czgunner 0
Okay guys/gals if any of you are looking to buy a die to thread your barrels, I have found about the cheapest place. Check out the following: Inch pattern dies Specifically part #'s 1540242 and 1536242 Metric patern dies Specifically part #'s 1253952 and 1254472 I have several coming. I'm not sure of the quality, but for the price, it's probably not an issue.
jgillaspy 24
What would you use for a TAT?
czgunner 0
What would you use for a TAT? Brownells carries tat's, and dinzag can hook you up too.
cscharlie 107
Brownells said that they do not stock the TAT for the 5/8 ( AR10 threads).
jgillaspy 24
I can't seem to figure this out by looking on the charts. . . Which die would I need to thread the barrel of a 7.62x39 16" Saiga rifle w/ the standard AK thread pattern?
dinzag 31
14x1 LH...
dinzag 31
Excellent find! Report back on the quality. I forked out big $$ for the 17x1 die - I bought a split-adj one for $50 - Polish made. I got it, but it wasn't a split adj one. I exchanged for the last split one they had but it was quite a bit more. EVen if they lasted one job, then you can toss 'em. Skull 0
I'm worried that they're not LH threaded. I guess I'll wait to see the outcome.
jgillaspy 24
14x1 LH... Right, I got that part. But I don't see that choice in the chart, at least the LH part. . .
dinzag 31
Nope - no LH metric ones.
gdk 0
Dinzag, no LH dies? That's one of the reasons I'm doing business with you. My conversion is complete except for the threading business. I shot it today w/ a scope on it and the FSE fcg is sweet!
Hunter78 1
Dinzag, no LH dies? That's one of the reasons I'm doing business with you. My conversion is complete except for the threading business. I shot it today w/ a scope on it and the FSE fcg is sweet! Dinzag's kit for the 308 is right hand thread 17-1. I don't see the advantage of a left hand die for the 308. Of course you would want left hand for the 7.62x39 since that will work with standard ak brakes, but if you have him thread a break for the 308 it wont matter anyway.
