  1. you know, a lot of the american rifle guys rave about the mini-14. I have not shot one that could hit anything! they seem very reliable, they probably are. I've yet to shoot a good'ol m1 garand - those things sell for a LOT of money. The older guys love'm and are VERY proud of them. whew, 30-06 semi? I'd love to get some time on a lever, too. they come in really weird rounds!
  2. where do you guys hunt hog from? they are introducing turkey here - I wouldn't hunt them with a saiga rifle. I'd go hog hunting every season!!!!! they hunt elk here with a bow, for like six weeks. that doesn't seem very humane. they go in packs and spend most of the day tracking! they have to get really close. one hits the elk, and they use radios to track. these guys get one every year. bear tags get sold here too. in oregon the city people voted out using dogs. the Washington guys tell stories of how the bear will climb down from the tree and charge you!!! I'd definatly use a se
  3. No shit! I bet iraq is safer than some ghettos! we don't have a very tough poor part of town here, I've gone there at night, you just have to walk tall, I like to look people in the eye as they near, nod and be pleasant. If I could do it over again, I would've gone navy or airforce. but, As a kid I didn't take orders very well. when I was going to school, my buddies Marine recruiter was tryin' to get me in as an officer! I just didn't see any marine positions, even as an officer, that would get me anywhere technical, AND seemed like nothing but physical work, and in the way of bullets. BUT
  4. Any one I go with, I tell them after they hear the gun click - before they even turn for the car, I tell them the breech the bolt and look at the barell. Then just in case they don't know what a chambered bullet looks like - I make them fire off the hammer down range. and don't come back with the clip in the gun!!! I left the range sunday because, there was a newbie right next to us that didn't know how to work his bolt rifle. swingin' it this way and that, and couldn't figure out what was goin' on. and my kid and his brother were with me. we wanted to go fishin' anyway. I'm so cautio
  5. yea I still have to smooth mine out! I would've done fewer slots, like four instead of six!!! good job though!

yea that nippled stuf is silver bear"match". not bad ammo, I thought it ok - bet you get tighter groups. $20 for 1000-shipping. J&G has ammo for pretty cheap. aim has low prices too. a case of the silver bear wouldn't be bad.
  10. that ain't bad shootin', whatya talkin' 'bout willis! you certainly would've put down your man. howdya slot that gun. a drill and dremel?
  11. I've shot the markorov, and loved it!!! I beleive I shot a 7.62 X somethin' chinese gun when I was younger, it had a LOT of recoil and almost flipped out of my hand. the markorov is smooth, there's no reason any one shouldn't get it. the 9X18 round seems dinky though. depends on what you're usin it for. for the price everyone should get one. The Mexican red star 45 was the last 45 I shot, and was OK! J&G sells them for $100 or so. http://www.jgsales.com/
  12. looks like a nice weapon! very cool aquisition!
  13. the 7.62 X 39 round is almost exactly like the 30/30 round. I think a well placed shot will easily take a deer. Not elk though. might be too smalll for elk. elk 'round here easily get 1000 pounds. Tasty animals!!!!! season's almost here. I can't wait 'till the meat starts filterin' in!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. there shouldn't be any scope rings, they mount on a mechanism on the side - see the rail on the left side of the receiver? cleaning rod, accesorry kit (cylydrical tube), one ten round mag - manual. is what should have come with your rifle!
  15. I use the cleaning accesery tube. The thin slot close to the bottom. use it to extend the lever, and twist. the gas tube will come right out - IF the bolt carier is off.
  16. use the slotted bit, in the cleaning kit, cut out a 1X2" peice of cloth and run the clening rod from the barrel end to the receiver, REMOVE the bolt carier though. that odda do it. OR just heat it up with multiple rounds!!!! it'll smoke a little but will burn off none the less!
  17. I go 500 rnds before cleaning. the gas tube is where most of the mess is. If you go too long without cleaning the vent to the barrel, it'll double fire.
  18. we had one more on sunday, a little eruption. the scientists are sayin' magma's comin'. wouldn't that be cool!!!?! the earthquakes aren't subsiding.
  19. Rumor has it - a draft might be insighted AFTER the election. I even saw the recruiting commercials on the spanish channel! they're getting more frequent, I've noticed. I thought the national guard wasn't spos'd to be issued out, or the reserves or something.
  20. they're on order with eaa.corp. go to the 7.62 X 39 thread. there is a link to the "what's new". they wrote me back when writing an E-mail to them, saying mid 2005! it's in process.

I called j&G one time and shipping is app. $20. the nippled ammo I've seen is silver bear "match" ammo. it has a nipple on the point. maybe some people are calling sp's nippled ammo - idonno? silver bear's clean good ammo. I preffer wolf, cheap and available! I buy it by the case so I have the freedom of going when the breeze takes me. 'bout four trips for me!
  22. We all meet at spots in the middle of the forests. There are only a few ranges around (in the city), and I'm really not paying attention anyway. when you guys say ranges, I invision a gun club type, organized, partitioned ranges. we designate spots in the woods, and the city kids use word of mouth. the rules are so many miles out of the metro area, gov. land, so many feet away from public roads. shooting into gravel piles and into embankments is highly recomended. so depending on what side of the river, word of mouth designates which shooting spot you go to - there's two heavily wooded areas
  23. you got it! 30 round regular ak mags go for $15 bucks! a 3/4 X 4" pipe sells for about a buck and a half. this pipe is the perfect radius for the trunion as a feed ramp. hey oldskool, do you own a svd (or variant), like your avatarr, shows? if you do, tell us the details. it's sweet lookin'
  24. you have to drill out the pins that hold the trigger levers, twards the back of ther receiver, directly above where the pistol grip's going to go - don't you? use GOOD drill bits it really hard metal!
