Stingray 0
Well here is my first try at a conversion, the green machine! Wasn't too hard at all. Not sure I'm staying with this stock tho, was spare parts I had laying around. Also waiting on handguard bracket from Tony. Edited April 28, 2007 by Stingray
rocinante 100
That is outstanding. How did you finish the metal and I noticed a lack of a safety scratch. I know everyone says that arc is just part of AK design but it freaking bugs me.
nycGUNguy 61
Very nice, what kind of finish is the metal? I am doing an S-12 conversion now but I like the green. I tried the HIGH HEAT green BBQ paint but it looked like a grill item, not a mean machine??? yours looks great!
Stingray 0
Thanks guys! The finish is Norrell's Molyresin OD Green. The scratch has already started, give it a few more times working the safety on & off.

73cj5 1
As far as the safety scratch goes... I have read of guys grinding the nub off the back and other guys bending it out a little to prevent scratching. I would but a spare to play with and see how it works for your specific needs. It never really bothered me, as they all have it. It does kind of suck to refinish that nicely and have a scratch on the reciever:( Just don't put it on safe:)
G O B 3,516
If it ain't got that scratch, it ain't a real AK!

Cobra 76 two 2,677
Looks great man! Congrats on doing it yourself! Got any of that paint left you could dab on the hole plugs to match the "other" rivets? You guys afraid of a little scratch on an AK are trippin me out. It's supposed to look like that. Same kind of folks that buy a new pickup truck and are afraid to take it down the dirt road to the fishin hole... It's a TOOL man, not a piano!
