  1. rhodes how does the xs post work? install and adjust? Took a look at the you tube link you had and I know i am going with you setup now.
  2. Ive only dealt with the AK Mojo beginning with the Micro-Click and then the Original design. They are accurate and for use with a target rifle would have no issue with them. What I discovered on mine was the length between pins and front where the spring exerts pressure is a bit short lessening the pressure from the spring allowing it to pop up. The Mosin is favorably reviewed as is the Mauser. I found I really missed being able to set range with ease in addition to having to push the sight back down after each shot even after reforming the spring to increase pressure. In the field I kept havi
  3. A lot of people have problems with the Micro-Click as it isn't very rugged and will tend to "pop up" during recoil on many rifles. Losing ballistics compensation also not an improvement. The Krebs is better made IMHO. Rhodes 1968 elaborate on the down side of the MOJO. I had an old set that i have been sighting in at the range. I haven't tried them in a rapid fire session yet. Glad to find out that the XS post sight is a good combo. I was giving that one a long look. Its going to be my next buy. Those MOJO micro's ultra accurate with my Swedish Mauser M96. I haven't found a 300 o
  4. I have used the manure pit to test fire the Saiga 7.62 and S12 (00 buck and slug). The pit is a mix of poop and saw dust. I usually wait for about two to three feet of thickness. No exits of any kind at 10 foot distance. It is amazing at how the saw dust dissipates and or absorbs the velocity of this rounds. Don't sell that 7.62 best bang for your SHTF buck. If you are going to sell that .223 let me know as i would like to complete the set provided you hold it untill my tax return comes in.
  5. there only two that i know of that work very well. J-tac excellent brake but Kings armory has super sweet brake and hider in one http://www.kingarmory.com/My_Homepage_Files/Page57.html They used to have demo video of the AK and Shotgun brake/hider at night absolutely great!!!! read the detailed explanation on brake, comps etc. These guys know there stuff. Ahhh you tube hear you go!!!
  6. Congratulations!!!! TR now you now i am getting impatient to do mine. I am not ready to get the brake yet and i don't want to bugger up the threads.
  7. I am doing the happy dance. I don't have a case in front of me but from what i remember just the kiss on the side. The cases looked in good shape other wise. Yep just viewed the case swelling thread and my cases had nothing like that.
  8. You Rock!!!! I noticed that the other night when i was installing the bullet guide and thought it was a little odd. I had planned to post a question inquiring about that recess. I went to the range and sighted the beast in at 100 yds. Noticed the cases were dinged as well. I was just about to lament my woes but you My Good Sir Have renewed my hopes for threads. You know i was cleaning the rifle and thinking to myself these siagas (S12 and 7.62) are just super fun weapons, easy to tinker with, easy to shoot and clean just like my Glock 10mm. Gotta love em.
  9. bummed!! 09 with dimples, HG relief groves in barrel and i can't see any threads. Heck i stared at the barrel end until i was cross eyed hoping for them to appear. There did seem to be a ever so small gap but alot of gunk (for lack of a bette term) so i cleaned as well as i could and nada. well I guess I will be contacting Dinzag when i am ready to thread the end.
  10. chevyman thanks for the response. I like the idea of a slimmer HG thats why i like the feel of the stock HG. I really don't want to worry about the HG getting to hot to handle or melting at an importune time. NailBomb Is that the surefire HG? "tinkerers gun" got to love it. Thats why i really enjoy these weapons but at the same time no real reason to reinvent the wheel so when some one has a product we all have questions about this forum serves as a great resource. keep on shooting.
  11. Can't wait for your review on this one. does it comes with the ability to cover the rails? This seems to be the only down side of an other wise perfect weapon. Do you have any links on the surefire HG? I have a UTG but man is it bulky and i don't see a need for all those rail,so I haven't used it yet. The only things i plan to hang off the front is a flash light and maybe a fore grip at some point.
  12. iyaoyas98, thanks for the links. I have been reading some of the options for the ar15 and reviews. hi viz-sightlink-etc. seem to have couple reviews that state sights come loose and don't gather light in low light conditions like being under cover at the range. I haven't come across any reviews of the truglo ar sight. the hi viz sights for my 10/22 gather light under cover as they are exposed on all sides and most of the designs are already covered on the sides then with the sight block ears even less light is allowed in for the fiber optic to access. Looks like remaining options wo
  13. Bummer just got off the phone will not work on AK's or saiga's
  14. guys I have recently changed my 10/22 sights to hi viz fiber optic and my glock sights to truglo tfo's. They have help my old eyes to get a better front sight picture. I have been doing some searches on the forum and web for front sight discussion but haven't found any suggestions on fiber optic front sights for the AK or saiga. I did run across the XS and Amerigo tritium front sight but not a plain fiber optic. I guess i am old school as i like to know what my weapon will do with iron sights before i look for optics. This way in case the optics fail for some reason then i know i can still
  15. teaser, Thanks for the feedback. This is exactly what i needed to make final decision on handgaurd.
  16. Teaser and everyone, did you get a final verdict on the the heat material? I am getting my 7.62 conversion finished and would really like to keep the OEM handguard. Lets hear what everyone came up with. Did anyone try to put some of the heat material on the contact points (ie where the screws attache to the barrel lugs?) did that make a difference?
  17. honestly when i saw the add i thought it might be a joke. "BOHICA" is and old acronym along the lines of "SNAFU and FUBAR"
  18. I think i am going to go with the krebs system with the XS ar15 24/7 http://www.xssights.com/store/tactical.html . No fuss no muss and a pretty good all light condition setup.

    My new baby

many thanks to battlerifleg3 for the stock and the great info on this site. Corbra's heat sheild/ Krebs sights with XS AR 24/7 sight post next. stock is actually same color as grip and forehand. Just couldn't get it to show up on pic.
  20. I have always enjoyed the 6.5 x 55 Swiss round and recently found the the 6.5 Grendel but this 6.5 mpc looks like the most convenient conversion for the saiga. Still what advantage would this round provide over the 7.62 x39? I mean if one were to look at having to reload their cache of SHTF rounds it would have to be for a very good reason. any help and info will be appreciated.
  21. too funny!!! I would have to say my AMD 65 and or my glock 20 (10 mm)
