Why no 5.45X39 saiga?

Recommended Posts

Are they still just running one assembly line? I'd rather they didn't add a new caliber to their production line if they are still doing a batch in one caliber and then shutting everything down, retooling, and building another caliber.

Im sure they have many assembly lines. Keep in mind izhmash also makes ak's for the military.

I was told they make models in batches and ship whatever models are on hand to fill orders with RAAC. They don't have an assembly line for each model.

Check out Izhmash's website they are currently producing a Saiga 5.6X39, which would probably be easier to handload for, and they make a Saiga in 9X53 which I am assuming is an awesome load. The 5.45X39 is no where near obsolete, they currently use it in the there special forces hardly obsolete, and Russian counter-snipers and sharpshooters use the SVD which is 7.62X54R so neither is "out"
