  1. Kmanator, nice conversions! You do good work. How reliable and accurate is the 45acp? The 45 in a krink, would be tough. Where, what, or how did you come up with the bolts, mags, and magwell adaptors, for different cartridges?
  2. Yes, but in the reverse. It is called a 7.62x40mm. Look on AR15.com, in the AR variants section. It is a wildcat, that pushes 7.62, 120 to 125 grain bullets, to around 2600 fps approximately. It uses .223 brass.
  3. I have an AR15 in 7.62x39. There has been good results with accuracy, with all types of ammo in this platform. The buffer, spring, bolt, and hammer spring in some cases, need to be changed for total reliability. There has been ftf's with the hard primered ammo (wolf, etc.). There has also been some bolt breakage. But with some adjustments, the AR15 7.62x39 has merit. Recently C-Products has come out with a reliable (30) round magazine. There are piston kits in R&D, that will work with the 7.62x39 AR15 platform. 7.62x39 ammo is proven, still abundant, and cheaper, than
  4. Nice rifle. Good job on the camo scheme, it breaks up very well. I like the bipod placement. I have (2) other rifles, besides the Saiga, both barrels are fluted. I like the look and feel. Good job!
  5. Nice looking rifle. Good move on the changing the bipod placement.
  6. I purchased this Saiga 308-1 rifle, from Elite Firearms in November of 2006, off of gunbroker.com. I have not fired it yet (test fired 20 rounds by Elite Firearms). It functions fine (hand cycling only, so far). Fit and finish is fine for an AK. It is not a Vepr rifle, but not bad. I have owned a Vepr .308 and a Vepr K .223. I have also owned Bulgarian and a variety of Chinese. I bought the Saiga 308-1, because I wanted to have a "high" capacity Russian AK .308 rifle. My dealings with Elite Firearms were prompt, professional, and pleasant. I have read about the negatives on D
  7. RobArms Vepr in any caliber.
  8. Has anyone tried shooting groups with the Saiga single shot with good ammo, without a magazine? I own a 21" Saiga professional conversion and a 19" Fn Fal. I have'nt shot my Saiga yet. There are Fal owners that have shot very good groups going single shot, without the magazine and using good ammo. I know it defeats the use of a automatic rifle. But if accuracy is critical for one shot, why not? One shot, one great try. There are shooters, that believe certain magazine styles, with some types of gas operations interfere with the accuarcy on follow up shots and grouping. I use
  9. I bought this 308-1 conversion last year.
  10. The ak 6.5 grendel has been done, with good results. I saw it on 6.5 grendel forum. If I remember correctly, it was made off of a 7.62x39mm saiga platform, with a 6.5 barrel.
  11. I picked up a new dsa fn fal today, that has a custom stainless steel "Badger" rifle barrel. After reading the instructions on the DSArms website, I recognize and understand the post, about the gentleman with the new AR10. As stated before, chrome lined barrels are tough and low maintenance.
  12. The "punishing" statement was for my family members, of a slighter stature. I try to buy rifles that everyone in the family could and would operate in a pinch. I like the .308, trust me on that. Even better, I used to own an old sporterized enfield in 30.06. I own a .223, only because it is the current long arm caliber choice of our military. I am not a fan, but I know there are pluses, just not enough for me to use as a sole caliber. I like battle accurate high capacity semi-autos that will perform out to 300 yards. Bottom line, I usually shoot at 100 to 150 yards, 99% of the
  13. If you're really worried about a flat trajectory and good results....you might as well go to the 260 Rem. It has better long range effects and trajectory than the 308...something the .243 doesn't have. The conversion would be the same and the 6.5mm bullets would be alot better in the penetration and ballistic coeficient department. As far as a chrome plated barrel goes....you'd be better off in the accuracy dept. without one. Chrome plating was made for barrel wear protection and not accuracy. No sniper grade weapon has one. You can't get the chrome plating even enough in the barrel to gu
