KySoldier 2
Yeah, people like the SKS, for the price, it can't be beat. I prefer the AK personally, but the SKS offers the same power and capacity at half the price.
shotgun_lobotomy 0
dont forget the acuracy of the longer barrel (mine is a much shorted converted model, takes ak mags and thumbhole stock) but we hunt groundhogs all the time with em and compaireds to a ak they are much more accurate
KySoldier 2
Never seen one take AK mags, that's cool! I always like the folding bayonet.
ASSASSIN 1
Hi all I will be visiting Bisley (famous shooting venue in England) at the end of may and i hope to come back with a rifle , i have recently been looking at an excellent example of a yugoslavian mauser in 7.92mm , how good is this round at say 1000m? thanks assassin
KySoldier 2
Bisely must be small scale now with the laws you all must now live under...unless they cater to hunters. I'm picturing fine wooden racks of bolt action rifles and Beretta hand engaved shotguns.
Bvamp 604
8mm mauser is a sweet round for long range knockdown from my experiences with it. I dont know about 1000 METERS, but if any round can be good out there, the 8mm mauser round would be. You should look for the barrel being shot out if its a war gun. I posted how to do that somewhere in this topic in case you missed it.
KySoldier 2
Dang, I'm tempted to get one now! Hate to have to buy a new caliber, but I'd like to have a C&R Mauser from WWII Germany!
shotgun_lobotomy 0
for those really long shots i love my 25/06 its a nice far reaching shooter
ASSASSIN 1
Hi At bisley it is quite large scale , they have different ranges starting at 100m and going out to 1000m , you can see all types of weapons there from ar15s to lee enfields and all types of black powder arms. any semi auto style weapon like the ar15 has to be manually reloaded by pulling the cocking lever but its not all that bad i guess. Yes bvamp i have noted your instructions on checking for a shot out barrel , many thanks. I will go to bisley and just see what i can pick up , i dont want to come home empty handed so ill be looking to buy something. Whatever i buy i will post a pik here. come to think of it i may take some piks of the show and post them here so you guys can see what goes on over here. By th way i was checking a ballistics table from remmington and when comparing 7.62x39mm and 8mm mauser they claim that at 500m there is only 5ft lb difference in muzzle energy that just has to be wrong lol assassin
ASSASSIN 1
Me again Here is a short vid clip from my local shooting range , it just shows that some of my toys can rock n roll too lol http://homepage.ntlworld.com/kalashnikov/i.../rapidsaiga.avi assassin Edited March 31, 2004 by ASSASSIN
KySoldier 2
Sounds like fun, its been a while since I've been to a range that size. For the military they usually go out to 300m...although at competition I shot from the 600m with an M16A2. At my local range, we only have 150m to play with It started as a trap shoot only range and slowly progressed to rifles/handguns.
uzitiger 193
England sure has idiotic laws against gun ownership and making self defense a crime. Tony Blair is a socialist dickhead. There are those in the US who would love to disarm us the same way. We need to remind people that the 1968 Gun Control Act foisted upon us by Lyndon Johnson was a copy of the 1838 Nazi Gun Control Act (see JPFO's website). New York City and Washington DC banned private ownership of guns and they are hotbeds of crime. Chicago under Richard (Dick) Daley Jr. is just as bad and the dickhead wants more draconian anti gun laws. We are lucky the 1994 'assault gun' ban expired because the Republicans have no balls to repeal these unconsitutional law which violate the Second Amendment.
G O B 3,516
Maybe we should have 80 million man gun owners marches! G O B
Coastie 0
I'd be there to march along side of you G.O.B. Britain has some really whacky gun laws and by enacting such laws the crime rate skyrocketed. I'd suggest we consider trading some of our more prominent anti-gunners for some of Britain's more rabid gun enthusists such as assassin. I'm sure we could work something out ala Lend Lease except we wouldn't want ours back, ever!
ASSASSIN 1
Hi Due to my extremely pro gun views i dont think England would want me back under the lend lease agreement lol Now that we have Mr Blair for another 5 years we can expect more stupid gun laws..........................................................anyone want to swap plases??????? will the last gun owner leaving England please turn off the light lol assassin
Bvamp 604
no offense, assassin, but that is why we tossed the union jack into the sea. being a subject and being a citizen are two totally different things. get your green card and work visa and get it over with. G O B 3,516
Come on over to this side of the 'pond' Assasin, we have a conservitive government in office--we can probably get you political assylum status! G O B

spas12 0
Hi ASSASIN The Drag looks good mate. Now frighten everyone with the cost. Boy this countrys expensive
ASSASSIN 1
And here are a few more piks
ASSASSIN 1
Hi jon elia My drag isas much a drag as any on Dragunov.net It seems that many of the drags imported into the U.S by companys such as B-west had their recievers stamped with "TIGER" but as you can read on dragunov.net the Russians done this to get around the problems of exporting a military weapon. From my research the only real difference from a "Tiger" reciever and a genuine drag is the external lightening cuts above the magazine well. My drag does have "tigr" stamped in cyrillic on the reciever but it does have the 24" barrel , 120mm flash hider , 1200m rear sight with the battle sight setting , adjustable gas system , the bayonet lug is removed to get past Russian export laws as above and it also has the military hooded front sight. The rifling twist measures out at 1 in 9.45" (1 in 10 rh twist). We have the tigers for sale here too and they cost £300 more than i paid for my svd and only have the 20" barrel , 300m rear sight , no front sight hood and a 60mm flash cone if anything on the muzzle. The importer of my rifle showwed me the specs in his catalogue of the tiger and svd rifles and bar the lightening cuts to the reciever (i prefer it without as the reciever may be more rigid) mine is all svd. I have loved this rifle since i first set eyes on one about 20 or so years ago so i had to buy one despite its hefty £1195 price tag. it came with 2 mags , a cleaning rod , cleaning kit/multi tool tube , svd sling and a posp 4x24 scope that i junked in favour of the posp 8x42. it came in a sealed box direct from Izmash. All the best assassin
