  1. The "idiot" was my dad!πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚πŸ˜… lol He had a pipe burst in his basement. Not from cold, just metal fatigue, somehow... But that moisture screwed up a bunch of guns... I will get to them eventually. He's too old to really do it right, any more. Sadly... πŸ˜₯
  2. Scored these yesterday afternoon. Price was a little more than I'd like... But I'm also thinking the days of "30 dollars a thousand" are long since past...πŸ˜” Suck it!!πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…
  3. I picked up a Savage Model 93. Blued, heavy barrel, wooden stock. It had the bolt rusted closed as it was in a basement and not quite properly stored. I got that apart, and took the bolt out. Cleaned it all up as best i could... The barrel was bad but not destroyed. The bolt cleaned up pretty well... Other than internally... Took a few shots to get it sighted in with a new optic and noticed that almost EVERY case that ejected was splitting. Typically this is from carbon ring build up in the chamber, but... Is possible it's a headspace issue. Considering its 17HMR I was doubtful the headspace w
  4. I've always had excellent luck as far as feed and fit with my FBMG mags for the.308.
  5. I've got a few thousand brand new magnum large rifle primers I'd certainly be willing to trade up for small rifle. Doesn't really do any good with hazmat charges, though... πŸ€”πŸ™„πŸ˜”
  6. And... How does this 300 dollar rifle which is more a 500 dollar rifle shoot??? You tell me... All are 5 shot groups at 200 yards. Sure some aren't this good... But for the most part... THEY ARE consistently this size! I'll take it!!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ
  7. Just thought I'd share some info... Not necessarily related to the exact topic thread... But in the past couple years I've updated that same savage axis 223. Put it into a boyds stock, and have been working with it at 200 yards. Before and after pics...
  8. ANYONE out there seeing primers for sale?? I see small amounts of powder at local shops, but none that I typically use. I passed up a couple thousand small rifle magnum primers on powder valley an hour ago. But... The price really didn't thrill me. Bullets aren't too much of a problem sourcing... What are the rest of you seeing?? Thoughts? Comments??
  9. It's getting there. This was the local bass pro yesterday. And yes... Still overpriced. No primers to be had...
  10. And you can see from the load data card... The rounds are 10 years old. They still shoot amazingly well. ☺ Edited to add... This is out if a 30-06. Not a .308. But I have two savage's in 308 that shoot them ALMOST as good!πŸ˜‰
  11. 308 bullets com come in flavors from 100 grains up to 220. 155 grain bullets are nothing new nor unusual. In fact...i was shooting this morning with 155 grain Nosler custom competition hollow points out of a stainless savage axis 2. This is a TYPICAL 3 shot group with that rifle with these rounds at 200 yards. ( yes. TWO hundred)
  12. Snap cap idea sounds like a winner to me!!!
  13. Cutting the shroud will most likely cause you to ruin it... And then you won't be using it anyways... I'd look for a shorter gas plug, if you MUST continue to use the shroud. Personally I like them... So I'd look for a shorter plug.
  14. You have THREE OPTIONS. Keep the shroud, ditch the plug. Keep the plug ditch the shroud. Get a new plug to allow you to use the shroud, too. That's it. Those are your choices. Sorry.
  15. You don't have the skill to make wood furniture fit, but rebarreling in a completely new caliber is not even in question?!?πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ™„πŸ˜³
  16. Not sure what you feel the need to apologize for... I've used BSA optics on my 10/22's for decades... Same scope on each one... 6-24X50, w/adjustable objectives... I've NEVER had any issues with any of them. Im not sure who you're thinking is reading these posts... But i can promise you, most likely NONE of them are thinking night force, or SteinerπŸ˜…πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚ Maybe if you've gotta shoot 1000 yards, and need repeatability in the adjustments of the optic... Then yes...nightforce is probably a good call... But anything less... You're jerking yourself off to pay for the name.
  17. Highpockets... Someone spent a bit of money to put it together that way from the original factory configuration. Change anything you don't like, and keep what you do. If it's the way you like it...then you scored a great find!! You didn't have to mess with it to get what you wanted! It's only more desirable to someone who wants their rifle set up that way. If you're happy with it... It sure beats having to source all the aftermarket parts and do the work yourself... You get the benefit without the hassle!!😁😁😁
  18. Seems really odd that a shell would deform AFTER firing and then fail to eject... Can you provide a little more info on that?? You've got me truly confused.
  19. There's nothing wrong with a " frankengun" I'm saying that because it's a hodge podge of all kinds of different parts put together. It's hard to answer the question of "what do I have?" when you have 6 Brands of parts put together. If it does what the OP desires, he's lucky to have scored it already the way he likes it!! Not downing it in any way!!
  20. Not sure on who makes the best... But it sure sounds like a great way to burn up expensive ammo REALLY FAST!!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  21. You have a frankengun. Congrats!! Enjoy it!!❀
  22. Dirty side of puck towards gas block. The gas adjustment should be all the way in till tight, then loosen to the first click. Which SHOULD be the low gas setting, loosen one more click to the high gas setting. At least that's how i remember it from about 15 years ago... Lol
  23. Gotcha! Thanks. Problem is... I have 3 barrels that are totally complete. Barrel nuts, gas blocks, front sights. And triangular handguard brackets. I know i'd have to take them apart to remove the triangular bracket. Guess while it's apart i'd be swapping out the barrel nut as well... So that makes it easier to understand the mounting, knowing they need their own special barrel nut. Thanks!!!
  24. So... I'm trying to figure out HOW to attach either keymod, or mlock handguards to an AR... Do they attach to a threaded block mounted to the barrel or what?? I know how free floats attach, and the delta rings... Can't figure out the other two though.. You'd think it would be easy to look up. I think Google is laughing at me...
  25. Wishper... Why the fuck are you commenting on a 10 year old thread???? 😳😳
