  1. If you install the Russian Saiga Skeleton Stock (2 foriegn 'Parts' per ATF - PG AND Butstock, albeit in one piece) Then you add an ALL US 30 rd Mag. - You Are NOT 922r Compliant. You Now have 15 'countable parts' to start and you've replaced 3 w/ US (mag) - then you still need 2 US to get to 10 foriegn parts to be 922r compliant (FEDERAL Law Only - ck Kali and Ny it won't work there - shitty state laws...) I like to add the Ace Folding/PG (2 US) and a US 30 rd. mag (3 US) then I'm Over by 1 Part, I'm down to 9 Imported parts. Detail: 1) You Started w/ a stock Saiga w/ MOnte Carlo Stoc
  2. You asked for a 'No Gunsmithing' option I believe.... It will cost you $185 for the Ace Folder/PG (2 US) and 12.99 for 1 30 rd. Master Moulder (Thermold) mag (3 US): (if you go w/ just a new foregrip & not the ACE folder - even cheaper) Bolt them on, Shave some off the bottom of the MM mag rear catch (ask me for details with a pocket knife) : Here's the Result - I love the Folder - I can Fire It all Day Folded Too! Doesn't look as good as most 'conversions', but I hasten to say, it looks better than some I've seen.... Takes a screw driver and a pocket knife and about 15 minutes. (NOT
  3. Oh, sorry, I was talking for the Great State of TX.....(and almost the rest of the Country) And also the 30 rd. wouldn't work in NY or is it NJ?? or both?) Yes , this 'easy' method complies w/ 922r (National Law) - BUT you're right Several States have EVEN More Stringent Laws On Top of it.... p.s. - Here I give more detail on how to get to my 'easy' conversion: (post is about 3/4 down 1st page) http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=20077 Link to Buy Master Molder 30 rd. mags @ CDNN: http://www.cdnninvestments.com/ak7630lemamo.html
  4. Very easy to get the all USA Master Moulder 30 rd mags to fit the stock Saiga x 39: 1. Don't do anything to the Front mag catch (it's alittle wider than the stock 10 rd., but fits nice and tight). 2. Just shave off about 1 mm or so from the UNDERSIDE of the Rear mag catch. (You can verify how much by lining up the stock 10 rd. mag you have exactly side by side w/ the MM 30 rd.) I use my serated pocket kife - scribe a starting line w/ the std. part of the blade, then just us the serrated part to saw off the excess plastic on the lip. 3. Don't take off too much, be conservative when
  5. Haha.... well said. Now that its getting much colder out my itchy trigger finger ... she isn't so itchy anymore. Heres hoping for a random warm day in the middle of December! -PK What's all this Cold Shit...Ha! it's 80 here, we can shoot all year round outdoors...Ah, the GREAT Republic of Texas! Sorry, to all the great Members living up north...we only get to brag about our weather in winter down here (we sweat a bit too much in summer to brag - but we still can shoot year 'round)
  6. I got my Saiga 7.62 in July. I've put about 500 rds. thru since then. Basically just getting familiar with her and getting her ready and in the shape I want. Didn't feel I was up to the whole 'conversion' so I just added the PG/Folding stock from ACE (2 US) and MM 30 rd mags (3 US). Scoped it for awhile, but I have since removed it ... I like the look and feel w/o the scope on the 16". Plus I shoot just about as good at 100 yds. anyway. I Love my Saiga and I always clean it real good after each use (Break Free CLP, Hoppe's # 9 in the bore). Usually shoot Wolf HP, but I have some good S&B
  7. Can't tell you about .308 mags, but for the 7.62 I use the Master Moulder from CDNN @ $12.99 ea. Very simple to file (I use a serated pocket knife and cut it down) close to 1 mm off the BOTTOM of the rear catch. Buy 4 or so to make it worth the shipping. Good mags for me no probs. (also - I like to round off the front bottom edges at the floor plate - they're kinda sharp the way the come.
  8. Tritium has it right....great Price.... A great Price if they have them in stock, I'll get another..... http://www.classicarms.us/ I got my 7.62 about 5 mo. ago for $269 + tax locally, and I thought that was a good price!
  9. Here's Mine - 7.62 x 39, the 'easy' solution to 30 rd. 1) Bolt on ACE Folding Stock & Pistol Grip ($185 - but I got for $142 by a mistake from a new girl there) 2) Just use any USA made Mag - I Use the Master Moulder & slight mod w/ a pocket knife on the REAR Catch. LEGAL EAGLE
  10. VERY NICE, Her and Her... Russian Women..... aaaahhh...like their weapons.... watch out! But I diegress..... LOL ... Here's the quick deal on what you asked.......NO, if you use 30 rd. mag (USA or NOT) you aren't Legal (922r) with a SAIGA w/ ANY Russian made stock. You'll need to change the stock PLUS One or TWO more Parts from USA. With USA mags......here's what I did (there are many other ways to really 'convert' to legal 30 rd. mags - All Covered Here) EASIEST WAY : 1) bolt on the ACE Folding Stock & Pistol Grip ($150 - $185) (2 USA Parts) and Be Sure to Use the USA 30 rd.
