VaiFanatic90 360
Well, after being lazy for a few months, I'm gonna crack down and get the parts for my conversion. So far I've got the following: -TimberSmith Wood-Stock Black Laminate set (Which I want to know, does this come with the pg nut, or will that be an extra part to order?) -Ak-47 gas tube -Angled trigger guard -Tromix trigger group with shepherd's crook -Lower handguard bracket Anything I'm missing? I've already got a bullet guide from dinzag to throw in, just been lazy. Looking forward to doing business with the folks at CSS, heard nothing but good things. paprotective 362
I'd be grabbing the pg nut and screw combo.. Timbersmith does not include any hardware for it. Also grab a Retainer Plate for $7-8 and save the headache with the wire.. IMHO.. Black Hole Plugs 6pk.. $1.xx You may want to polish the FCG contact points abit before you install the FCG.. make it smooth is all. Make sure you check the hammer spring so it don't jump into the FCG when your done.. bend it a hair in the mid section.. Hope this helps. Albert
VaiFanatic90 360
Thanks, Al. Why do you suggest the retainer plate? Most others have recommended the shepherds crook.
paprotective 362
Just easier to put in / take out.. Al
VaiFanatic90 360
Alright, I've still got a few minutes to make up my mind while I search for the 5% discount code. I don't remember where it is!

shades_of_grey 1,092
Greg at CSS ships your order before you even place it. His shipping and customer service really are the best, bar none. Edited August 2, 2010 by post-apocalyptic
icefire 10
Very few folks endorse the shepards crook, (bent piece of wire) after using the retaining plate, (solid steel plate) to hold in your axis pins....Get the plate, and you'll be thankful later... rx slim 6
I'm going to be doing my conversion in the next few weeks, also. You guys talked me into ordering the retaining plate. . .is there any video out there of using the retaining plate during installation?

VaiFanatic90 360
Well, it only took two days to get here!! I'm beginning the process now! CSS is amazing, you really can't go wrong with Greg.
VaiFanatic90 360
Well, got the old assembly completely off, just primed and painted the bare metal with rustoleum. Waiting for it to dry. The first portion of the restoration took maybe 25-35 minutes. Not very difficult at all. Don't have a vice currently or a mill, so I used a regular power drill, block of wood, and cobalt bits. Took it nice and easy and it was done in no time.
geepelton 105
Told you CSS was awesome. Good luck and Post some pics when your done.....
VaiFanatic90 360
You got it, Ranger. When I get the time, I'll eventually swap out the FSB with a bulgy so I can mount a cleaning rod and stick with the stock GB.

paprotective 362
That came out very nice.. The wood is the kicker... Did you put the TOP V notch in the barrel to hold the screw from sliding forward??
