At the gun store yesterday and they had what I thought was a converted saiga 7.62 with the barrell shroud (no muzzle break) on it. I called it a Saiga, the guy behind the counter "corrected" me in a nice and not douchey way and called it an AK. He was busy, as all gun stores are now and I just wanted a price, $1300, so I didn't argue. But can you tell the difference between a saiga and another AK variant without actually holding it and looking at markings?

1950s Russian SKS, supposedly matching #s, battered wood and pretty decent bore... Guy wants $550. I'm tempted, but it seems a little pricey? Input?
