GEE, and when I bring stuff like this up I am looked at like I am a racist, hipocrite,white supremist,etc and I respond by saying I am a 1st generation citizen born here by parents who came in LEGALLY<LEARNED ENGLISH,GOT JOBS,PAID TAXES,and NEVER RECEIVED OR APPLIED FOR A DIME of FED $$. My mom had to have a sponser who would support her when she immigrated in early 60's-'62 I think. There was NO assistance from the Gov back then.

 

Oh I forgot that I also 'stereotype'- well I guess the truth hurts when what I see happening and the downturn in the quality of the neighbor hood(s), gang activity,trash,etc and the country as a whole stems from statistics such as this.

Just like roaches, incentive means everything. We could never prevent illegal alcohol during the prohibition or illegal drugs from entering our borders. Some good ideas but I'm against any kind of forced service in the military. Our military is so great because it's all voluntary.

I DO however feel that 2 years in some type public service for our young people "of their choice"

 

would do them some good and help them to take pride in our nation because they "Helped".

 

whether it be the Marine Corps or the Peace Corps.

Some good ideas but I'm against any kind of forced service in the military. Our military is so great because it's all voluntary.

In ancient Rome, non-citizens could join the military. Had to learn Latin. This also could lead to their becoming Roman citizens. However, they had to serve a full 20 years and retire!

+1 on what you say Jstat,even if you try a 'citizens arrest' which we have the power to do- in theory- once the cops show up they either let them go and chastise YOU or worse they arrest you for 'illegally detaining, held against their will, etc,etc.. I think the most important thing we need to do is once we've arrested them for commiting a second crime, ship their asses back home. I'd love to get them all out but I really don't think that is very realistic. The first ones I want out are the ones that continue to commit crimes. That would, IMHO, be a hell of a first step. Then build a fence. One like I saw on a website. I think it was Weneedafence.com or something like that. Will check later when I have more time. But it wasn't a simple little chain link fence. Pretty impressive.

No more handouts. I don't have a real problem giving people a hand up, not a handout. But only to American citizens. You weren't born here, you don't get shit.
