  1. Some Arsenal shotguns have Arsenal US made trigger groups. So that's 3 toward compliance. A $10 puck would do the rest. K-Var /Arsenal/ FIME has always been very cagey about answering direct questions re which of their parts are imported. I think this is because they mix and match so a certain model number might have one of the US made Kvar stocks, or it might have a bulgarian stock, and so on. They look the same and are both well made, but one might be 922r compliant and another not. Kvar doesn't want to be held to your misunderstanding, or future changes in their mix. I'd look at the trigger
  2. For future reference..there is a little notch on the cleaning kit that fits the lever perfectly and allows you to rotate it. Alternatively, some people use the grooves in the side of the bolt carrier. If you don't have a cleaning kit or don't want to use your bolt carrier, cut a little piece of dowel to use as a punch to give yourself something to tap with the hammer. 3. In this case, it was never converted... it was built in it's current configuration by Izhmash. All did KVAR was swap out the factory hand guard for their own design.
  4. If you bought it as a collector's piece to keep pristine then stop shooting it. On the other hand, I know you use it for hunting and take it to the range, which means that you're going to need to get comfortable with it getting scratched, dinged, dented etc.. You will be much happier and probably be able to enjoy the shotgun more when you embrace this. I'm not saying be careless with it, but at the same time, little beauty marks like this are nothing to worry about. As mentioned above, these are tools and are going to show some wear.
  5. GunFun is most likely correct. It's probably an FIME GROUP (subsidiary of Arsenal) SGL12-09. https://www.k-var.com/shop/SGL12-09.html If this is the case, it will be marked as being imported by FIME Group and there should be no sign of the old trigger group axis holes. They are great shotguns but you should be aware that you will be limited to using 5 round magazines until you change out some parts. The only US part on this gun is the hand guard so you'll need to do a little homework and swap out a few foreign parts to run larger capacity magazines. http://gunwiki.net/Gu
  6. I'm going to snag one when it comes out and see if it runs reliably with 5.56. The follower design they're using looks almost identical to the 5.56 follower in the Beryl. If nothing else they may accept Pmag followers. Wouldn't that be sweet!
  7. That's what you get trying to hold a heavy muzzle loader over your head like that.
  8. It looks like Arms of America has the folding version in stock for $989.00.
  9. I definitely trust Mike's opinion and have seen this same advice given many times. However, I've always used a scotch brite pad and cleaned it out down to the bare metal every time. It was a habit that I started before I knew any better, but my guns have always run well after a little tuning so I never changed my routine. I've been considering keeping one of them dirty on the sides of the gas block as an experiment as it would definitely be a lot easier to skip this step in cleaning.
  10. I really like using the Romanian RPK pouches with the shoulder strap.
  11. Here's a disappointing quote from DDI... "China, and by the way, this is not a Fury or built by the same company that builds a Fury or Fury 2 or whatever the hell that POS is named."
  12. Wait what? Where did I say that I could not physically bend the lever? My question was if that might solve the problem, not on weather on not I am able too. No, his point is that Russian style firearms often require that the owner is comfortable using a file, hammer, and sandpaper to get things "just right". This can be irritating to guys coming from the AR world, but it can actually be an enjoyable part of the AK experience if you're a tinkerer. Feel free to bend the lever. You can always bend it back. This will solve the problem 90% of the time. However, sometimes the is
  13. Practice over gadgets. GunFun's method works very well. I've also found that forward pressure (towards the muzzle) on the front lug during rotation works wonders and if you get enough practice to be consistent can be almost as easy as standard AK mags.
  14. Before revealing what the new product was, DDI was dropping hints that it was something that had been previously discontinued by another manufacturer. That means that it's very possible that this is a redesigned Catamount Fury being imported by DDI instead of Century. If this is the case it will be a little disappointing, but on the other hand DDI is great about customer service so their warranty means a lot more than Century's would. Supposedly one of the larger YouTube channels is going to be getting one for review in the next week or so.
  15. Here's 175 Rounds of Estate Buckshot in a 50 cal can for $49.99 + shipping. Palmetto State Armory: Put this SKU in the search box (83398)
  16. Still no word on who's making it, but here's a photo and description from Shot Show.... https://n2a.goexposoftware.com/events/ss2016/goExpo/exhibitor/viewExhibitorProfile.php?__id=1948 The DDI12 is the next evolution in 12 Gage Semi Automatic Kalashnikov styled action shotguns. It incorporates the following features: -Left side charging handle -Long sight radius including fiber optic sights -Ambidextrous AR15 style safety selectors -Saiga style magazine -Removable firing cartridge -Chrome lined barrel -Four position gas regulator -Reversible rear sling loop -Compatible with most afte
  17. A nice plus is that if these are well received, it opens up another market for our good friends at CSSpecs. It must have been a real bummer for them when S12s were put on the ban list. They invested a bunch of money in giving us the S12 magazines we asked for, so if these shotguns become popular it could be a great thing for them.
  18. DDI has been dropping hints over on the AKFiles for a while about a new product that they will be offering. David just announced that it will be a 12 gauge rock and lock shotgun that takes S12 magazines. They are also producing their own mags as well. People are still speculating as to the country of origin, but it is being imported. Apparently it will have a left side charging handle, ambi AR style selector and AR stock. It also features a peep sight on the top cover. I'm not a big fan of those features, but I'm glad to see another AK shotgun on the market and another source for maga
  19. I'm generally more an S12 fan but that's a really nice shotgun you ended up with. Congratulations on a great looking build. Any idea what the unloaded weight is at this point? I have heard that the shorter a shotgun gets the less punishing the recoil impulse is. If this is true, I'd bet it's pretty gentle at this point with the shorter barrel, brake, and pad.
  20. The problem is that it is just too easy to get a high capacity assault sedan in this country. The Oldsmobile that was used seats 5 and weighs over 3,500 lbs. Nobody needs a vehicle that large with that many seats! Lighter vehicles would save lives! We need common sense vehicle control that mandates that only approved transportation devices like mopeds under 150lbs are allowed and that these are available only after a background check and waiting period. End the buy-here-pay-here loophole and sue the gas station that sold her the fuel!
