  1. Rest In Peace Frank, it would have been a privilege to know you.
  2. At the dentist yesterday...asked what they do with the lead from X-Rays..."throw them away"..."Oh really? I happen to have a coffee can in my trunk....

  3. Two very good suggestions. I researched them both and either would be a good choice. Narrowing it down at least. Thanks!
  4. I have various pouches, duffel bags, "Flight Bag" etc but I want to get a good bag to keep loaded with essentials with room for a pistola or two. Not something big enough for a week's worth of clothes and bedding etc. I have a long "load out" bag for that stuff. This would be for knives, flashlights, batteries etc. I guess what I'm talking about is a Bug Out Bag but when I think of this I see something on the small side. I have in mind something bigger but not a full blown back pack. Of course there are 10,000 choices. What do you recommend?

I'll have it check it out.

  6. Thanks for asking and, the input. When I arrived home from work at around 5:30 I threw the main and so far everything is running normally. I'm off Saturday so I'm going to go get some new receptacles and do some replacing. Til then I'll do what I did today, throw the main on the way out the door to work and turn everything on when I get back. If I see what happened last night again between now and then I'll get someone to come and check all the breakers and the main. I could probably figure out how to do it myself but this is too important and I don't need to be frying my old ass messing
  7. This was exactly what I thought at first. I'm going to throw the main before I go to work and then turn it back on when I get home. Not much in the reefer and it should hold some cold. Going to keep an eye on it but I'd feel better knowing nothing is hot while I'm gone. If it happens again while I'm here I'll move forward with a diagnostic.
  8. Got up this AM, everything is working again. Power company called, they checked everything out outside the house and it was all good, everything normal. So it must be something inside, most likely a breaker or breakers. I'm not going to mess with it, going to call an electrician. I'll advise how it turns out. Oh, and no smart meter to my knowledge.
  9. Btw, I don't think there is a single ground fault outlet in this house, that was one thing that came up in the research. I'd want to get up to speed with testing breakers and such, saw instances where people started replacing breakers and it didn't solve the problem. FWIW I did throw the main, left if off a while and threw it back, no change. Called the PoCo, they're going to come out and take a look.
  10. Out of the blue late today I loose power to different parts of my house. Master bedroom, a bath, foyer, part of the kitchen, washer & dryer. It does appear that each of these have their own breakers so I checked, none tripped. Reset them all anyway....no joy. I do have a couple of wall outlets where one works, the other doesn't, been like this for a while. I just thought the outlets needed to be replaced. I won't be off again til Saturday so even if I did call an electrician it would have to be a week from now. And I'm not real keen on spending that money if I don't have to.
  11. Thing is, he seems to be having so much damn FUN. There's nothing in my life I get that excited about I'm somewhat sad to say.
  12. This is a good synopsis of Oregon's laws IMO; http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/oregon.pdf
  13. +1 My advice is to buy a safe you can grow into. IMO it would be a drag to have a safe chocked full of valuables and then still have other things you want to lock up and can't. I financed mine and I needed another payment like I need another hole in the head but I don't regret it.
  14. Many happy returns of the day...may your half-life be long.
  15. If I lived in a more remote location where thieves could spend a considerable amount of time working on the safe without detection I'd probably do a few things differently. Where I am now, good neighborhood, good neighbors and it's located in front of the house closest to the street, I can't imagine thieves taking that much time but I guess anything is possible. I have it in a corner and once bolted down I think it would take quite a bit to get it loose and on it's back. As for the 100lb. plate, it happened to be handy, it doesn't take that much to hold the door open and when I'm between
  16. I'm curious about what you are wary of, their "politics", quality of their training, etc.? I have 3 NRA instructor certifications and Range Safety Officer and 1 state instructor cert (CWP) but I'm open minded. The NRA has it's faults but I have no doubt that on balance we're all better off as gun owners and gun rights supporters because of the NRA. Not looking to start a pissing contest, I'm genuinely curious.
  17. In my safe's location there is some light but not a lot. Seeing the numbers and marks in between numbers is not so easy. So I think I need a light over the dial. Liberty sells one but with only a single LED they sell for $19.99 from Liberty and as much as $39.99 on eBay (yeah, right). There must be something better and cheaper so I look on eBay and find this; It has 27 LEDs on the front and 3 on the bottom. There is a magnet on the back that allows it to stick to the safe door. It's not that strong but it works. If there's a problem with this another, stronger magn
