gtnichols 51
I have determined the next rifle i get will be a .223 A friend has an AR type with an adapter that allows him to shoot cheap 22lr ammo all day long. Apparently it takes about 15 minutes or less to switch them out. Q #1 doe the Saiga .223 have this? Q#2, any advice for the Best solution or Rifles to avoid? Thanks,

Thanks, http://www.22lrconversions.com/ak-pg.htm That's the only one I know of. I've heared mixed to bad reviews on it, and I haven't heard anything good about Ciener's customer relation skills if you have a problem.
gtnichols 51
I saw the Bushmaster catalog has one they make, and it has a gaurantee .223 to .22lr
Dylan 0
I have a Ciener kit for my ar15 it works good when clean. It only takes seconds to switch out from 223 just pull out the bolt and bolt carrier and put in the Ciener ,close, insert mag and your ready. My friend has the m16 version and it runs full auto fine just have to keep it clean. I don't have any experience with the ak conversion thou.

nalioth 405
If you have an AR15, look for a military surplus M261 training unit. The only Kalashnikov adpater thingy is the Ciener model, but I've not heard anything good about his company (or this product), either. Better to spend your money on a WASR-22 if you want a .22 Kalashnikov
patriot 7,197
The Ciener kit runs OK, but high velocity 22s bend the bolt carrier tab at the rear. One of these days I'll make a replacement tab out of tougher steel. That said, I like my 10/22s better for shooting 22LR. The groundhogs and ferals in my area sure don't like it though! AlexanMD 2
For AR platfroms Spike's Tactical is making a new conversion kit that has tested well so far. http://spikestactical.com/catalog/index.php Here is the ARF thread: http://ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=282&t=159531 As far as the AK platform I think you only have the one choice noted in the posts above. XdamagedX 248
I'm pretty sure there's a company that make a complete .22lr upper, which I would choose because the rifling pattern would be more designed for the ammunition. It would probably be alot less touchy with ammo/cleaning. And +1 for Cieners crappy customer service. I haven't had to deal with them yet (thankfully) but I have ordered 2 conversions from them. I've got the 1911 and AK kits. They took a LONG time to come in from being ordered, I wanna say like 6 months or so each. The 1911 kit does pretty good, and the AK kit does alright when you find the type of ammo it likes. And as stated before (more for the AK kit), when they start getting dirty they start hanging up and getting misfires and FTE's. Another problem the AK kit has is the ejector is on the mag, giving it a very random ejection pattern. I usually shoot mine without the top cover on because I've HAD them go every direction when they're ejected. I don't know how similar the AR/m16 kit would be, but yeah theres all I can put in the info portal... except maybe these pics: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/xda...dx/100_1244.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/xda...dx/100_1256.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/xda...dx/100_1258.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/xda...dx/100_1250.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/xda...dx/100_1253.jpg
gtnichols 51
Good info, and thanks for the pic links, I never thought about it but that tiny mag sticking out the bottom looks funny,... I guess they are both pretty accurate from what you said,...

I guess they are both pretty accurate from what you said,... Mine has decent accuracy (the AK) never really put it on paper to see that way, but it's pretty consistent. And the 1911 kit pulls excellent groups as far as I'm concerned, and I just have the basic kit. Yeah that's the 10 rd.er, the 30 doesn't look QUITE so goofy but yeah, it is what it is. Azrial 1,091
I have a CZ V-22 Upper for my M4. It runs just fine. The only problem is the factory mags are only 10 rounds. Is is my understanding that Black Dog either is, or will be making 30 round mags for it in the near future. I used to print out reduced sized silhouettes on my laser printer and have the girlfriend set them up a random in the woods near my home, Father and sons, hostages, shoot - no shoots. I got in a huge amount of practice for cheap and really ruled the fun house when it came time for qualifications.
