Does anyone know where I could find a 2 round magazine for the Saiga-12, so I could hunt with it legally? I've got more than enough compliance parts so I could use foreign mags if that's all there is. Or does anyone know how to legally block the stock 5 round magazine and make it a 2 rounder (don't want any trouble from Fish & Game)

Can't keep bullet guide in place?

red loctite should do the trick. you could also try JB weld on the threads, that would never come out haha -
Just got one for my S-12 conversion and was wondering how much material I should be removing and from where? It looks to me like it needs to be relieved on the inner part of the "U" that points towards the barrel, but I wanna be sure before I take a dremel to it.

yea i sprayed it on some paper first. It went on black so I thought it was ok then did the gun. It dried to a dark grey.... bought another can of Rustoleum industrial type paint, this time Gloss Black. Hopefully that matches. If not i'm just gonna Duracoat the thing -

turns out that that Rustoleum isn't even close to the stock color. I wanted black, it says black on the can, but it came out dark grey......wtf..... -
+1 on cobalt bits. They cut through that weld like a hot knife through butter, I didn't even hardly have to push on the drill lol. Great bits but expensive (3-4 bucks a pop)

mine seems to line up OK. I did have to file the snot out of the front two sides so they would slide under the trunnion. Nothing a dremel and a file couldn't cure.

Ok I got the conversion done. I went with stainless screws rather than pop rivets, seemed like too much trouble. For the paint I bought a can of Rustoleum Specialty High Heat paint, says it's good for up to 1200* without baking. Sounds good to me, don't know what it's resistance to brake cleaner is gonna be like though haha. Just waiting on the retaining wire from Tapco then I'll reassemble and post pics. -

I believe you take your non-trigger arm and put it under the hook for extra sturdiness during automatic fire while going prone, that's why its on teh SAW anyway. Could be wrong but I've seen it used that way.

I'm not sure about the hand guard but the butt stocks are all interchangeable except for the Saiga 100 .308 model.

In that case I'll just toss the e-clips and go with the retaining wire. Thanks for the info!

Well I had nothing better to do today so I started my conversion. I noticed a couple of things I didn't expect 1. Those pins in the back were really easy to get off lol, just tap them a few times with the drill and they fell out 2. The rivets holding the plate on were pretty easy to get off, but I haven't been able to get that spot weld off. That's as far as I got today, couple of questions: 1. What do I use to get the rivets out of the gun now that the plate has been removed? Do i just drill them out or try and punch? 2. Whats the best way to get that trigger guard off the -
what about this thing? http://www.tapco.com/proddesc.aspx?id=99a8...c8-3df95755f0ee or this? http://www.tapco.com/proddesc.aspx?id=531a...4f-3445a0120512 would either of those work? I tried looking at the DYI link, but I have to register to see the pics. Registered but waiting for moderator activation

Dad's got a pop riveter in the garage and that got me thinking, could I use pop rivets for the S-12 conversion or would that not work??? Really don't wanna have to go the screw route. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only things getting riveted are the trigger guard and the safety stop if I go that route right?

thanks for all the replies! The reason I'm asking is because I ordered a FCG from Dinzag and he threw in some e-clips. I'd rather use those because I have them already. So these take the place of the retaining spring? Does that mean I get to plug up all 4 holes in the rear of the receiver with the nylon plugs?

could someone tell me where these go/what they are for or point me in the direction of a tutorial that shows how to install them? thanks!
