x CQB and that's pretty good but it's collecting dust now -
Help with Saiga 7.62x39 stock and trigger conversion
JBubbs replied to mslick1's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
Thanks AZG, in fact I think one of my first posts here before I started converting was that I was going to "Tapco the hell out of it". I'm also a fan of symmetry and matching furniture which is why I didn't go with the Magpul stock body. As for a muzzle device, I really like the YHM Phantom or the Tapco RAZR as a distant second. Not a fan of brakes as the report tends to rattle me way more than x39 recoil, but I'm not sure I want to attempt threading the barrel. Anywho, sorry OP if this was a hijack, just hope the info helps -
Help with Saiga 7.62x39 stock and trigger conversion
JBubbs replied to mslick1's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
My Tapco stock on a CAA poly tube, cost a little extra but I like it a lot -
It was probably the part that made me the most nervous, but the actual hardest part was removing the factory trigger plate

7.62 X 39 Tapco Intrafuse Stock and Handgaurd
JBubbs replied to TheGinJew's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
I have mostly Tapco and wouldn't change it. Wasn't a fan of the angled tube for the Tapco stock so I went with the CAA poly tube -
