David Mark 2,452
I got a good start on my rifle rack project this weekend. It was finally warm enough to work in my garage.

22_Shooter 1,560
Looks good. Is this going to be for storage, or for lining up your firepower at a range?

Right now.........I have a "gun closet"........and it's only 1/2 a closet . Looking forward to the completed pics of your setup.
Eric Pate 478
I made mine very similar to how yours is set up. I got a large roll of multipurpose indoor/outdoor short-pile carpeting and tacked it all over to increase the padding. I also ended up making some "blocks" with the same carpeting on them for the purpose of bringing all the rifles up to the same level, as some rifle lengths just don't wanna fit correctly. I'd like to see a pic. I plan on carpeting the base with a padded carpet left over from my office construction and lining the barrel notches with black felt. I also considered imbedding magnets in the barrel notches for extra hold but I have not made up my mind on that. (probably overkill) The rest will be golden oak. Vultite 57
nicely done sir. What are you going to line the top section with? I've seen a couple of fellas use leather instead of felt, gave it a rustic look (they stained the wood dark as well)
Klassy Kalashnikov 1,393
+1 on Golden Oak, a beautiful color for a finish.
Graniteer 10
Looks nice. You use a router to cut those slots or a hole saw and then a hand saw to open it up? I made a rack for my fishing poles in a similar way, just oriented horizontally instead of vertically.

Azrial 1,091
Very nice, but I do not live in a place that I could leave my guns so exposed and convenience.
David Mark 2,452
Thanks for the kind words gentleman. Here is the finished rack with the carpet in place and the black felt in the notches. And a photo with some of the collection in place.
Klassy Kalashnikov 1,393
Very nice! Depends how much it costs to make, and if you feel like it, but you could definitely sell a few of those.