  11. So It's Surefire or Master Moulder for USA 30 rd. mags.... I Know about the MM, I have 4 of them...they work great. At $12.99 each from CDNN how can You beat it? (guaranteed...they work w/ no mod to the gun (7.62) just minor shaving on the back side lip (2 mm - on the low side) to fit on an unmodified Saiga.
  12. What? HM? What are u talking about? And Surefire- Are u Sure It's 100% US Made? I think they May be crap too. Someone tell me otherwise. BS012
  13. NP.... just thought it might help some other guys...
  14. Here is the URL - http://www.cdnninvestments.com/ sorry but I can't seem to get the URL link to work here...here is the link to their website...just do a SEARCH on 'master moulder mags' when You get there, sorry...GET them while you can!
  15. Just my opinion - but after testing...I've come to the conclusion scopes just add weight and hassels on the 7.62 - I'm good at 100yds. with iron sights...that's good enough for me....w/ 30 rd mags...shit..i'll kill the target, period. Make your 7.62 an AK, 30 rd. mag. - PG and Folding stock. Just my opinion. If you want to scope, that's ok; maybe on a Draganoff long barell w/ a bipod. A copy of a post I just made on MM mags: Here is something that might help you: (slightly modified post I just made concerning the Master Moulder 30 rd. mags.) First, I agree w/ the others about NOT
  16. Here's a copy of a Post I just did on mags. - hope it helps someone: Here is something that might help you: (slightly modified post I just made concerning the Master Moulder 30 rd. mags.) First, I agree w/ the others about NOT ordering your Saiga w/ the skeleton stock (Unless you want to keep it that way and Not use 30 rd. mags.) You'll need to do 'some' type of conversion to be legal w/ 30 rd. mags. 1) You can do the 'Full Conversion' which requires gunsmithing (drilling, changing out Trigger parts, moving the entire FCG forward, etc.(The Best, if you like to tear the guts out
  17. Here is something that might help you: (slightly modified post I just made concerning the Master Moulder 30 rd. mags.) First, I agree w/ the others about NOT ordering your Saiga w/ the skeleton stock (Unless you want to keep it that way and Not use 30 rd. mags.) If you want 30 rd. you'll have to trash the skeleton Russian stock. (or do some major internal conversion with US parts) You'll need to do 'some' type of conversion to be legal w/ 30 rd. mags. 1) You can do the 'Full Conversion' which requires gunsmithing (drilling, changing out Trigger parts, moving the entire FCG for
  18. I like the MM mags! First I ordered 1 just to test it. I dremeled it, Front side and Back side to match my stock 10 rd. Tested at range - No Probs. (slight wobble) Then I had some probs. finding more, but now they have them at CDNN for 12.99 (link was previously posted above). I ordered 3 more. But this time I tried just working on ONE side first to see if it would catch on my unmodified 7.62 Saiga. I lined up the MM mag to the stock one, and it looked like I needed to shave off about 2 mm on the UNDERSIDE of the REAR mag catch lip on the mag. Took out my 1/2 serrated pocket knife, scribed
  19. Nice...I like it...I'm getting a .223 next. My 7.62 is getting the ACE treatment right now and I have already verify tested the Master Moulder USA 30 rd. mags (slight filing mod). Question is: Pretty easy to install the ACE Folder right? I have mine, they just screwed up and forgot to send the SFM (side folding mechanism) but I was only charged 129 + ship = $142, so I guess it was worth the wait until they ship the missing part. I had already removed the stock when I noticed the error...but they are fine about correcting the mistake. Do you think I sould get the 20" like yours or the 16" l
  20. First, Welcome to the forum! 2nd....you will find you answer here....3rd...I suggest you don't do anything until you learn your rifle more. (You don't even know if you have the 16" or 20" version) It sounds like you have the short (16" carbine) since you said you have seen longer barreled versions. My 2 cents: 1st learn how to field strip it (pretty easy, unless something like the top cover is too tight to remove - like mine! LOL) Then clean it real good BEFORE firing 1st time. Then have fun at the range a couple times. Then start thinking how to get her to use 30 rd. mags. My 7.62 is
  21. Does anyone know if the ACE Stock Set (US) Fits on All Saiga's 12, to .223 . ; Just curious before I call them this week. (Ineed for my 7.62)
  22. Master Moulders are hard to get it seems...Here is another option for US 30 rd (3 parts): US made 30 rd - 3 US parts Has Anyone tried these? I guess I will get a couple to mod and see....
  23. WoW!, Thanks for all the advice. I was leaning just a bit to the .223, due to ammo cost, etc....but ya'll make alot of sense. I'm going ahead and aquiring the .308, I think as my #2 Saiga. I know I won't reget it, and I can get the .223 in a couple more months if I still want to toy around with it. Should I stay w/ the 16" carbine or opt for something way diff., 'Saiganov' like, the 20" w/ Skeleton stock and sniper scope (w/bi pod potential) ??
