  1. No, bro. You cant do it. Telescoping or folding stock then. uhhhhh....no dude. Im sorry man. It WOULD be cool though. Plus? the shortie shotgun stock is REAL hard on you recoil wise. This is also related to the first gun laws there were. I dont know if you asked or not, but.....ADAPTER? LOL I have a machinist in MY pocket. WHAT adapter? : / whats it for, a LAWN SET? :) No, the stock itself is an imported part regardless if its a mote-carlo stock or P.G... Your adapter is only adding parts, not a widely availble part either, so it wont ADD to your US count either. Im sorry man. That
  2. If your pump comes with a mag plug in it, you CANNOT remove it. Hence My confusion here.
  3. Yeh my SAR1 was pretty cheap. Forgot about that one. You want the serial # on the SAR1 to have the last four digits of 2002 or better. I believe that is the year imported, and the older ones have or develop some nasty trigger slap. Mine is a 2000, and after 500 rounds I start to feel it in my trigger finger. Quite annoying if you ask me. I might go through the trouble of having that fixed or just fix it myself if it doesnt wear down and start to go away soon. I still say SAVE YOUR MONEY and get a good preban AR!!!! They are not subject to the AWB rules regarding what you can or cannot put
  4. Old mausers and springfields in good shape are fairly cheap and shoot nice if you get a decent one. Simple enough to check for shot out barrels - just take a live round, and put it bullet end first into the muzzle without force. you should have a few MM on a fresh barrel, a couple mm on a used barrel and 1mm on a shot out barrel when measured from the muzzle to the case's neck. k98 mausers take 8mm, and the springfeilds mostly take 30-06. decent mauser will run you about 100 US to 250 US for a real nice one with all matching 3rd reich markings. Springfields are a little more than that, but you
  5. I would come get it, but I dont feel like trying to explain to a cop in NYC what Im doing within city limits with a centerfire rifle. I dont think I can take the ferry either. Illegally crossing state lines then. Let me think about it, the fees to ship from your dealer to mine add a lot to a cheap gun's cost.
  6. I would actually suggest that you buy a preban AR, as well as keep your ammo types common to the other guns that you own as best you can. MAKE SURE you do a lot of research on ARs before you buy a "preban" from ANY dealer you dont deal with normally and trust. Ive had guys try to pass off pinned, welded, you name it bushmaster POS, as preban. A good minimum price for a pre-ban AR is about 1000 bucks for A1 type carbines with some use. Colt, Eagle Arms, Olympic Arms, (what others did I miss you guys?) are the company names you want to see on the reciever whether or not you go the preban route.
  7. I like my old Marlin model 60. I can pick off quarters at 25 feet with iron sights every shot with it no problem and Charcoal briquetes out at 50 yards with it 4 out of 5 or better that I set up. I even use a penny for the rear sight's elevation. Cheap ammo, cheap gun, cheap ammo == loads of fun. Check into the Wolf .22 rimfire ammo if youve never used it. Its the best there is.
  8. I hate to sound whimpish here but I'll take the heat if I do: .17 rimfire dude check it OUT! Killer accuracy, good pest gun, low noise and recoil. http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/News-06-03-2002.html http://www.marlinfirearms.com/firearms/17magnum/index.htm or, if you never heard of these guys and you have the money for one in 30-06: http://www.sako.fi/
  9. It sould say in your local game regulations what guns/gauges may be used legally during shotgun season. Most all shotgun seasons that I am aware of include .410 in them. What you need is the magazine capacity afield. Here where I am, it is 2 or 3 rounds or something for shotgun season. That is just my particular county. Some seasons are different than others in the same place even with mag cap. limitations. You DO NOT want to have a magazine in your possession that can accept more rounds than allowed for the game season while you are AFIELD. Whether you hunt or not doesnt matter in some stric
  10. I am hearing the same thing 100% from the LE in my area as well. People are so paranoid of terrorism these days, private gun owners are getting a bad deal is what it basically comes down to. Also - Ammo laws are getting crazy as well. Be SURE you can legally possess that stuff in your state/town/city BEFORE you buy it, are out on a hunt, or bring it to the range.
  11. well this is why there are laws. if this guy isnt who he says he is, well, he better hope we dont decide to report him. If you ARE legitimate ATF man, I think now would be a good time to properly identify yourself and follow procedure. You are illegally "watching us" as you so eloquently put it, and you are also tryin to use entrapment methods against my fellow users.
  12. You cannot have a tube-fed shotgun that holds more than 5 rounds. Pump, semi, anything. A .410 saiga you could, and can even get 10 round mags for it. The tube in excess of 5 rounds is a rifle-specific law. If you all start yellin, I might go back to where I was looking for the stupid Importation laws and post it, but Im askin ya'll to just friggin believe me for once instead of making me stress hardcore with the ATF site. I just dont feel like it today. Besides the federal laws covering guns like that one, there are MANY more laws in cali that you really have to worry about. You should go pri
  13. Has anybody else noticed that for someone acting in an official role, this guy misspells a bit too much? Id be interested in his IP myself as well as the timestamp of his website login. I do believe that one has to produce a government ID # upon request after identifying themselves btw....
  14. Gaddis I am almost positive that NJ goes by the 10 round limit. Mag cap. limits in states that have them go by the lines of if it fits into the AWB classifications, then its what they are talking about. Meaning that you cannot clip a high cap to a post ban weapon in your state, hi cap being more than 10 rounds in semi automatic rifles and pistols. Like you cant get pistol mags for your glock that hold 15 rounds anymore in your area. Massacussetts has that law too. Its something to the effect of only new manufacture (10 rounds or less are the only non-LEO stuff being made) are you allowed to ow
  15. Kalifornia Newbie: there are many guns that take stripper clips into the magazine well like you described. M1 garands, mausers, many hunting rifles. Basically anything with whats called a floorplate will load in that manner. Most if not all should also be legal in Cali. As for loading shells into a magazine THEN putting a spring in it and putting it back together, uh, I would think you would have to be Hercules in the hands to do that. Have you considered or looked into a Saiga 410? .410 is a caliber, making it a rifle-classed weapon. You might be able to own one of those in Cali
  16. I wouldnt get your hopes up, chief. They will get stricter now that we have terrorism here at home. If you look at the dates the laws were set, there were things that happened the year or two before that caused the legislation that none of us were able to have a say in to go through. What we SHOULD be doing is appealing to the NRA and the politicians that will listen to impose a set clear law that allows everything with proper paperwork and or training. Otherwise we will all have grandfathered weapons and only will be able to buy single shot rifles and shotguns. You can put your money on that.
  17. how many calls did they have to get before they finally sent an agent to answer some questions in here? i want to see all these tax dollars i had to pay on my weapons in use for once....I for one will have a battery of questions for you soon. seeing how you cannot allow an illegal act to take place, i know you will have to answer each and every one of them completely and honestly. i thank you in advance for helping all of us in here. ATF Man: i'll bite...actually, you shoulda asked me that when i was a kid. i posted a little info about some of those experiences in the banned ammo topic so
  18. ATF Man: dont worry, i do clean up my property when im done because i dont want to look at the mess. and no, i dont go blowing up tv tubes either....

