  1. Has anyone replaced those stupid loud muzzle brakes with something more useful, like a long flash suppressor? God forbid you ever have to fire one of those things without hearing protection.
  2. They are necessary if you have a POS out-of-spec AK like mine, where the bolt carrier often "jumps" out of the receiver rails. Otherwise, don't bother.
  3. How much length are you guys having to remove from the tail? I just got my puck yesterday and had to remove so much material, the CSS puck ended up just a c-hair longer than the stock puck. I'm using an MD Arms gas plug, is this really supposed to be normal?
  4. If the wobble is mainly just vertical, place a shim inside the receiver where lower part of the stock fits in. A fender washer worked well for me.
  5. FFS, when will this dead horse be allowed to rest?
  6. Worth noting that with US-made magazines, you are only one part away from compliance anyways. Gas puck or muzzle device for instance...
  7. Blue light scatters far more readily than red and green, makes a shitty color for a dot sight if you ask me.
  8. I had a Leapers RDS some time ago, looked very similar to the Tasco RDS, probably sourced from the same Chinese company. Lasted no more than 500 rounds before the reticule would only work on one setting. Spend a little more for the Primary Arms Micro Dot or Bushnell TRS-25
  9. http://forum.saiga-1...ger-guard-kits/ Same thing as the AK-Builder guard, except from a supporting vendor.
  10. That's what happens when the rifles sit on the shelves for a long time and the store doesn't maintain them. I've seen that happen on all kinds of AK variants, not just IO rifles.
  11. Try the original springs every 100 rounds or so... At first my S12 would only run Winchester and Federal low-brass with the CSS spring. After about >300 rounds, it now runs both flawlessly with the original spring. I don't want to piss on your parade, but I wouldn't consider it fixed if you have to change the springs if you want to run high-brass or magnums.
  12. That's what I was afraid of. Most of the pics I found made it look very light/yellow, I was hoping that it was just the lighting or camera. Oh well, I guess if I wanted to be brave I could shoot some paint to it.
  13. Does anyone have this furniture on their Saiga, or even seen it on a rifle? I've been thinking about replacing the clubfoot stock on my IO rifle with this K-Var stock. I'm trying to find out how well it matches with a Hogue desert tan grip, but apparently this furniture isn't too popular because I can't find many pictures of it on a rifle at all. I have thought about the Tapco FDE stock which matches "barely close enough" for me, but I'm not convinced that it is any sturdier than my IO stock.
  14. From what I can find on the net, they've always seemed to be hit-or-miss. I managed to get a hands-on look at a few more IO rifles about nine months after I bought mine in May '11. Didn't really get to go over them with a magnifying glass, but two looked like they were decent builds. One was completely fucked up, worse than mine. Canted gas block, rust, poor riveting, etc. I get the feeling that some of IO's employees are only there to punch a timeclock. Glad you got a good one.
