liberty -r- death 1,445
Yesterday I got on and found the my avatar was jacked up. Decided it was time for a change. Though about posting some skin, but the only photos I have to use are of my wife, and I figured she'd cut my nuts off if I used one of those. So I used one from work. Sorry it's not that sexy, but it still reflects who I am and what I'm about.
Ronin38 2,117
Can you post a larger picture of that, so we can see what it is?
Dad2142Dad 6,559
Hold down the control key and scroll in with the mouse wheel. Warning doing that to Sunnybeans avatar may cause you to loose complete focus for extended periods......
thebuns1 4,323
Nothing wrong with a change now and then. I wouldnt want my nuts cut off either. I prefer mine where their at since they work just fine as they are.

liberty -r- death 1,445
I really wish I could say that I do the job I do because I feel a calling. But I gotta be honest. I get to drive really kick ass trucks, play with the biggest super soakers known to man, and I get paid for it. Saving lives and property is nice and all, but it's really about the big truck, the big squirt gun, practical jokes with guys on shift, and adrenaline. :-)

MT Predator 2,294
I've seen the wild land fires in Montana. Those guys have to go into some insane areas to fight those fires. I've also seen structural, vehicle, and aircraft fires. You guys deal with hazardous shit! Hats off to all of you! ETA: I changed my avatar after that fateful day. sunnybean 939
Remember this pic Sunny? Yep. Bitteroots in 2000. The roots were ablaze big time again this year. Measured in overtime hours, this was the busiest season for me in 19 years. Surpassed 2000 and 2011 by about 100 hours to end with 1180.75 of OT (May 26-Oct 13)!!! Lone Eagle 839
Yep, Root was bad, and we got all the smoke from it. Few times, we came out of the warehouse to find a layer of ash on the vehicles. I did a little volunteer firefighter/EMT in HS, but you wildfire guys are a breed all your own. whitetrashrn 74
While backpacking in Washington St. had an opportunity to see some smoke jumpers on manuvers. It was amazing how agile and focused these guys were while jumping out of a plane with what looked like 120 lbs of gear.. My hat goes off to those guys.. I have jumped out of a plane and backpacked but not at the same time..

MT Predator 2,294
Moving around and getting out of the aircraft with 120 lbs of equipment is the hard part. Once under canopy, the weight is suspended. Thing is, we tried to stay out of the trees. Smoke jumpers jump into the middle of the trees! Tree landings suck!
SwissyJim 117
My tools as well... working a scene a couple of days ago on super slickroads Someone decided it would be a good idea to haul ass to work and ended up hitting one of our truck companies that had stopped at an accident on the way to training. I'm the black helmet on the left side... Acree is the FF on my rig. and yeah... hats of to wildland guys. Gimme a good structure fire any day. (PS changed my avatar too... finally able to not have my dog that passed away as mine) Edited November 20, 2012 by SwissyJim
liberty -r- death 1,445
Hope all of your guys were ok in the wreck. I'm sure they started extrication on the idiot that hit them before worrying about themselves. Good to see so many firefighters here.

I'm sure they started extrication on the idiot that hit them before worrying about themselves. Good to see so many firefighters here. Shook up and a little freaked out... one was standing, talking to the driver of the car they stopped to check on. Heard a CRUNCH, heard sliding tires, looked over and saw a van and car heard sideways right at them. He pushed the driver out of the way, jumped up onto the car they were by and felt the WHOOSH of the air as the van went past. There were sliding tire marks in the snow on both sides of his footprints where he had just been standing. VERY close call... otherwise, no injuries. And yeah... started extrication right away until my heavy rescue rig got on scene. Wonder how many more FF's here...?
sunnybean 939
I know that member TOTHEFLOOR is another (retired) structure guy. Since we're on the topic, I thought I'd post some more wildland pix. For a few years I was taking a lot of photos. I have backed off recently. Here's some decent ones from about five years back. SwissyJim, a few you'll like from AK... Some aviation... Cutting big wood... Randomness...
