  1. Yes. Full conversions is the best way to go, but if you can't or don't want to: Changing the stock is easier (for example, to the Tapco Intrafuse). Just remember, if you add a pistol grip you can't use the factory mag (or any foreign mag) without swapping out more parts or removing the PG stock and reinstalling the factory stock. Changing the piston is cheaper and gives you more magazine options.
  2. The 308 usually needs material added, in order for the Safety to work (or, you can replace the Safety with a standard AK Safety). Also, the hole for the FCG on the 308 is a bit wider than the AK FCG's. You might want to put a small washer on the right side of the FCG so it doesn't slide aound too much (Dinzag includes one with his modified FCG's). No feed ramp needed on .308 (someone else will have to answer on the shotguns). Good price, may not be as quite as nice a trigger pull as the G2's (but some polishing will help that), and no 992r parts help. +1
  3. Is this Dinzag's FCG specifically for the Saiga 308? If so, you should contact Dinzag. If not you have a few options: Alter the Safety (requires welding). Alter the FCG (also requires welding). Replace the FCG with the one made specifically for the 308. Replace the Safety with one made for a standard AK. On my latest conversion (a Saiga-M with the same FCG and Safety as the 308) I tried something a little bit different. I used an unaltered G2 (since I had one) and for the safety, took one out of another AK I had. I then tried the unaltered Saiga safety in the AK,
  4. I have one in mine as well. It's a Saiga-M and also came with the same FCG as the .308 as well.
  5. Yes, but only as long as you use U.S. made magazines. If you want to use the original magazine you need to swap one more part.
  6. There are several generations of PMags. They had some dimensional issues (due to shrinkage) in early versions.
  7. Then the Intafuse can work. You could always take the pistol grip off the Intrafuse, and put it on the receiver. Or, you could get the standard T6 and separate pistol grip. The Intrafuse is a bit longer than the standard T6 (whether that's good or bad is up to you).

  9. uzitiger is beating around the bush and trying to say that after a basic conversion, it'll handle better, be more ergonomic and altogether more enjoyable to have. +1 Also, nice work on the forend.
  10. The Norinco Mac-90 has the trigger in the standard AK (forward) position. The Tapco Intrafuse Saiga T6 stock system is for the Saigas with the triggers in the Saiga factory (rearward) position. Does your Mac-90 have a stamped or milled receiver (important to know when choosing a stock)? I don't think you'll be happy with the dust cover mounts (few people are), as it's difficult to get them to hold zero (especially after removing the cover for cleaning). You might want to consider mounting a side rail, or going with the B-Square mount.
  11. Once you add a pistol grip, 922r applies. So, you'll be in compliance as long as you stick to Surefire (or other US made magazines), but not with foreign magazines (including the one that came with the rifle).
  12. O.K., you're starting with 14 of the 922r listed foreign parts (Saiga rifle, as imported). -1 for US made Tapco T6 butt stock = 13 of the 922r listed foreign parts -0 for US made pistol grip (it wasn't imported with one) = 13 (note: if a foreign pistol grip is used, add 1) -0 for US made muzzle device (it wasn't imported with one) = 13 (note: if a foreign muzzle device is used, add 1) -3 for US made FCG = 10 (922r compliant) -3 for US made magazine = 7 (922r compliant) (note: still 10 and 922r compliant with foreign magazine) -1 for US made piston = 6 (922r compliant) (note: still 9

  14. This is a Saiga 12 forum 922r section sticky, btw. Yes, I'm aware of it. I just wanted to give the direct link rather than a link to a link (just trying to save him a step).
  15. Yes, that's where it goes.
  16. 922r also applies if you add a pistol grip (regardless of magazine capacity).
  17. I'm assuming you're asking about a Saiga rifle, since you ask about 30 round magazines. If so, it depends on where the mags are made. If US made, you'd be in compliance using them with the US made T6 stock (but not foreign mags, including the one that came with the gun, as you're adding a pistol grip - unless you swap out a few more parts). The US made pistol grip and muzzle device would not count towards compliance, since the rifles are not imported with either (however, adding a foreign pistol grip or muzzle device would increase the foreign parts count). Maybe this will help:
  18. Another big +1 for Northman I received the Surefire mag and pistol grip nut from Northman yesterday, in perfect condition. Thanks Northman!

    922r

Nothing wrong with a 3-9, but some may not hold up too well on the Saiga (due to the recoil characteristics, especially of the bolt slamming). I had a Simmons break fairly quickly. YMMV. You might want to look at this (not a bad price, especially when you consider that it includes the mount): http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/detail.aspx?ID=649 Some have modified G3 mags to work (but it takes a quite bit of work, grinding and welding - then holds only 17 rounds). Someone on this site is working on an adapter to use FAL mags (but this requires modifications to the rifle). I suppos
  20. Cobra, Wouldn't this still use the factory trigger (and so only count as two parts towards compliance)?

Not if you get Dinzag's .308 FCG The .308 does not need a bullet guide installed, and the new trigger will use the same pin and pin hole location as the factory trigger. So, I'd say it's easier. I used only a hand drill. Though a drill press might have made it easier, it's not required. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=31996 ok what else am i gonna need to put this back together once I do all this grinding and punching rivets out and stuff. FCG (I recommend Dinzag's FCGPGC3): http://www.dinzagarms.com/misc_parts/fcg.html Pistol Grip nut a
  22. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=31996 well i still planned on changing the FCG In that case, unless you want to have the longer stock (Intrafuse), you might want to consider getting the separate butt stock (AK T6 Collapsible) and pistol grip.
  23. Note: There were some Saiga-M's imported with the same FCG as the .308's (I have one in .223). FWIR, only 200 of these were imported (100 in .223 and 100 in 7.62x39) so they're not that common. It seems the Saiga-M's being importing now have a standard AK trigger and a thumbhole stock.
