jrance@iacwds.com 716
I wanted to share my latest 1911 addition to the collection. It was built by Bob Marvel and Joe Chambers of Marvel Custom Guns and it is my 27th anniversary gift from my bride Mrs. 1911. I was hesitant to post this but I was egged on by a few members that this is a board of gun lovers whose base happens to be the Saiga 12. This is what is referred to in Texas as a B-B-Q gun. It is too purty to take out except to weddings, funerals and B-B-Q's. From a Ransom Rest it will put 10 rounds in 1.4" at 50 yards. If there are any 1911 lovers I would be glad to elaoborate on what has been done. Otherwise, let the flaming begin. 1911 Edited July 11, 2008 by 1911
acercanto 6
*picks jaw up off floor* Wooww, that's incredibly beautiful. <sarcasm>Hey, didn't Max tell everyone that porn goes in the off-topic section?</sarcasm> Acer ETA: the more I look at it, the more it seems like the rear sight doesn't match. I don't think it should be silver, but the black doesn't quite go, IMHO. I dunno, not my gun. Edited July 11, 2008 by acer_saiga308
getitat 609
Damn, 1911!!!! That's not a "weapon", that's "Man-Jewelry!!" It's the nicest I've ever seen. You must have done something very right for a very long time to deserve such a special prize.... The best, guido2 in Houston
getitat 609
Ummm.....As far as that "flaming" comment...If you were, say, barraged with numerous negative and nasty postings on a weapons board, do you think you might be tempted to, say, sell the gun immediately at a huge loss, just to get it off your shoulders? Just well, you know, wondering, for no particular reason....... Anonymous
cellsworth 21
I don't think they can get much better than that 1911! VERY nice!
GPalmer 1
Nice weapon! Very pretty and that's some amazing accuracy too. One of these days I have to pick myself up one of them 1911's.

Vultite 57
nice setup, but hows the grip feel with that kinda "stippeling" opposed to the standard stippeling. and i probably didn't spell that right but oh well, nice looking piece though
Elkhound 91
Stunning!!! Awesome!!! Just plain cool. Jeff you are a lucky man. I am fortunate if my beloved gives me a $40.00 gift card to Bed, Bath and Beyond so I can buy her something! Are those Truglo sights? A Fiber Optic? jrance@iacwds.com 716
I would love to talk about my Marvel XSE Project some more! Thank you for asking. The front sight is one of Bob Marvel's own design. It is a plastic insert that works better for my aging eyes than a Tritium or White Dot style sight. The plastic rod can be changed to another color like green or orange if I so desire. The grip feels fabulous! It is not rough on the hands at all and yet provides and excellent grip whether the gun is wet or has oil on it. 1911 The following work was completed on my stock Colt XSE Government pistol: Accuracy Overhaul Fit Kart Barrel/Marvel Cone - Fit slide to frame - Corrected Extractor - Replaced Trigger with Grieder Long - Replaced all Springs - Corrected Breech - Corrected Ejection Port - Trigger Job - Ransom Rest Tested at 50 Yards. Options or Changes Replace Magazine Catch with Grieder Tactical - Stippled Pad Replace Ejector with Long EGW Ejector* Replaced Hammer with Modified C&S Hammer Replaced Thumb Safeties with Modified Ed Brown Ambi Safeties Ed Brown Bobtail Mainspring Housing Fitted to Frame - Stippled and Pattern Cut Stippled and Patern Cut the Front Strap Stippled and Pattern Cut the Top of the Slide (Marvel Pattern) Stippled the Rear of the Slide with Extractor blended in to thte Slide Cut the Front of the Slide back [.400"] and cut in BHP Cut on Front Sides Border Cut the Slide Marvel "Bull Nosed" the Front of the Slide Machined Special Reverse Plug for the Slide Polished Slide and Frame per request ( instead of Matte Finish) Light Melt/Bevel all Edges Recut and Installed Champion Adjustable Rear Sight Cross Dovetail Cut for Fiber Optic Front Sight (Marvel Design) Threaded Barrel and Fit for Marvel Cone Engrave J.R. on Rear of Slide Slide Stop Custom Rebuilt Open Up the Magazine Well Bottom of the Slide Bevel Cut Full Length Altered Frame Feed Ramp to 31 Degrees Replaced all Pins and Grip Screws Barrel: Breech to Hood <.001" - Chamber Depth .906" - Chamber Polished Throated Sear: .772" OAL Cut to Marvel Angles with Slight Roll Hammer: Hools at 90 Degrees at .018" HT. - RC Tested at RC52 Sear Spring Modified Hammer Spring 20# Recoil Spring 20# [in the Gun as sent] Extra 18# Wolff Spring Included Eight different types of bullets tested in Pistol for functioning for a total of 450 rounds fired - No Malfunctions. Samples of all types included except for WWWB Ball Ammo - I do not recommend the BLazer Ammo. Ransom Rest tested 185g Hornady Match (4.2 Clays[ at 50 Yards 1.4" Results The Long EGW Ejector had to be installed because the Breech Face was cut too high. This allows a spent case that is coming out of the chamber to avoid the Colt Ejector. The only solution is to replace the Colt Slide or to install a Longer and Taller Ejector. For this reason, we never send a newer Colt to War, They don't seem to care enough about the quality of the product. Edited July 14, 2008 by 1911
