  1. Weren't the helical magazines known for their lack of reliability?? Yes. I've been told by two of my elders to never buy a Calico because of the magazines. I have the M-100 with the thumbhole wooden stock. I bought it from a lying scumbag POS from the internet. The pics in his add were from when the rifle was new....I have no idea how many rounds actually went through it. The magazine he sent had some issues which seemed to be wear issues. I ordered a new one and it wasn't all that hot out of the box. A light sanding and polish on the mag feed lips took care of all issues.
  2. Don't forget Calico is back. I like mine pretty good...lots of fun loaded up with some Stingers. http://calicolightweaponsystems.com/home/i...php?page=models
  3. I bought an M44 a couple of years ago that was most likely rearsenalized the best I can tell. Was very very happy about the $80 I spent. The Mosin board is an absolute riot....there are people that get all pissed and bent over there when you talk about modifying them. Anyway here is my favorite links: http://www.surplusrifle.com/mosincarbine/index.asp I put a NC star extended eye relief scope on my...about $35 with the mount.....and have an absolute blast with the rifle. I've put about 1,000 rounds through it from Hungarian silver tip to some decent brass non-corrosive stuff made for
  4. I have an M44 and never had any issue with it. My nephew fights with his but I think it is because he doesn't slap a Mosin like you need too. I slap up and then slap back...I think some try pulling as they open the bolt.
  5. Yes it does say Igman on the can which I assume is not a US company. I stand corrected. Good stuff just the same.
  6. I have a few types .....I have the stuff Shanan has...good stuff. Nice because it's non-corrosive but costs quite a bit more I believe from Winchester and reloadable. Recently I purchased some copper coated steel spitzer point Russian from 1985. The place I got it is out of it. Shoots as good as the Winchester and was a lot cheaper. The only Hungarian I've shot is the silver tip stuff. Not bad but sometimes you can hear the powder difference and you'll get a shot 6 to 8" out. For 10Cents a round though, it's hard to pass up.
  7. I never used their 223 but I just got a ton of 308 and it shoots pretty good. I would say it is atleast as good as the others mentioned.
  8. I purchased my 4X24 from Kalinkaoptics and really like it. It goes on and off the mount and does not lose zero. Price was good too.
  9. You have to put yourself in the liberal mindset to understand their thinking sometimes. Remember they choose their ideals based on their experience. I think making the case that "temper tantrum prone" individuals who on top of that are complete woosies, maybe should not carry pistols. Do the assignment...maybe even go so far as telling him you see another point of view. Get your grade and get out. You aren't changing a professor...they won't see it your way. Basically don't beat your head against a brick wall.
  10. Combat Medic thanks for your service...you guys absolutely rock. History will rename the greatest generation because the current mission is more difficult than any that came before. GunnyR your reference to General Shinseki pegs you as an absolute fool. The people that bring him up as the end all and be all of what should have been lead me to believe you are something other than what you claim. Shinseki said a lot of things....elimination of armored forces being one of his major pushes. Where would that leave us? So you have Shinseki....who else?
  11. Started to clean to bring to the gunsmith and I saw little brass just above the pistol grip screw. Had to flick it out with a pick...it was a primer. Good to go now.
  12. Yes I got the entire package from e-bay for around $50. The scope is an Nc Star 2.5 x 30...have to stay cheap...can't exceed the cost of the rifle. It's not bad though. Eye relief is pretty broad and easy to sight. You just drive out the pin and slide the leaf out...set the mount in with a screw...three set screws press against the barrel to secure the mount. I roughed it in and then disassembled and put red loc tite on everything. We'll see how it stay the next time out.
  13. Pics finally...sorry they are parts and not the whole...but I want you to be able to see the goods.
  14. I have a Saiga 223 with a side mount. I purchase the 4 X 24 POSP scope with an illumintaed reticle for just over $100. To say the least I am very impressed and pleased with the package. The scope can be removed from the rifle and is spot on when slid back on. The 6X might be a better choice for the 308.
