  1. Thanks for the comments, much appreciated, I updated my post after I installed the bullet guide this afternoon.
  2. Been reading on here for about 6 months, watched all the videos many times and finally worked up the courage to do the thing. Here are all the tools I used: No electricity was used at all, except for whatever the computer was using as I would consult it occasionally. Drilled rivets out from the inside of the receiver with hand drill, used good 3/16 bit, which was smaller than rivets, so used cold chisel to knock off the remaining, then used 1/8 punch at the trigger guard plate came right off. This is what the inside of receiver looked like when I was done: I ord
  3. Classic arms has 91/30's with "surface rust" for $65.00. from the site: ..."Now and again we will open up a crate of M91/30 rifles and find a few with some surface rust. It happens, even though they are wrapped in rust wrap inside the crates sometimes a little moisture or salty sea air will settle inside the crate somewhere along the voyage from Russia to here, and rust will form inside the crate. Well, we opened a crate of round receiver rifles this morning and almost the entire top row showed some signs of rust. Now I know from experience that most distributers will either brush or pol
  4. I see, fee lip, not follower. Not sure what I was thinking. The saiga mags have a higher feed lip to avoid a bullet guide. The follower is at the bottom of the ammo stack. Many do not want a plastic AK mag that is not steel lined like the bulgarian circle tens. No other mags are. If the place that manufactures the circle ten magazines began making some special edition ones with a feed lip about 3 mm higher, you would have a high quality mag that could feed perfect without a bullet guide.
  5. Is there no US company that makes mag followers with the bump like on the saiga mags? Seems like it would help w/ 922r and make feeding issues almost non existent.
  6. Some things here: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/17350-opinion-on-stock-handguard/
  7. Anybody heard of using Marvel Mystery Oil as a tapping fluid? Fellow down at the auto store said it would work great for that, not sure if he was correct, but I bought some anyway because it seemed like a good product for a myriad of other applications.
  8. Anybody have any experience with this weapon?
  9. Anybody tried DoubleTap 150gr JSP? Pricey, around .80 per round. Is something like this worth it for deer hunting? Or will my Brown Bear 123 gr HP do OK?
  10. I purchased the G2 trigger from CSS, which I believe has been ground (they say modified, so that is what I assume). I haven't done my conversion yet, but I have decided that I don't want to install my BHO anymore, do I need a spacer/washer to make up for leaving the BHO out?
  11. What are the general thoughts on making POA to be on the top of the sight post? What are the downsides? For longer distances wouldn't this be better because you are not covering your target with the front sight post?

Is it ok to squirt some CLP on all of the FCG?
  13. Thanks for the information. Maybe I should just ditch the BHO? In your picture...: Did you rivet that piece onto your safety lever? If so how did you do it and does it work well?
  14. Hello, 1) For those that put the BHO back in after conversion, does the button get in the way of the trigger? Is any filing done? 2) After filing my mag catch can I just degrease and spray w/ paint of choice? Or is this not necessary if a light coat of gun oil is present? Thanks. I'm really digging the information on this site.
  15. What did you use to polish the bolt carrier, rails and hammer with??
  16. Hi, Just double checking that the following: http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-715/Saiga-Conversion-Trigger-Kit/Detail has everything I need to move the trigger group forward? Do I need a longer bolt to attach the pistol grip to the trigger gaurd? I was planning on reusing the TAPCO PG that is currently screwed to the T6 stock. Thanks.

Just purchased a saiga in 7.62, just curious if there was anyone else around.
  19. Hi, Just purchased a lightly used '09 saiga. It didn't come with the factory mags, just 3, 30 round ProMags, which seem a little crappy to me, anyways.... The gun does not have the bullet guide modification. The guy before me only put 200 rounds through it and everything was fine. I just put 30 rounds through it myself. My question is from all of my reading, I thought that the bullet guide must be installed for the ProMags to work properly. I guess I'm open to installing the BG, but what I'm wondering is how often do expensive metal mags have to be modified in order to seat pr
