TonyRumore 1,332
I have received quite a few requests for a comparison pic of the 8"/10"/12" S-17 SBS and thought I would post one here. I was planning on getting a pic up on the Tromix website, but my camera took a shit and the only pic I have (this one) is out of focus and not website worthy. presto_z 125
is the length of the brake included in the measurements?
TonyRumore 1,332
No, the brake adds about 1.8" Tony
KROSS FA 14
They all look awesome. Love my 8" S-17. I didn't realize this before but it looks like our Hellion hand guard will also work with the 10" builds. Neat! Zach KROSS FA

raidersfan_5544 57
Hey Tony is that my 12in on top!!! LOL Edited October 5, 2009 by raidersfan_5544
stiletto raggio 20
Any observations on how they handle and shoot, specifically perceived muzzle blast and which you prefer in terms of balance? I've always thought the 12" were the best looking, but I have yet to handle a Saiga SBS.
raidersfan_5544 57
Obviously the 12in would have the least muzzle blast givin the distance of the barrel from the shooter. I also thought the 12in looked the most proportioned and would be the best in terms of balance and function(that is why my sbs that is being built has a 12in barrel) It would give you the best of both worlds compactness, shot pattern, and velocity( see the barrel length vs velocity thread) 12in barrel only drops 120-130fps vs 28in barrel or 75-85 fps vs 19in barrel
Wakko 10
Pic doesn't work anymore.

RogerH 0
I had the chance to shoot an 8" Tromix last weekend and it was amazing. The recoil was not much worse than a full length S12 and I was knocking down steel poppers at 10 to 15 yards with no problem. Now I think I need one of my own.
rsvmille00 0
Does anyone know who makes a tri-rail forearm for the 12" S-17? So far I have found out that Kross is out of business and Chaos doesn't make one.
TonyRumore 1,332
Kross was the only option on the 12" length hand guard and they only delivered two of them before going out of business. I sell so few 12" guns, I doubt anyone is going to invest in making a replacement. Also, I believe Tromix is the only company that moves the gas block back when making a 12" gun. Everyone else just whacks the barrel off and leaves the gas block in the original location. Tony Rumore Tromix
KC913 324
Just curious, do you keep the gas system at factory length for any 12" builds? I love the look of a 12" barrel with factory gas tube / handguard.

KC913 324
Tony just answered this question in the previous post. All TROMIX SBS's run modified gas systems for maximum reliability. Ah ok. Was just wondering if there was ever an exception. Thanks, sir.
joelrod47 373
Tony has built guns (moved gas block back) that retained the factory handguard.......This is a 10" !!
TonyRumore 1,332
Actually, we are going to start producing some "professional" model 12 inch guns that have the standard full length gas system. However, they will be intended for full power combat loads only. I have no intentions of drilling a whole shit pile of large ass gas port holes and sticking a choke on it so it will run light loads. I don't need to hear the complaints about gas block fouling either. Tony
Danomite45 1
quick question: What is the overall length of a 8" Tromix with the stock folded? Thanks, Danomite
