Anybody into Bowie knives?

I have a love love affair with big Bowies, one of the best knife designs ever made.

I just picked up a cold steel Natchez Bowie today and it is a focking beautiful blade.

The other is cold steel Trailmaster and Ontario marine raider.

The Natchez will not be used, its just for show because it was kinda expensive and I dont even want to put any marks on it.

Next month I plan on buying a cold steel Laredo bowie in san mai iii steel.

I know some people dont like cold steel but all three of the Bowies have gotten great reviews, even from that fish lipped bastard nutnfancy.

So show your Bowies if you got em!

Checked out the Ontario Marine Raider. God I love that blade.

Yes the raider is a big badass blade and I also love it. Especially the price, I picked mine up at cabelas for $55. You cant beat that and

the blade can handle anything you throw at it. Its the one I use the other two I just wanted to have,

I am a fan of any large knife with a Moran grind and a simple blade design with adequate belly to shear and a steep enough point to thrust.

The oldest type of "Bowie" is the Searles Bowie and likely to be the type of Knife used by Jim during the bloody Sandbar Affair.

That's a nice "crew-served MRE opener" you've got there! :super:

I am kinda partial to the Bolo styles. My Fox Bolo has been around the world with me and opened MRE's on every continent except Australia and Antartica... (show with Cold Steel Recon Scout for scale).

Not a very large knife, but a co-worker of mine makes custom knives. He made me this 256 layer Damascus Blade Bowie Skinner. The handle is Tulip Wood and both the pommel and handguard are made of stainless steel. He's made a couple of other knives for me including some Finnish / Scandinavian style hunters (I think they're called Puukkos...I'm not sure of the spelling) and some kitchen knives for the wife.

This is a butter knife I purchased at the local Target about 2 years ago. It's Chinese... metal (don't know if it is steel) and slightly serrated edge goes through butter like it was butter. Mind you, the butter should not be frozen.

As for bigger knives, I've got this full-tang 440c 8-inch blade, which I found for 6 dollars at one of the dollar stores up in Orlando. It's chopped through tress and sharpens up real nice and quick. I'm going to eventually get my hands on that Marine Raider though.