hahah i would LOVE to see a short mpeg of him. sounds like some seriously funny stuff.
  20. Im not sure combining the forums would do any good, myself. Billyjobob: I will say one thing about the parts/accessories issue tho. Im considering going to a machinist I know and getting my front sight that way. Also considering a duck rail on the barrel too, and putting turkey sights on my saiga. Been looking into a new gun here, and I will tell ya, they are tryin to rake me over the coals for a new saiga. 450 bucks? that shit aint right. Its a 200 dollar gun for god's sake. So unless I order it my own damn self, I highly doubt that I will even buy a second saiga.

KySoldier: let me give you an example. apart from the hearing issue, which one can mostly avoid with hearing protection, I will give you an example of a guy I know here in NY: A friend of mine, I will call him Sam, a couple years back joined a local gun club with a few friends of his to try something new. He was new to shooting, and apparantly he has a knack for clays. Well, Sam went out and bought a nice over under trap gun, and started entering tournaments locally in both the light and magnum load categories. Aparrantly, the magnum load categories were lighter on the competition. Sam tho

well I am not a doctor by any means, but I do know that you should take double the time off from 12 gauging or any long arm that you shoulder with any kick to it...hearing and vision problems are common for long time shooters, so I wouldnt push it with your eye if you can help it for a while. Maybe its time to pricatice your hip shot....stick to your .22 for a while if you cant stand it. Glad to hear you arent permanently hurt.

Verson: how is your eye? is it going to be a problem if you shoot heavy rounds down the road? KySoldier: what we use in our safe are those little packets of silca gell. you need a few of them if you just reuse the ones you get in shoe boxes, but you can also buy them from gun supply catalogs and whatnot. You can bake them once a month for like 15 minutes or so to dry them back out. Seems to keep almost all the moisture out of the safe. Long term storage, I just coat em up with oil real good and wrap them in an old pant leg, which I might add also works good for a dropcloth, as well as an i
